  1. Hello: Way back when I tried different bullets weights with a 16" barrel. The winner was 124 grain JHP out to 125 yards or so. Thanks, Eric
  2. Hello: Don't run a shock buff. Thanks, Eric
  3. Hello: I noticed that the flat wire spring makes more noise than a round wire spring. I think it is from more friction in the buffer tube. You may want to try a JP 308 rifle spring in your carbine buffer. A little shorter stroke but it still will lock back when empty. Different PCC's will shoot different depending on the bolt weight and the weight of the upper and where the weight is. Your PCC is pretty light on the front where his may not be? Thanks, Eric
  4. Mark: As you know I use plated bullets for just that reason the coatings are not always concentric. I have used Acme coated bullets quite a bit and they seem pretty good. Precision bullets out of Texas are good. Some of the others are ok but not great. You could use coated bullets for practice and plated for the matches to keep cost down. 124's seem to be the sweet spot for the AR9's for me. Thanks, Eric
  5. Hello: I don't think the weight is as much a factor as where the weight is. Front heavy will hurt transitions a little but may keep the muzzle down. Butt end will just add weight and will not effect transitions at all. I like my PCC's to be a little front heavy but not heavy overall in the 6-7LB range is fine. Balance at the magwell with no magazine installed. Thanks, Eric
  6. Hello: For me to make major with Lovex DO37.1 with 115 jhp Montana Gold it takes 10.3 grains to make 171PF. 10 grains is only 158PF for my Schuemann 5" barrel. I don't think it shoots any softer than HS-7 at 171-173PF and it takes alot less powder. I have more testing to do with the Lovex powder. Thanks, Eric
  7. Hello: One thing I thought of also are you spraying anything in the comp to try to keep it clean? Thanks, Eric
  8. Hello: Weld the end of it or use a standard guide rod with a hole in it. We use our pistols more than 98% of the people so things will break or you will find the weak point. I would give Dave Dawson a call and see what he says. Maybe they have an update on them? Thanks, Eric
  9. Hello: Another option would be to buy a Ruger PCC that takes Glock mags and shoot that. You will always be able to sell one of those or use it for a house gun. Thanks, Eric
  10. Hello: Or if you can assemble things you could build a pretty damn nice one for $1100 with a very good trigger and optic. Thanks, Eric
  11. Hello: I like lighter open pistols and use 115 grain bullets as well. If an open pistol is heavy it just feels slow to me when transitioning from target to target. I tried the heavy metal grips, tungsten sleeve and a tungsten guide rod with tungsten reverse plug. Long heavy slide and heavy long frame. For me the lighter weight setup works better with a little weight out front on the comp. It balances right under the trigger guard where it intersects with the grip. Use a timer on some targets and see which one is faster for you. Thanks, Eric
  12. Hello: I really like the QC10 lowers for Colt and Glock mags. They have the correct angle for great feeding out of the magazines. We have lots of PCC shooters here and some of the lowers out there are just very sloppy in the magazine area causing feeding problems. Thanks, Eric
  13. Hello: It is my comp I designed and make. Shoots soft and flat. Thanks, Eric
  14. Hello: I don't get anything on the lens of my open pistol with this comp setup. Thanks, Eric
  15. Hello: Try Mobil 1 car oil. Works great for me and is cheap. I use summer weight and winter weight. 2 quarts will last a very long time. Thanks, Eric
  16. Hello: Mine is towards the front of the ejection port. Just far enough back to allow the brass catcher mount to clear the C-More. It also works well with the C-More and American Defense mount. Thanks, Eric
  17. Hello: Some powders turn plastic into a mushy mess. It will also turn your powder measure black. That maybe what you are seeing there. Take it out and run it. Thanks, Eric
  18. Hello: It will work with a C-More railway. I have that setup on one of my PCC's. Thanks, Eric
  19. Hello: Use a 308 rifle spring. It will shorten the stroke a little with a spacer but it still will lock the bolt back. I am using a JP 308 rifle spring but any should work. Thanks, Eric
  20. Hello: Yes they can cause all sorts of problems. Feeding and extraction. I have never used them on my open pistols. Benny Hill told me long ago that they will cause you problems. Sure enough on a 45 single stack I had years ago it slowed the slide down and was causing feeding problems but not all the time. It only did it after about 12-14 shots when it warmed up. I have seen open pistols with over 100,000 rounds that still run great with no buffer ever installed. Thanks, Eric
  21. Hello: I am using plated, coated and metal jacketed bullets. I like the 121-125 grain bullets the best for all around use in my AR9mm. I shot some 115's yesterday in a USPSA match and noticed the difference in recoil, even though both are in the 131-134PF range. Going to try different powder next week and see how that goes. I have been using Tite Group for years and it works great. Accuracy is very good with it and so are the bullets out to 50 yards off hand for me. You could use plated or coated for practice and JHP's for the match if you feel they give you better results. Thanks, Eric
  22. Hello: You can mount the laser at 45 degrees if that works for you or mount it on the top or bottom. I can see the green Crimson trace laser out to 20 yards on a bright sunny day here in Georgia on the red dirt or target. Thanks, Eric
  23. Hello: learn to use a laser. You can even shoot it from the hip on low ports. Thanks, Eric
  24. Hello: Not Sport Pistol but Lovex DO37 Clean Shot. I will see how it does next week. Thanks, Eric
