  1. Hello: I am building one right now for my QC10 lower. It will use Glock mags and should be ready to test next week once I get a Glock 40 magazine. I have the 16" barrel, Matrix side charge upper receiver and bolt. I also have to decide which handguard to use. I have lots of brass and bullets so I think it should be fun to shoot it. Thanks, Eric
  2. Hello: The STI triggers are a very good option and take very little to make them work. Long curved, short curved and the gunsmith give lots of options. SVI trigger sometimes take a lot of work to make them fit correctly. They tend to be too long in the bow area so some reshaping needs to be done. I have not tried the X-Line. Thanks, Eric
  3. Hello: I used some Shooters World Ultimate pistol powder yesterday. Very clean and low powder drops. With Montana Gold 121's, 1.170" OAL, Winchester small rifle primers and 6.8 grains of Ultimate Pistol gives 171-173PF. I'll shoot some more of this powder and try some of my normal 115's to see how it feels. Thanks, Eric
  4. Hello: The mounting screws are in the bottom to answer your question 3 times You use the same 4 screws to mount to the Tevo mount. Screws are Torx head. Thanks, Eric
  5. Hello: If you testing powders and loads you have to use the same power factor for all, same bullet, etc. The true test is with a timer and your hits on paper. As for the hit in the hand that is a personal feeling and some are better at feeling that than others. Are there hits any better with a softer feeling powder? Only testing with a timer will tell you. Bullet weight has alot to do with the recoil impulse duration. In the end it is what feels right to you and what somebody tells you the best load is Thanks, Eric
  6. Hello: HS-6, Silhouette, 3N38, N350, N105, AA#7, and Winchester Auto Comp. Those are just some of the ones that will work. 4756 is no longer available but was a good powder. Thanks, Eric
  7. Hello: You are one of the lucky ones then. We have seen a lot of failures around here on open pistols. Thanks, Eric
  8. Hello: The mount looks pretty nice I hope your DPP holds up. Thanks, Eric
  9. Hello: I never made the jump to the RTS2 since so many around here have had problems with them. They were just not holding up very well and some that changed over that I saw did not shoot them as well. Some went back to the original C-More and some went a different route. I guess I will be the test mule around here on an open pistol. Looking forward to the testing and will see how my match results are. Thanks, Eric
  10. Hello: Well half of my setup arrived today. I took the mount and hood off the Holosun 510C and will weight it to see how it compares to a C-More slide ride. Just in my hands it feels heavier than a plastic C-More but pretty close to a metal C-More. I love the really clear small dot and the large glass on the Holosun. I will see how it works out very soon but expect it to be as nice as the ones on my PCC's and 15/22. Thanks, Eric
  11. Hello: You run lead cast bullets in your Sig MPX? How is that working out for you? If it is in your AR9 then try 3.1 grains of Tite Group with your 125 grain bullets. Tune the buffer in the AR9 and you will really enjoy shooting that load. Thanks, Eric
  12. Hello: 115's is the best for Sig MPX loads but a little too harsh in a AR9 I think. Thanks, Eric
  13. Hello: With that JP use powders in the Tite Group range with 121-135grain bullets at 131-134PF. It will be a nice shooting. Thanks, Eric
  14. Hello: I tested the powder with 4 different open pistols I have. One with two barrel holes and the rest with none. No gas coming out the front since I use my comp which directs the gases up and forward in two vortices. Thanks, Eric
  15. Hello: I like the HS-6 more since it shot softer and also takes less powder so it is a better value when bought in bulk. Both had about the same dot movement but the Major Pistol was a little cleaner. Both are easy to cleanup and were used with jacketed hollow point bullets. I think I am more sensitive to recoil than some since I have an elbow that either goes tennis or golfers being my tuning fork for recoil. Thanks, Eric
  16. Hello: Anyone try Shooters World Ultimate Pistol DO36-07? I have a pound I want to try with some 121 Montana Golds. It is said to be close to Auto Comp so I am thinking 7.0 grains to try first. I tried Major Pistol and it is close to AA#7 powder drops at 10.2 grains with 115's. I liked my HS-6 load more. Thanks, Eric
  17. Hello: There are a couple of tricks you can do to help you find the dot and get target focus. For target focus tape the front of the C-More off and shoot with both eyes open. The dot will appear on the target even though you can't see through the C-More. Next is if you loose the dot pull the pistol towards you until the dot appears. This works very well for weak hand shooting. Last tip I use on really close hoser targets is index off the slide and don't even try to find the dot. Welcome to open, "the go fast miss fast division". Thanks,Eric
  18. Hello: You have Benny Hill in Corpus who could make you a new open pistol or convert the pistol you have. Lots of others in Texas as well. Thanks, Eric
  19. Hello: A wedge or curved mainspring housing will make your wrist angle different than using a flat mainspring housing. Think, more of a Glock angle which is more like true target pistols. It locks your wrist up a little more so some may not like that feeling. The only way is to try one to see what you like the best. Of the two I like the curved more than the wedge but like the flat the best. Thanks, Eric
  20. Hello: Don't cut the slide for the 1 degree angle just have the distance between the comp and slide a little bigger, like 0.010-0.015". I think a better route would be to buy a open pistol to test the waters. After you decide you like then keep shooting that for a year until you decide what you like in a open pistol. I am sure you can sell the SVI pistol and buy a real custom open pistol from another company and have enough left over for a reloader. SVI sell real well around here. Thanks, Eric
  21. Hello: there are 4 mounting screws for the Holosun 510C dovetail base. Remove the screws and the base comes off. You can also remove the metal shield cover if you want it lighter although it is very light and adds protection. I have everything ordered and will see how it does. I went with the single sided mount since that is what I am using right now on one of my open pistols. I really like the Holosun 510C on my PCC's so it should be good on my open pistol. Thanks, Eric
  22. Hello: I guess I will have to order one up from Tevo and give it a try. It will get a full testing here so we will see how it works out. Thanks, Eric
  23. Hello: Use 95 grain 380 bullets and HS-6 powder giving 130-140PF loads. I use a 8 lb ISMI recoil spring. You could try Auto Comp or some other powder that will give you cheaper reloads. Another option would be to use a single stack 1911 and install a comp and dot. Thanks, Eric
  24. Hello: I have tried the red and the green and prefer the red. I use a green fiber on my Limited pistol. Thanks, Eric
  25. Hello: I would try to get someone local that knows open pistols in 9mm. Ask around at your local matches and see who does this kinda of work in your area. Dealing local helps alot if you have a problem. Thanks, Eric
