  1. stealing from Bassham here, post match analyst should be... 1. What did you do well 2. what do you need to improve on 3. what are you going to do about it
  2. I shoot a 12lb variable out of my limited gun. It "seemed" to shoot flatter than the conventional 12lb spring i had in there. Best to just buy some of different weights and try it! they are cheap!
  3. great point! Proper grip in dryfire is CRITICAL!
  4. make you are also train the antagonist muscles (especially with grip) or you are going to get tendonitis. Place a rubber band around your fingers and open your hand will help with prevention,
  5. the "new" DVC Limited with the island barrel is pretty awesome honestly.
  6. yup! Or send it off to a competent gunsmith to add serrations.
  7. I had a "long" break between sept and Dec from shooting. I have only shot 2 matches since Dec. So going into those matches I had very little expectation. Interestingly enough, i did exceptionally well on the first stage on both matches....then proceeded to bomb the second stage. I think just going into the first stage with the mentality that im just gonna shoot the targets, use my front sight, and just enjoying the fact im shooting a stage really removed all the bs related to performance. as Lanny Bassham says, i 'trusted, instead of tried'.
  8. I bought the egw mini paddle ($10). you can pretty much shape it however you want. I haven't had any issues with accidentally hitting it during stages or classifiers.
  9. there has been a resurgence of Single Stack shooters in the PNW lately.
  10. I have noticed significant improvements in my trigger presses by doing 'trigger press at speed' in dryfire. basically you hold the unloaded and ready to fire pistol on target with your finger off or just barely on the trigger (no trigger prep), when the buzzer goes off, you press the trigger and drop the hammer. this will teach you 2 things. 1. how much/little pressure you need to apply to the trigger to make it go bang. 2. how to keep the signs from moving when you press the trigger.
  11. I use green FO front, black rears. I zero'd at 20 using the FO as the Point of Impact if the tops of the sights are lined up.
  12. like all things in this sport, these actions look natural and effortless because people spend countless hours and thousands of reps practicing simple movements like reloading and draws at home. Try to spend 10 minutes a day on your draw. You will build the muscle memory and eventually will not even have to look at the pistol.
  13. body weight workouts to begin with are great. squats, lunges, planks, push ups.
  14. If you are only loading 1 caliber, then leaving the powder in the tube is fine (in my opinion). Its when you are doing multiple calibers where removing the powder after each reloading session is advisable.
  15. thats what i use. 4.8gr N320 w 180gr bayou @ 1.17 oal. 171 PF.
  16. i've used prescription safety glasses in the past, and just this last year i went with the rudy rydon with the RX inserts. its expensive, but i really like it.
  17. I have created dummy rounds using a different projectile than what i would normally use. So basically jacketed projectiles when i shoot coated bullets. I also ensure the brass doesnt have a primer, and lastly i put all kinds of marks on the cases with permanent marker so i can easily tell its not a real round. works well for simulating the actual weight of a loaded magazine/pistol.
