  1. Lots of us are shooting Dissident Arms Vepr12s in 3 gun with great success. The guns are rock solid from DA. I have 25 round drum and 20, 18, 15 and 12 round box magazine options that all work great. #onlyshootopen
  2. great looking blaster! I really like the black and blue.
  3. The best advise I could give you is dry fire like crazy to make shooting a dot second nature... Buy quality gear and save if necessary to make that happen. Don't settle for a "budget" or "entry level" rig or you may get frustrated and end up spending what you would have on a high end gun, just getting the "budget" gun running reliably. Once you get a load you like stick with it. Welcome to the party!
  4. I tossed a JP EZ fire control kit in my Home build AR last year. The adjustments allow you to dial the trigger exactly where you want it. Takes a little fine tuning, but I ran well over 20k 223 through that gun last year and the trigger caused zero issues. Light, short pull with a crisp break and very short positive reset. I have no idea why more people don't run these triggers.
  5. I had Hawkeye do an M2 for me a couple years back. Very nice work. I would have no hesitation using them again.
  6. Very nice blaster... Looking forward to getting my Atlas Gunworks pistol soon!
  7. I run Vortex Razors on my PCC... I am running the 3 Moa versions and Target transitions are fast with these reflex optics.
  8. Question for the group. I currently run 55 grain burner ammo for short range and 69 grain for long range targets in 3 gun. I am sick of having different zeros to remember and would like to simplify my rifle game... Other than cost and a potential decrease in long range accuracy on a windy day can you think of any other disadvantage to running 62 grain ammo for everything? I run a 16" JP PSC-11 with 1:8 twist.
  9. 147 isn't a real popular 9mm major bullet weight. 115s and 124s allow more gas through the comp. ORM Tech Ammunition sells a 115 grain 9mm major load that I have been shooting for about 6 months now with great success. Its Factory new ammo, not reloads and might be what you are looking for.
  10. what bullet weight is their 9mm major ammo? 147?
  11. I have been happy with the JP comp on my GMR13. Not much gas on a standard 9mm cartridge and going crazy hot like 9mm major in a blow back gun isn't ideal either. I found a sweet spot in the middle with 115's around 132pf using Hodgdon's longshot... gets the comp going a little and shoots flat and soft.
  12. I run the Glock big stick 31 rounders with taylor bases as my primary big stick mag. for classifiers and reloads I have glock 17 oem mags with Dawson extensions (140mm) that have a little weight so they drop out nice and quick on classifiers and reload easy.
  13. Glocks are limited to magazine limits for OAL. If you run heavy plated, jacketed or FMJ round nose bullets you can load out to 1.155 for a lone wolf barrels. the coated bullets would need to be shorter or they may stick when showing clear causing a squib at the end of your stage (did that) and dump powder inside your glock.
  14. I run my JP GMR13 just the way it came from JP. I run light bullets with Hodgdon Longshot at 130pf and the dot tracks well. I dialed my load in for the gun vs changing the gun for my load.
  15. Dissident Arms is the list... Mike and Lan will take care of you and get you in a rock solid reliable gun.
  16. I actually run 2 red dots on my OPEN division shotgun. primary dot is zeroed at 15 yards for birdshot. Canted dot is zeroed at 100 yards for slugs. has been working well for me so far. I run Vortex Razor and Venom dots. The Venom dots have given me no trouble but can wash out in bright sunlight over snow or white sand. The Razor has never washed out so I am moving to all Vortex Razor dots for 2017
  17. Stiffer hulls help in all mag fed shotguns. It really helpd feeding and stops the nose of the hull from deforming when it hits the feed ramp too. My Vepr12 runs great on AA shells, but as added security I keep my hulls in a cooler on the range to keep them from getting to warm as the heat makes hulls softer. This trick has nearly eliminated malfunctions in my OPEN shotgun.
  18. Vortex Razor Red dot 3 MOA. Nice compact option. I like these little dots because they don't block my field of view. Very bright and durable optics.
  19. I run Razor Red dots on my pistols, rifles and shotguns. The Venom dots are ok, but the Razors are very nice. Extremely bright and as durable as anything else I have tried.
  20. I have run 3 different SBR's competitively (for fun)... I ran my MAC 10 for steel challenge, My 10.5 inch 5.56 for 3 gun (match grade Noveske Barrel is good to 300) and my Mini Draco just for fun at a bay style rifle match. Sometimes its fun to bring your "non competition" toys just for fun. With that said, I have been seeing a lot more 13.5 and 14.5 AR's with pinned brakes doing really well in the bay matches. compact package with enough barrel to reach out when necessary.
  21. they have 147's... I want lots of gas and have found i dont even like the feel of the heavier 124 bullets. I much prefer the 115's. I wouldnt be interested in a 147 grain major load. Really looking for something with tons of gas from a slow burning powder to work the comp.
  22. Who sells 9mm major ammo with 115's? I have looked, but haven't been able to find any.
  23. I have been loading 9mm major with Hodgdon HS6 and 115's pushing FMJ bullets around 1500fps and love the feel of the ammo in my blaster. Between the cost of components and all the time wrapped up in the reloading, prep, pickup and QC I figure I pay a healthy price per round (time is money). I approached a local ammo company about the possibility of having them load my 30k 9mm for the year and they let me know they would be happy to load factory new (not reloaded brass) 9mm major ammo (115's and 124's) to my specs if there was a bigger market for this specialized ammo. I figured I would start here... I realize that making major is critical to USPSA open shooters and that different barrel lengths, rifling etc will affect velocity and performance. With that said, If you could buy 9mm major that passed a chrono, was accurate and at a fair price (In say 1-5k orders) that was factory new would you be interested or are you just as addicted to reloading as you are to shooting?
  24. OpenLife (Mike Whitesides) from Dissident Arms will get you taken care of with some tuned 20 rounders. They take some work to get running if you build them on your own. Get them off of Dissident Arms and you will be good to go.
