  1. Good point. All that $$ savings is down the drain if you get to Nationals and have to slap your big stick on the magnet and it flys off before you need it. That's the kicker... If you lose the magazine once (even at a local match) it was a bad move... Screw it. Just bought the DAA magnet!
  2. eern, following the OPEN pistols forum? I get you to shoot 1 match OPEN and now your hooked huh... Put your single stack and limited guns up for sale in the classifieds and get an OPEN blaster already!
  3. Very nice... i hadnt seen that the magnet could be purchased on its own. That would be ideal to save belt space.
  4. I have my first 2011 (CK Arms Thunder Open gun) on its way and am wondering what you guys are running for a belt magnet for table starts and show clear storage after a run. I run a complete CR Speed belt setup and will want a magnet that attaches to the belt securely but doesn't take up to much space as I am a 3 gunner and need my belt space. Let me know what you use. Any pics would be much appreciated!
  5. Matt Cheely told me about the Black one. It is what they are putting in my Pistol CK Arms is building. Not sure where to find a link, but Matt or Bobby could probably get you taken care of.
  6. I may end up trying that down the road if i cant find an actual insert.
  7. I am looking for a red insert for my CK Arms 2011 open gun.... I can only find black and white replacement options available. Anybody know where to find a red one?
  8. I tried a 115gr hp at 7gr of hs6 loaded at 1.13. It shot GREAT nice and flat at around 1200 fps but it was very dirty. Here is a pic after just 20 rounds of chrono. Do you have this issue? Yes, it is dirty with the HS6 and bayou combo, but I love the feel of the HS6 in my open guns. Tried other stuff but keep going back to Hodgdon. when i run FMJ it is a bit cleaner, but I have never had malfunctions due to the fouling. I have just accepted that I will have to clean it between matches.
  9. Thanks for the feedback! I went with the steel grip on my CK Arms build.
  10. Care to share your charge and oal for major and minor load with hs6? I run 115 grain fmj's at 1.155 and 8.7 grains HS6 with federal small rifle or pistol primers and range pickup brass. no pressure signs and shoots flat. I have 2 different barrels, one runs around 171pf (the one in the gun) and the other runs at 176pf so work up to this vs starting here. I can make major with 8.5grains of HS6 and the same oal, but the gun feels better at 8.7
  11. that is beautiful.... Yep i have a Glock 17 Open gun that runs like a top, but am ready to make the move to the 2011. What was the biggest difference for you? Grip angle?
  12. I am getting ready to make a move on a CK Arms 2011 Open gun in 9mm for USPSA and 3 gun. For $400 extra I can get the Steel grip... Is it worth the coin? I shoot open now and know that the heavier the lower/frame and the lighter the slide the faster the gun cycles. I also prefer 115 grain projectiles for the faster feel... Any reason not to get the steel grip other than cost? I figure I am already spending a pile of money for what i want... might as well get it the way i want it. Just want to get some feedback from you guys who have shot the polymer and steel grips and see if there is a big difference.
  13. Mine runs terrific. Homebuild with 10-15k 9mm major and another 5k minor through it so far... 90 degree cmore mount Carver 4 port comp lone wolf barrel glock 17 gen 3 sjc frame weight stainless guiderod with 11# spring 3lb striker spring with Zev Fulcrom Ultimate kit - trigger and striker setup (basically all the guts) - (I swap all springs about every 5k) jp magwell taylor freelance big stick extensions 115 grain bullets, fed small pistol primers with HS6 running at 171pf It can be done... takes quality parts, patience and a solid understanding of loading and load development, basic gunsmithing and a parts bin of extra parts (springs ect for tuning to your load)
  14. I run bayou bullets 115's with 6.5grainsbof HS6 at 1.1 and federal small pistol primers. Nice flat gassy minor load.
  15. 11lbs is the lowest weight recoil spring that will run in a glock 10 wont always lock the round into battry. I run a carver 3 port comp for minor and 4 port comp for major. That comp is too effective for low pf minor. With your mount you will most likely need to kower the port, but the comp will also be an issue with low pf minor. I run a 90 degree cmore sjc mount to avoid the ejection issue.
  16. Hey Guys, I am looking for a reloading manual that goes into the Physics of reloading. I really want to learn more about how to get the most out of my guns with my reloads and understand Pressure, Velocity, Dram Equivalent etc. I know the basics, have loaded plenty of ammo with my pet loads but want to understand the "why behind the what". Who knows of a manual or book that will cover what i am looking for?
  17. sounds like 13# may be a good fit with a full length guiderod. buy the 11-15 package from ISMI on Lone Wolfs site and try them all to see what feels and runs the best. that way you can tune the gun based on actual changes vs guessing.
  18. Yeah, once the rod and spring are paired up right you should be good to go!
  19. #13 for me. just like how fast the sights come back to target. I run the SJC weight and a thumbrest too. really fast followup shots.
  20. I stick with 13lb springs in my 35. it does sound like mag springs could be an issue here.
  21. I run a carver guide rod, 13lb spring. It is a feel thing feel like the sights drop back on target quicker...
  22. My first match I ran a Eotech on my AR, mossberg pump hunting shotgun (4+1) and my glock 19 carry gun and had fun doing it. I pulled shells out of my pocket for shotgun reloads and learned how to run a stage safely. Whatever gear you have will work to get your started. Once you get on the range talk to the guys who shoot stages the way you wish you could and learn. upgrade gear as you go and sooner than later you will be broke like the rest of us 3 gunners! its worth it...
  23. Early on i ripped off shots and makeup shots like crazy. I have been working hard to shoot my sights on all guns.... i shoot open with a dot so i should be able to call them like on a pistol target. Thats what i am working on too.
