  1. Absolutly run the weight... i run one on a limited and open glock and it does quite a bit to calm muzzle flip. I run a CR speed holster.
  2. ELS for any division but OPEN. i run belt clips on my shotgun mags and hang them off a CRSpeed belt in Open.

    Major 9 OAL

I run a different platform, but run 9mm major at 1.155 with 115's and HS6 without issue. My magazines limit my oal more than you guys with steel guns, but 3500 rounds so far through my glock open gun without issue with this oal at 170-171pf.
  4. I shoot to compete. I was born a competitor, grew up that way in a house full of other kids, competed in every sport i could get into as a younger man and became a sales rep at a tech firm early on because I am driven to compete. I LOVE to compete. nothing gets me going quite like head to head competition and the timer keeps that alive for me.
  5. Trubor seems to be the consensus... 9mm major is the way to go unless your loaded and spendy brass is not an issue.
  6. I run a lone wolf barrel and Carver 4 port comp and had LW open up the chamber slightly to allow for slightly longer OAL. I had the 3 port carver comp and didnt like it for 9mm major. I run 90% Major (in my 4 port) and have 3500-4000 rounds through it (170PF) with only a couple issues. 9mm major is hard on guns. it takes weaknesses and exaggerates them.. For instance. I ran a rear slide plate slide racker that after 2000 rounds of 9mm major started sliding out of position randomly and stopping the gun from going into battery. Had to put the factory rear plate back on. LW will run major. Glock will run fine, just know that you will have to do some Preventative Maintenance like on any other redlining race machine to keep her running.
  7. Hey OpenLife, What is that handguard???? custom for your customer or do you sell them?
  8. I run ELS if I am running TAC op and CR Speed rig if running open division. Best advice i can give is show up and shoot. See what others run, try it before spening tons of cash. I learned from experience. I have 2 extra belt setups, shotgun caddies, comps, triggers, and stocks i thought would be great and now never use...
  9. great topic. I am looking at putting on a Magpul PRS stock on my 18" competition rifle which currently has a carbine buffer system in it. was curious how this buffer change would affect performance. Think i have my answers.
  10. comfortable, and great traction. Hard to be fast on a big stage if you cant get footing.
  11. Jogger stroller and ATV racks is the way to go. find one that the backrest folds back and drop a big tupperwear tub in there and you have space for gear, ammo tools and anything else you might need on the range. All in for $60 bucks with a good find on craigslist.
  12. Give me a reliable, accurate, soft shooting rifle with good ergonomics and I am usually happy. Trigger is key. I like the JP EZ trigger myself, but find what works best for you. A good comp is helpful and I just started running an SLR adjustable gas block so i can tune my gun to the loads i am running and man is it soft shooting. solid trigger, barrel and comp minimum and a stock and grip that work for you and fine tune the rest.
  13. These things are sweet optics. I am a big fan of anything Vortex especially the Viper and Razor glass
  14. Hey guys, Getting into loading shotgun and I like to keep as few powders on hand as possible. I use titegroup for my 9mm minor rounds (uspsa pf) and am getting ready to load 12 gauge for 3 gun... titegroup burns fast and hot in pistol. Is it safe to say my shotgun would be hotter than if i were to run something like titewad? with weapon manipulation on the range during a match, guys burn their support hand on shotguns all the time while reloading. Just want to make sure titegroup wouldnt be significantly hotter (temp) than your average store bought similar load.
  15. I run a VEPR12 in 3 gun with 20 round custom mags, R&R coupler and spring, Carolina Shooter Supply GK01 copy brake, and have had a terrific experience. The only trouble i have had has been when i tried running a lighter recoil spring with my custom mags. The spring tension in the mag was greater than the recoil sping so it wouldnt reliably chamber a shell. Since i went back to stock, full power springs and 1300fps shells she is good to go. Great gun....
  16. Xrail for sure if you are running a tube gun in open... I have seen Jerry run the old speed loaders and keep up with the box fed boys (beat them too) but most that run tubes without xrail fall behind the box fed mag guys. Just what i have seen....
  17. indoors over winter i zero at 10 yds and summer shooting outdoors i zero at 20. Just practice 3-50 like others have said and get used to where you are hitting at distance. my stage plan consists of footwork, shooting positions and dot position per target. before long it becomes as much the stage plan as shooting positions...
  18. I have been running the Hornady fmj 115's and HS6 with terrific results. tried several loads and settled here. relatively inexpensive fmj and so far so good.
  19. I dont foresee any issues with running a little longer barrel
  20. That is an interesting idea... I already own the minor Carver comp. Unfortunately the comp on these gets red locktited and I don't really want to pull it off between USPSA and 3 gun matches. Perhaps I could find a cheap slide and have separate uppers. It would pay for itself in 5000 rounds or less, but I am going to try running slightly shorter OAL first to see If i can run the gun with more pressure. I will obviously work my way down slow to play it safe, but I think that would be the ticket if it does the trick.
  21. The powder is the inexpensive piece. If i go 9mm minor i can fun buyou bullets vs fmj and save 3 cents a round. I am shooing 39 3 gun matches (on the calendar so far) in 2016. The cheaper bullet along with the pinch of powder would save me quite a bit over the course of the year.
  22. I run hornady 115's and 8.7grains of HS6 at an OAL of 1.155 with federal small pistol primers. Accurate and shoots flat with my carver comp.
  23. I run a 10 port compensator on the front of her. Takes away most of the pressure. FTE's with PF under 150 range with this comp.
  24. I run a 10 port compensator on the front of her. Takes away most of the pressure. FTE's with PF under 150 range with this comp.
  25. just starting the same thing. Why do so many people seem to say it isn't worth doing? I got a shotmaker and am making 1000lbs of shot before i start loading. Should save me a ton of money.
