  1. Excited to get my hands on one of these for 3 gun. Thanks for the review
  2. When i shoot with guys running open indoors in the MN winter I do run plugs with electronic muffs. It allows me to hear and tolerate the noise. I do the same thing when shooting AR matches indoors and it still does the trick
  3. I grip pretty securely with my strong hand and rest my thumb on the thumb rest vs pressing down on it. I grip all my guns in a similar way. do what is comfortable as long as it is working for you. If it isn't try something new!
  4. I run a Glock 17 with a lone wolf barrel and run 9mm major with HS6 and 115's. very flat shooting. Still working on a 9mm minor load that works the comp... In general on an open gun the best feel for me is slow powder and light bullets
  5. I cycled 3 times through my Noveske and the difference was .0022. I load to 2.20 so i havent been too worried to this point, but figured i would see what others do
  6. I am about 5k into loading 223 for next shootings season (3 gun) and a buddy told me i was nuts for not crimping my 223. I run my brass through the sizing and decapping die before trimming and actually once more after tumbling and swagging to make sure the primer hole is free of media (i know the second sizing affects case length). The neck tension is solid and i have not seen a round that had me worried. Should I be? I understand that the bolt carrier in my AR slams the round into the feed ramp and could shorten my OAL, but I have tested this and it is next to nothing after charging the weapon.
  7. I like the look of this brake for my 3 gun rifle. It looks almost like a 2 chamber SJC.... nice and short (for my 18"gun) relatively inexpensive. Anybody run one?
  8. I have a Glock 17 open gun that i run 9mm major loads in (170pf) and want to run it for 3 gun too (no power factor requirement). To keep my loads as cheap as possible i am thinking about running some 9mm minor for 3 gun. The issue is my standard 9mm minor wont run the gun reliably. I already run an 11# recoil spring so lightening the springs wont work. 9mm minor loads are 115's at 130pf with titegroup and federal small pistol primers Here is the question.... I run my 9mm minor at 1.135. If I shortened the overall length and kept the load the same that should give me the pressure i need to run the gun right? I have loaded 20k plus rounds pistol and 223, but i load my pet loads and haven't explored much with customizing them beyond hitting PF or ideal velocities. Please help me understand the pressure vs OAL concept before I mess with this on the range. thanks,
  9. Yes Carver and SJC do make slide rackers but they are all straight with no curve. It would be very tight under the Cmore or on the wrong side (my opinion) to work...
  10. I am looking for a pretty specific slide racker for my Open Glock 17 that will fit in the Dovetail. I had a rear slide plate racker that started to come out of position running 9mm major. I am looking for a better solution. I run an SJC 90 degree CMore mount and want one of the dovetails slide rackers that angles back and down after the dovetail so i can get my hand in there under the Cmore. It will also have to have an allen head or something to tighten down in the dovetail so i can remove the racker as i need to be able to pull it off on the fly to remove the slide. Are the dovetails the same as on the 2011 pistols? are the smaller? i wouldnt mind sanding it down to size... Thanks for any feedback!
  11. I run the sjc weight on my open glock 17 and limited glock 35. it makes a huge difference. It weighs about 6 ounces. I would definately recommend something like the sjc weight.
  12. I run my 9mm major loads for both so i dont have to mess with my press.... my pistol doesnt shoot as flat with minor anyway.
  13. Hey Greg, Stock ammo in 40 doesn't produce much gas to help keep the muzzle down and work the comp. typically the guys who run 40 with a comp run 135 grain reloads with a slow burning powder at a pretty high velocity to get the gas to make a comp work. If you wanted to use store bought ammo you may or may not notice much of a difference when adding the comp. If it is any anything goes match, i would use 22 round big sticks and the G22 as it sits. At least you will have a few extra rounds. Josh Froelich
  14. I run a Zev Fulcrom Ultimate Kit with 2lb striker spring and the extended striker. I tried running federal small rifle primers (9mm major) and had light strikes on about 3% of rounds. I since switched back to small pistol primers and have had zero failures in over 2000 rounds and there are no pressure signs on my primers so will keep running the spp.
  15. I run plastic for a few reasons. I carry a Glock 19 and didn't want to add an external safety to my competition gun. I also use if for 3 gun and like the idea of being able to dump the loaded gun without having to worry about flipping that safety switch up. Is the trigger as good as a 2011? nope, but with the Zev Fulcrom Ultimate Kit, SJC frame weight, 90 degree Cmore mount with thumbrest, heavy guide rod, 11# spring and Carver 4 port comp, my G17 runs like a dream with 115's for 9mm major USPSA or 100's for 3 gun (around 1450fps). Will i ever go the 2011 route? who knows, but the Glock runs and doesn't hold me back to this point.
  16. If i am hearing you guys right, the plate to protect the optic doesn't do that much to prevent the blowback residue? It will need to be cleaned regularly anyway right? So a mount without a protective plate would be fine... I might have to try that tape trick.
  17. Long time reader. First time poster. I owe you guys a lot for helping me figure out my 9mm major loads, accuracy issues at that velocity and training techniques. Here is a bit of a complicated question i am hoping someone has actual experience with.... I run a Glock 17 with Carver comp and at the moment Iron sights in open USPSA division and 3 gun. I run HS6 powder behind 115's to make Major velocity and it blows a dirty mess back and coats the front two inches of the slide. It is about time i put an optic on the pistol. I like the SJC Micro mounts look and size, but it has no gas/blowback plate protecting the optic. Anybody run this combination? Does the blowback residue from the HS6 cloud the optic? Is this an issue? If so i will have to remove the SJC micro mount from my wishlist and figure something else out.
