Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. I've worked as RO or CRO at a dozen or so national matches ( in addition to a large number of level 2 and 3 matches.) I've never come out ahead. But I enjoy working them and the compensation does help defray the expenses some. It is definitely not a vacation per se. But without a detailed look at the organiztion's finances we're whistling in the dark for cutting expenses
  2. Mark your calendars! Registration for the 2024 Icore Midwest Regional will go live on Practiscore on January 2nd. The match will be held on September 7th; more detailed information is available on the registration page. This match will be presented by Taurus. Will be adding more sponsors as we go along. The wheel fun starts here; next week: https://practiscore.com/icore-midwest-regional-presented-by-taurus/register
  3. You might take a look at DL sports. I have one of his grips on one of my 929 revos. Warren (aka Tool Guy) was favorably impressed with them at the last Desoto Icore match. https://dlsports.com/dlsports-performance-revolver-grips-for-smith-and-wesson-kln-roundbutt-frames.html It was nice shooting with you at that match also.
  4. I worked the recent Handgun National match. I (we) made several FTSA calls. Nobody disputed them. The stage had 4 basic shooting stops and we knew how many rounds were required at a minimum. Position #1 was 7 rounds, position #2 was 2, position #3 was 4 ( with a mandatory halt to engage a zebra with hard left lean), position #4, 6 rounds. Most common was blowing by #2 or not getting the leaner on #3. Counting shots was critical on this stage also. A production shooter going into #3 would take 2 open target shots and 3 at the leaner. If he didn't go into slide lock there would be an issue. Thankfully that never happened. We worked together and kept track of them.
  5. Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed it because I thoroughly enjoyed running it. Planning on doing it next year , first Saturday in September. Hope to see everyone again with a few additional shooters.
  6. That happens when you an old fart playing around and trying different things with the tablet.
  7. Sorry, but optic equipped guns do not belong in an iron sight match. What were they thinking ( or not thinking)?
  8. Well, I loaded them and took them to the range. In bottom feeders and PCC they went bang 100% of the time. In revolver, they went off 6 out 8 double action. Single action would light them all though.
  9. The MIidwest regional match is coming up soon. The wheel fun starts here: https://practiscore.com/cornhusker-classic-midwest-icore-regional/register
  10. They are made in Indonesia. I got 200 off a prize table. Some company in Iowa is importing them and will sell them wholesale. Only need to order 900,000 minimum order. Wondering how easy or hard they are. Loaded them up and see if I can detonate any on my next range trip.
  11. Has anybody here used these primers? Exakt EXT-9 small pistol primers.
  12. I'll always use overlays on close call. Another thing, as an RO, you can't get upset it when a shooter calls for an overlay. IMHO, they paid the match fee and deserve a fair, accurate call. I've had calls overridden by the RM at big matches; so what. I'm trying score and keep the match moving as quickly as possible, mistakes can happen. A beef I have is with a RO who starts trying to tell the RM what he scored and why. NO! Let the RM score it, that's what you are supposed to do, not sell him on your call.
  13. zw: This will be my new carry gun. I'm happy with trigger the way it is, thanks for info though.
