  1. The advantage to Minor PF is typically quicker follow up shots on steel and hopefully faster transitions. Steel is usually 'proofed' to a very low PF ~119PF. Try a Minor load if you want, just don't go ridiculously low. The 155gr swap is a good tip for 40S&W.
  2. I always verify it after a component change. For any existing pre-tested load with no changes, I'll check it once in the Fall when the weather cools.
  3. My priorities for Minor are (in order) feeding reliability, accuracy, subsonic, recoil/return to POA.

    Howdy!

Some of us could certainly use tips on shooting the far away stuff. Welcome to the forum, Homux!

  6. Great primers, no issues for me. Wish I could find more primers, in general

You definitely need a chrono. There isn't a linear relationship. That being said, the same load with a shorter COL will typically have more PSI than the same load with a longer COL. My experience going from 40S&W MajorPF loads for 2011 use at 1.185" COL to the same load for a G35 at 1.140" makes a +2-5% difference. Shot in the same 5" 2011 barrel. Minor PF changes in COL seem to vary much more widely.
  8. Not shooting 9Major. I run 1.150"-1.160" for most 115gr, 124/5gr, but can run longer. I'm unwilling to assign one load to one pistol, so I keep it 1.160" or less. 147gr was on a case by case basis and often a touch shorter.
  9. Generally I try to avoid smudges/grime on the lens, but when necessary...
  10. An abomination. My eyes! I think my eyes are bleeding.

  15. Ummmmm wow! Tactical Timmy has got discretionary $$$ to waste it seems.
  16. I run JHP (~20%), but practice mostly (~80%) with coated. Hi-Tek coated run faster for me and are much much cleaner to load and shoot than lubed lead. Not as clean as jacketed, but the difference is minor. Slug your barrel(s) and select the best size (bore +0.001) to buy.
  17. Option A: More time behind the dot. Yes, it takes some time to familiarize yourself to it. Work on the presentation. Over and over - same every time. Don't even need to spend $ on ammo. Option B: Embrace the irons again.
  18. I use Hornandy M-1's (vibratory) in the garage and separate the brass from the media in an open air area. Wish to limit my lead exposure so I don't do this inside. I'm too lazy to decap prior to tumbling (like I used to) so my media gets dirty. Can't imagine wet processing the same batch, twice! Betting you get a nice clean result though. Decapping and wet tumbling prior is going to really cut down on lead dust in the media. I think you are good to go tumbling inside with a decent fitting lid, but I'd still consider separating the media outside.
  19. Oh geez, think I can recall that packaging in my Grandpa's shop back in the day. Desperate times eh? Storage conditions are everything when buying primers that um...far out, man.
  20. Curious to hear about what you may find in direct comparisons. Please keep us posted.
