  1. Wow, that may be one of the best looking blasters I've seen in recent memory.
  2. cpa5oh, check out this one from CZC, it's on my wish list for my TS as a drop in replacement for the factory rear sight: https://czcustom.com/trtchampionlpacutts.aspx
  3. Smoothdraw, I've got a 9mm TS running a 7.5mm fiber optic front sight with POI just at the top of POA from 5-15 yards using 124gr Xtreme FP with 4.0gr WST and 1.085 OAL. It's a pretty accurate load. Beyond 15 yards my eyes aren't good enough to see the holes at distance (can't "call my shots" quite yet), but I can group a full mag on a sheet of paper at that distance without a lot of skill. Not a great example, but indoor range 10-shot groups: 7 yards - hold on the X center (I still jerk the trigger a bit so my shots typically go left) 15 yards - hold on center of head mass 25 yards - hold on the "7" (one flyer to the left)
  4. No idea how I pulled I it off. The "B" class guys were shooting the stage around mid-6 seconds. I pulled off a 5.34 second grip-it-and-rip-it with a mandatory reload with 15 A's and 1 C. Pretty good for a usually C class shooter! I was so amped up I miked out on the next stage! At least the guys stopped calling me a sandbagger after that follow up performance. )
  5. Check out PowerFactor show on YouTube, I watched their first episodes when I got into USPSA and found them very informative. You can read the rule book and get the basics too. You'll need one more mag to shoot production (i think max round count is 32 per stage in the rule book...but some clubs may design a stage with 32+ just for fun). You could shoot Limited minor, start cocked and locked, and fill your mags if you run into a stage that needs 30+ rounds. I started that way with my 75B.
  6. And the link to the same topic on the CZ forum: http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=44860.0
  7. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=199271#entry2210611 Not the first person with that issue. I just added skate tape to my front strap, but I think the best upgrade would be removing the checkering... Still holding off on doing it to mine.
  8. Extreme 124gr fmj flat nose, oal 1.085 Extreme 124gr fmj round nose, oal 1.15 Wst 4.0gr on each Need to chrono but brass ejects 2-3ft out of my TS on both.
  9. The white background is the same segmented LCD technology as most digital watches. I've used it on the outdoor range while wearing dark sunglasses, at the indoor range (pretty well lit), and in my basement dry firing. No issues or complaints in any conditions. The white background model does have a illuminate button that turns the background black and font white for about 5-6 seconds if viewed in darker conditions.
  10. I happened on a set of Quietpro (originally designed by Nacre and recently acquired by Honeywell). They are active noise canceling, in ear, with a cord that runs to the brains box I put on my belt. Big catch, not sure if you can buy a new pair, intended for military use but you can find them used on eBay. Around $200-250. They have a "quiet mode" (aka wolf ears by the guys that we did some testing with at ft belvoir), but I didn't have much luck during on the couch and amplifying the speaker sound more than without them on. I think it amplifies sound out beyond a certain distance...not typical living room distances. http://www.honeywellsafety.com/Products/Hearing/Intelligent_Hearing_Protection/QUIETPRO_QP400.aspx?site=/americas I do get a couple questions at local matches when I wear them. Comfort is decent as any in-ear, non-custom fit unit. Be sure to get a variety of ear plug sizes. Smalls fit me but gaps appear when i smile or open my jaw. Mediums seal best but comfort level decreases. The brains of the unit do a seal test when you turn it on, so no sneaking by with the wrong size. Originally intended to plug into voice comm (mbitr radios only), so the real brains turn the in-ear into a microphone...cool stuff if you have a buddy that had the same gear/radio.
  11. Yes, you beat me to the punch getting back on the forum. The battery was at 68% when it exhibited the buzz issue. I charged it overnight and it was back to normal, so not a hardware issue. That said, I tried updating to the new firmware on my Macbook tonight but it isn't working (gets about halfway thru installing the text file and stops). I'll try again on my PC at work tomorrow (I had success updating the firmware with the PC when I first got the SM a few weeks ago). UPDATE: my fault on the firmware update not working on my macbook, i didn't see the "_MACOSX" folder in the .zip file. I did successfully update it on my work PC though! Thanks again for your top notch customer support! First product I've bought that has a near direct link back to the dev team...
  12. Thanks for that link, Husker. Good to see your masterpiece being born! And ask the other great handiwork out there on custom TS's. Mentally prepping myself to do the grip reduction after this season.
  13. I think I've got one of the bad sound wafers. Mine is only a couple weeks old, white face model. Dry fire practice and the beep started to buzz. If I hold it at a different angle the buzz changes tone a little...very mechanical sounding. Eli, I'll send you an email to see if those symptoms match what you know.
  14. I had my lgs duracoat my magwell for me...that was a silly idea. A single dry fire session and it's all scratched up and wearing off. I'll buff it off with some fine sandpaper and see if it can look cool. Thanks for highlighting the anodizing vs cerakote toughness, that was my next step for doing the frame. I'll take a look at springer precision too. Great info guys.
  15. Just started this year...with an AccuShadow! Niiice.
  16. 4 days of reading this thread... Chuckling on the couch, chortling at my desk, and giggling in bed (like usual). I'm looking forward to my next LGS visit so I can add to this! You guys rock!!
  17. Welcome from CR! This is a great forum - a lot of good info out there all in one place. Hope to see you on the range!
  18. I think the Czechmates and TS's ship from CZ-UB in late-Summer...we'll see if they match the last two years. I'm sure a more veteran CZ follower/fanboy may know better than me, but so far it seems they ship their metal framed guns in groups each quarter. Any one else seen this pattern? Q1: full size Q2: compacts Q3: competition Q4, ? Just my observation from stalking CZ's on gunbroker and my LGS.
  19. Following up with my own experimenting, just in case someone else runs into this scenario and is searching the forum... CZC base pads for 170mm were not machined to fit on the standard factory mag and run reliably. Too hard getting the 20th rd in (for 9mm). I'm returning the non-extended basepads to CZC for the extended base pads PLUS getting their spring/follower kit. $38 per base pad $17 per spring/follower kit BUT it will fit with the CZC magwell AND put me up to 23 rds of 9mm! Bring on those long stages with 10+ targets. The stock frame and 23 rds in the mag will make for a very heavy pistol though. Better hit the gym.
  20. +1 on using a timer. I had no idea I was one of the slower shooters at our club until recently...
  21. Just picked up the czc aluminum base pads (not the extended ones) to match their ipsc sized magwell. Now I can't get 20 rounds of 9mm to fit in reliably. Do I trim half a coil off the spring?
  22. Welcome from CR, IA! This is one of the best forums for the sport...one of the rare sites where the old guys (and even a couple of the sponsored pros) regularly log in to teach young guys like me!
  23. Atlas wins the "collector status" badge any day! Here's my favorites, both set up for competition. Compact L with FO front and tactical rear sight, also vz frags in grey/black. Tactical Sports with IPSC sized magwell, black aluminum grips (filed down to fit the magwell), and FO front sight.
  24. +1 for Starline if you have the funding
  25. I've only made about 2K rounds since I got my press. The dirty primer cup wasn't that bad, just residue from the deprimed brass mostly. I loaded a few more handfuls of rounds today and the click happened again but much more muted this time so no powder jumped out of the case moving to station #3. But the spilled powder from the clicking has added to the mess...my compulsiveness for cleanliness will win out before it affects the press.
