  1. Someone needs to film this, so we can watch them dropping like flies. Not sure how much of a gun skill test this will be.
  2. I read an interesting article about MIM somewhere and they claim the metal density is about 95% of a cast part. Now Cast parts have a density that varies around the 95% mark also. I believe they are all comparing that to cold rold steel density. I also don't believe that density is the only factor, it is how the part reacts to repeated impact and stress. Unless somebody here works at a aerospace machine shop area, or gear cutter, or tool & Die where they have access to a variety of steels I doubt we will find out. All of the stress failures I've seen with mim and investment cast look like packed grains of sand under a 20 power scope. The hot rolled steels and forge steels don't show that grainy structure under a 20X scope. One tool and Die guy told me that when you cut it on a lathe, the curl that comes off will tell alot about the quality of the steel. So chime in Tool & Die guys!
  3. When people say the fell less recoil without the buff, they are probably having spring bind with the buff installed. Check this out. Loat of variance in the length of spring tunnel. Especially with replacement plugs. Upto 5/16 differenc.

    An Elegant Evening

2.21 here in florida. Land of gators and mosquitos
  5. I've been a Trijicon fan using the ACOG and Reflex with diamond chevron. Read about the Simmons pro diamond, found a leupold scope with the same spec's FOV, exit pupil, etc. Just got it in. Looks good. Will let you know soon. Might have couple of ACOG for sale and a Reflex.
  6. I'm an Al Bundy fan, it ain't the dress that makes you look fat, it the FAT!!!! I want to No Mam T-shirt like Al and his drinking buddies had.
  7. I work for the state myself. yes it true what they say, all of it. What is required is keep your opinions to yourself, kiss-ass to the boss. Smile and dress nice. No one is qualified to evaluate your work. I believe it all started with Nixon, culminated with Clinton. Add that to the finanical scandals. I think Martha Stewart has more balls, they any of those other bums from WorldCom, etc cooking the books companies. Especially the stock brokers. So the average guys knows that everyone is out for themselves, honest hard work is for fools, the only sin is getting caught, and if you stole enough it doesn't matter cause you can hire lawyers to get you off. Add to that the growing welfare group that believes they are entitled to welfare as some God given right. Who then have more children to stay on welfare who grow with the same if not worse attitudes. Have you noticed the attitude of the fast food employees that are on those welfare supplimented jobs. They have wonderful attitudes. We don't have people skilled enough to flip burgers or make change. During the 60's America's kids were the brightest in the World, now we don't even rank with other industrialized nations of the world. Thank God for immigrants who have skills and work ethics. But what about our kids?
  8. Rock River is a good choice, however for 3gun I don't feel the National Match is a good choice. My selection would be either a 16 or 20 inch stainless wilson barrel. I prefer the 16 mid length. I would get a free float tube on a flat top receiver. Then get the clamp on iron sight handle. Now you can shoot in limited class or remove the handle and shoot in another class you decide to. I also would not get the two stage RR trigger it is too different from a single stage pistol. Get a JP single stage or accuracy speaks. Both have drop-ins. For stock I would get the collapse stock as it can be shorten to get the length you want. I prefer the A1 stock rather than the A2. I like having my noise right up there by the charge handle. Don't bother with any of there comps, order one from JP or brownells. You'll have great gun that won't need a morgage, and will not hold you back or feel that your not competitive because of your equipment.

    New Swimsuit

It is amazing what some people can be proud of. To me it not much worse than young women with beer belly's and low rider pants with open mid-rif. I may like watching the Top wiggle when they walk, but I don't care to watch the tummy slosh around.
  10. grip panel lights don't work well for left hand hold, thumb blocks the light, get the guide rod style.
  11. don't buy a double sided knife, you end up cutting yourself. Get a knife with a hilt, again to protect yourself. Lots of nice ones available
  12. You guys are great, good info, I always fix my own appliances. I've saved this info.
  13. To Benny No optics for Limited only. I'm at the bifocal stage and I've spent in last year about $600.00 on different glasses trying to compensate. Finally my last pair the cheapest worked. Bifocal strength in dominate eye so the front sight is sharp like it used to be. The other eye set for infinity. Takes a awhile to get used to them, and I still can't see the holes in distant targets like I used to, but I can aleast hit them now that I can see the fuzz on that front sight again.
  14. First one was clearing a jam, had a stove pipe and cleared it without thinking, in fact it wasn't till many hours later, in bed going through it that I remember I had cleared a jam. Walther PPK Second one was point shooting, don't remember the draw, or clicking the safety, just top of slide and the target, and 2 rounds. Para P12 with commander slide. Now that you don't think I'm a cold blooded killer, first one was robbery at gun point at a gas station, two guys got me from behind and each put a gun in my back. I gave them my money, like I was taught in my LFI class, a ten dollar bill around some ones around my credit card. Told them I wanted no trouble and didn't not want to see there faces. They walked off then saw how little they had gotten and turned to come back. Which had give me time to get my PPK out. They had there pistols buy there sides, looked like a auto and a revolver, I used my car for cover and put round in dirt in front of each of them. Then waited to see the reaction if they would have brought the guns up, I would have emptied that wimpy 32auto on them. I was lucky they went straight up, then around and were gone, have to admit I fired a few more rounds in the dirt behind them. They were fast a foot. Next one was bad guy and his pit bull, when I refused to give up the cash he dropped the leash on pit bull, I drew and dropped that dog faster than I ever thought I could move. Then I had muzzle on him, he had managed to get his hand on his pistol in his waist band, again if I had saw any movement I would have opened up, but he turned and ran also, I fired no more shots. I guess without LFI class I might have shot them both. But after learning about the hassles and lawsuites I think I made the best choices. I bet your wondering where the hell this kinda shit happens, one was at a well lite Exon station near Interstate standing under bright lights. Second one was in a parking lot, dark, behind a nice restarunt, but was adjacent to a bad neighborhood.
  15. The new stuff is fine, it is hot.
  16. I've been in two gun fights, my ipsc training helped in both. So did my LFI class.
  17. Buy an armalite ar10, great quality, put a JP trigger in it your ready to go.

H2 to hummer is like a bleached blond with boob job. It just ain't the same thing, when you look under the hood, you find out its real colors.

  20. My vote goes for Choate, the CA comps went back to brownells
  21. I've read the thread, an we all pretty much agree about open, anything goes. Tactical and limited are two areas of contention. I'm for tactical having barrel length limitations. I'm for limited having no optics. I thinks comps should be allowed in both.
  22. 3AM Christmas night, I had brought home some steak bones for my Rotty. From a sound sleep I hear a wopping dog fight. My Rott goes 120# and is no push over, saw him take on two pit bulls before. It also freezing out, and no moon. I grab a 45acp and head out the door. Then I realize I'm in my underwear and pistol is not enough!. So out comes the 12 gauge #4buck and 3 cell flash light and and some pants and jacket. As I open door they are still going at it. My dogs house is couple hundred feet from house and not a direct eye shot. No lights this out in country woods. I dump a couple rounds in air hoping to quiet things down, still going at it. Time for tactical reload. I start scanning with flash light. Nothing, slow advancing to corner where noise is, and staying out in open. Come around the corner and I got lots of eyeballs in flash light. My dog had one silver and one gold eye and I don't see his reflection I got 3 sets of unknowns. I guess they sensed me about this time because the fighting stops and they are all looking at me. About 20 yards out, I put two more rounds out low over there heads, now they start coming at me slowly. Who knows why I do the same I start moving toward them. We both close the distance, at 25 feet the light now is bright enough I can identify my targets, three large dogs, shepherd, great daine, and dark long hair mutt. I finally spot my dog, he has placed himself strategically with drainage ditch to his back, dog house on right and bush on his left, so they have to come straight at him and can't circle. Great Daine is in the lead, first shot drops him right off, second shot I'm worried its the shepherd and his just to left of mine so I step in closer, second shot, drops him. A quick pump the mutt has hung back I fire a little high and the mutt runs into the darkness. I go over and cut the chain loose from my rotty. We both put our backs to large oak tree, and stand watch in dark listening for a long time. Our pulse is really moving. He had lot of puncture wound on his front quarters. So did the two dead ones. I was impressed at the performance of #4 buck. Now I have a dog gun, 870 with light, laser and extended tube and side saddle with slugs and #4 mixed, it is heavy but hell in those situations I never felt the recoil or herd the blasts, no muffs. If like that one I've couple more, a wounded pit bull under a house, and wild bore in woods.
  23. These are kind of threads I like, lots of emotion, strong opinions, now if were just in a dimly lite room with some good cigars, and whiskey we good get it hashed out!!!! So I'm going to stir the pot. What are we trying to do with division? On a common local match day my guess we are saying for this course of fire today we would like shooter skill to be the major factor, not the only factor in measuring performance. Division are created to satisfy a large groups of users who have a commonality. The should not stifle change by being too restrictive within the groups commonality. So some classes seem pretty obvious Production, some thing you buy off the shelf, up to a tuned version by a smith. Limited, well that's just want we want it to be, no optics no comps. Open, what every fills you need for speed. Tactical, today I guess what would you take into a urban environment for sniping, CQB, self defense. Too me dictates severe environment. So lets say some thing on the wide side in tactical, beta mags. Well if the course of fire is area defense behind sand bags with hoards rushing you. Yeah bring it on! Might be interesting course of fire. Would I want to run down hall ways, and try and get around obstacles when there is only 30 rounds needed on the course, na. So if we agree on divisions, then courses of fire need to support those concepts. Maybe for Tactical you should have dirt test. Now for big matches, publish your courses of fire in advance, and describe you divisions. Let the shooters adjust, or not participate if they don't like what your doing. That way the market will dictate and things will change for better faster. Ok I feel better now
  24. Thats sound good, can you post a pic?
