  1. See if you can get factory mags, do a Google for Chief AJ. They do great job trigger job with overtravel screw, and will fire lap the barrel and thread it for you. Mine is just as accurate as my AR's. With Federal it will turn in 1moa. Choate makes stocks.
  2. Bob Kreiger is still around, 248 853 6171
  3. I shoot a para and like it, but today I would look for used STI.
  4. The only downside of buff is they limit slide travel. I don't think two provides anything over just one.
  5. Lets face it we all want to speed, ie break the law, and dislike people interfering in our pursuit. With interstate in florida requiring the trucks to stay in the right two lanes alot of old folks sit in left third lane and usually go about the speed limit speed. Which is annoying to US speeders. Now I hate two lane roads because someone will always go less than the limit, then someone who can't judge speed and distant will follow them because they are afraid to pass, then next person is afraid to pass two cars, then we end with whole line of following because ....

  7. Sometimes the props we use like doors, and carrying things increase the likelyhood of sweeping. Especially on doors when the opening weakhand has to cross the strong hand. Lefty's will throw Ro's off if they don't adjust before the beep. We try and remind everybody during the walkthrough and have Ro's in each squad again remind everybody before they start the squad of likely area's for a screw up. I consider it the Ro's job to help people from screwing up safety stuff. Especially if I Ro'ing a new shooter, I'll gentle remind of area's to be carefull of just before we start.
  8. JL never said it would come as far back with buffer as without. The pencil mark is just marking a reference point of how far it should come back. So that with the spring in you have easy to see reference point if is coming back all the way or binding on the spring. I didn't say buffers cause spring bind. Usually when people are putting in buffers they put in new springs also. I recently switch from Wolf to ISMI. Turns out their compressed length was longer than the wolf. Also happens if you change plugs you can change the spring channel length. It is hard to see if your slide is impacting the buff or recoil plug head. That's why the pencil mark without the spring in. I copied this right off the label in ISMI package. Its simple it works. If you gun uses the old flange style reverse plug, make sure it is in when you mark the reference point with the pencil. I don't know I re read my post it seems clear to me?
  9. The existing safety is used and all the parts, spring, ball and roll pin, just needs that extra hole to put it in. They may still do it, call the repair shop, that's what I did. Of Course after I saw it, I said geeh I could have done that!
  10. If you found a Bank bag full of money would you turn it in?
  11. But he wanted a field course? I'd have to reread the rules about how they worded the two hot guns at one time.
  12. Breaking the top edge of the ejector will move it forward and not towards the rear. Since I didn't see the pic you referred to, how much did you reduce the face of ejector width.
  13. The big problem is the abandoning of the shotgun and rule says can't have two guns at the same time. Since it is a field course you can dictate the order the arrays may be shot in, you can also dictate which weapon to be used. So something like this could be used. First array is slug only on paper from box A. second array from box B is pistol only. Then go back toward A, retrieve shotgun and move to box C and engage the steel. Problem is that when you leave A to B shotgun must be unloaded, Box B can't be forward of box A, when you leave box B the pistol must be unloaded. The speed unload end up often being a problem. Now if you don't follow strick IPSC rules and have a bunker for shotgun it can be easier as you allow abandoned hot guns. Careful about slugs and steel in same array, somebody goofs and sends a slug at some steel 30 feet away and you've got a DQ and chance for splatter returns. Tell us more about the stage and I'm sure lots will chime in with help.
  14. I'm not sure the odds were that good during dating. 54, and quiet house is still good.
  15. It needs a little drilling, factory use to it for $11.00. I've got mine done. If I remember correctly it is the dent ball, new hole has to be drilled. Long time ago they drilled both holes then stopped.
  16. Cisco did the India thing also. What I found out was that cultural differences make the communication diffcult. I was constantly asking do you understand, the answer was always yes. But i knew the answer was NO. Well turns out they are worried about insulting us. Because to them if we ask do you understand and they say no, then they are telling us were idiots who can't explain our problem. So they are never going to tell you they don't understand. I still don't know how to get around this.
  17. What got this started, I read that open guns, with comps, when slides were not lightened. That some GM claimed they had to wait for gun. I can't say this happened to me. Then some else responded that, that wasn't possible as the gun cycles in .05. Which lead me to come with a cyclic rate to see if that number seemed correct. The gun I was familiar with the internals on was the MAC 10. A buzz saw. Which thanks to Google was easy to find of around 1100 rpm. The MAC is a fixed firing pin, blow back design, no dampers. Since the 1911 uses the locked barrel and slide to delay ejection for pressure drop. My guess was that its rpm would be much slower. Now from my observation the 38super's with light slides cycle way faster than my old 45acp with 16lb spring. So question remains, could a highly skilled shooter, shoot faster than a old standard 45acp slab side with factory stock spring can cycle. What have your experiences been? From RO alot, I can see the slide cycle on 45, I can't see the slide cycle on a open gun.
  18. I guess the penalty for no obeying the get down command is to be shot! Some how your description and you and him, really struck a funny bone for me also. Kinda sounds like Barney Fife, wasn't that Mayberry also? I think Andy only gave him one bullet to carry around.
  19. Jake, all that you said was it wasn't a local match. To me I thought you had just travel to another area other than your own and were dismayed at the other clubs lack of concern about your values of proper attire. So now that you stated it was a SC sectional does that change anything for me? HUMM....... after re-reading your posts again, and the description of the shirt, there own pictures with rifles up. Then with the later info about them being DOE team. I would have asked what's up with gear and shirts guys, they would have probably explained, and I would have proabably said you'll probably tick off some people. Have good Day. By the way were they any good?
  20. I like cp buffers, one thing I've noticed lately with ISMI springs is spring bind. Put your buffer in with no spring, mark slide and frame with pencil with slide all the way back. Next put spring and see if still comes as far back.
  21. I'm very much in agreement about not happy about the case make its OK. I don't like open bolt either, the ar15 bolt can easily released for a variety of reasons. I've also seen a lot of stuck cases in AR's. So keeping with the belt and suspenders approach. Range Flags on closed bolts for me. I also don't like muzzles point at me, and I don't like to people on line playing with guns. So what we follow is muzzle up or down when come to or leaving the line or going to the range table. Can't say we have racks at every stage. So guns end up in laying carts, tables with muzzles in various directions. What we asked for in safe flags visible on closed bolts and no mags in guns. Open bolt Auto Shotguns are ones that worry me the most hard to tell if there is round in the tube from glance and the speed gates make it easy to bump action closed, now we could have loaded shotgun with safety off laying around. Can't happen with chamber flag on closed bolt even if there are rounds in the tube.
