  1. Question for Benny? Question is about limited guns in 40 What is the balance between weight of gun up front, bull barrel, long wide frames, heavy guide rods. To me a nose heavy gun is hard to move fast between targets. Lightening the slide, should make gun cycle faster, and change the feel of recoil impulse, and maybe reduce muzzle rise as there is less mass moving. However K=MV2 So if K is constant because we have a fixed bullet weight and fixed velocity. Only thing I can see that we have option to change is the time in which the K is delivered. Recoil impulse, or the rise time. Seems like removing small amounts of mass from slide will drastically increase slide velocity because it is a property of velocity squared. However I don't understand how the recoil spring changes figure into it. Also how fast is the slide traveling when it reachs the end of slide travel and all the remaining K is delivered to the shooter hand with a short rise time. When slide is traveling K is still delivered to shooter but over a long rise time. Anybody out there work is jets engines and thrust calculations? Follow my logic here and point out my mistakes please. Right after ignition, recoil is bullet acceleration, slide and barrel locked together in recoil, barrel stops, slide still moving, slide stops. So is there three distanct recoil impulse that you can balance but not change the total????? Ok I'll stop thinking out loud now. Wait one more. Since power factor is mass X velocity and K=mv2 seems like fast light bullets would make power factor needed but deliver less K to shooter.
  2. The action gear clip ons are very good. The other choice is 511 makes a thin pad that slips into a pocket on knee of their pants. Most BDU have double layer knees and little sewing the 511's will fit any BDU. Depends on how much protection you want.
  3. Anybody ever tried peanut shells?
  4. I use my AR10 for target, fun, hunting. My 16 will hold 2inch groups at 200 yards no problem, Got the stainless barrel but no free floating. topped with ACOG. Also going to shoot Heavy metal class with it.
  5. broadcasting music around the house. Yes if you tuned into multiple stations around the house, or have a server that everyone connects to and plays different tunes. Most compressed music uses less than 128Kbps which is .128Mbps. So many different ways to do this. Most DSL connections are 1Mbps down and 384Kps up. That's not guaranteed. All forms of broadband are shared connections at some point up the stream, and carriers don't buy more bandwidth until people complain.
  6. The CP buffer that was mention holds up the best in my 45. All the rest crumbled and caused problems. The cp seems to last as long as the spring does! In Excess of 2000 rounds
  7. Theory is the alum is softer, than steel of frame and slide, true, but I don't see it as being elastic, which means it will deform and stay that way. Probably better than nothing but not an improvement over the hard plastic buffs.
  8. The wear in the crotch, is usually due to bad fit, meaning the length of the rise in the pants. Very few places will give you that sort of details in sizing. You have probably got other pants that don't wear in that area. I found the quality has little to do with it. Have cheap pants that don't wear in that area at all. Good pants that do. Try a different brand, and hope they don't change spec by next time you buy. some times customer service has those number and can tell you. Good luck. I imagine 5/11 can tell you what they use. That's a starting point
  9. Some questions etc. Depending on how you are connected to world will matter. Broadband DSL or cable and if you have a modem or a router now in place. Easy way to tell is click on start, run, type in cmd enter. a black box will pop up run the command ipconfig enter. If your ip address is 192.xxx.xxx.xxx or 10.xxx.xxx.xxx something you have a router/NAT box between you and the internet. If you ip address is something like 65.xxx.xxx.xxx or 204.xxx.xxx.xxx then you have modem. The linksys box's work fine, don't mail order on this kind of item, because it much easier to get support local and return the box if you can't get it going. Because it ain't very easy to understand all this stuff. don't work about speed, they all are faster than what you can use. Just make sure the letters and numbers on you wireless cards and new box are same. If you are on modem then the box will have to logon to system for you, complicated to setup. PPP authentican etc. If you have a router, it is easier, tell box to setup as switch/hub, and you don't need NAT. If you already have multiple computers directly connect to the access device you have a router. Confusing isn't it. I design and install WAN networks using ATM, Frame Relay, DSL, MPLS, P-to-P links etc. Install access device, routers, firewalls, vpns, etc. Hell I get confused. There is a place called dsl reports that has an excellent forum where you can people to give you step by step help. Start there.
  10. Frank Garcia in Frostproof florida is having a 3 gun on 26.
  11. Now where do you think they heard that!!!!!! I smell dog house!!!
  12. I've had dish since the first year out. I'm on my third receiver. My choice, first one still works. just wanted added features, more channels, now TIVO. You can buy a TIVO receiver that has 80 hours of storage, and no monthly service charge. Most the newer models they want $5 a month to have TIVO features. If all you want is the basic receiver you can find them on ebay for $60.00. If you only need to watch one channel at once then any model will work. Read about the receivers on dishnetwork page. Then use google to find them for sale at different dealers. My next hack will be to put a larger hard drive in mine. Just like guns how much do you want to do yourself.

    '05 Mustang

My mistake the model I looked at was an 04 with supercharger and independent rear suspension. So I guess we have to wait till 06 for new model SVT.
  14. Raise holy hel@ and they will come around to putting it wherever you want. You can also get free gas for your house use. Plus if deed says you've got the mineral rights then you can get a portion of proceeds!!!!! Your letting them walk all over you!!!!

    '05 Mustang

The 05 mustang has independent rear suspension. Plus you can get a supercharged engine, almost the same engine that's in the GT-40. Fully decked with the supercharged engine was $42,000 list. They wouldn't let me take it for a test drive!!!!!!
  16. If the follower doesn't move past the dimples area, then you haven't gotten enough area remove. If it hangs elsewhere in the tube you've probably got a dented tube. I had to make to oblong holes to completely remove the dimples, not just drill them.
  17. The 870 is probably the most common, with most accessories. But for pure speed I put my 2 cents in on the old 8 shot Ithaca. I picked up a used LS Prision one. Lots of handling, no shooting wear. Put on a Choate pistol grip, especially handy for leftys. It is so much lighter and faster handling than an 870. With reduce recoil slugs its great. It will pound you with full power slugs.
  18. I have/had the same problem. Finally came up with a good solution. That won't break the bank. Get the ESS ICE shooting glasses with the RX holder. $55.00. Then get a set of lenses $44.00 Have the dominant eye set for front sight sharp. The other for distance. Total $100.00 and works well for IPSC and Three gun. I can see the fuzz on my front sight again!!!!
  19. Rock River is good stuff. Now that the ban is gone I would get a mid-length gas port carbine with a stainless threaded barrel and a flat top. I would not get there match trigger, instead a Accuracy speaks, JP or McCormick single stage triggers. Free float tube 2 inch diameter then the JP sight will mount on the tube with no problem. Even if you have to buy parts and assemble yourself, It is no problem with AR. IMHO Armalite and RockRiver are first rate with Bushmaster and DPMS not as good. Now you can build a better rifle by getting a custom barrel and trip through Brownells will leave you amazed.
  20. Interesting comments. As a Subscriber I not sure I will renew again. Articles are better, but the ads are same old thing every month.
  21. Maybe they didn't want the wife or grand kid to come again!
  22. My intro to IPSC was from a 40 hour Class back late 80's or early 90's from Ray Chapman and Ayoob. For $400 you got about 50 hours of instruction and shooting at great range in South Central florida. We camped out on grounds for free. There was 12 in class with total of 4 instructors. Chapman and Ayoob were their with us all day, and most nights went to dinner with all us and told war stories. Chapman showed us what could be done with a 45. One day he put ballons on heads of 7 IPSC targets drove back to 100 yards and popped them all with one shot each. The class final was a thriller. They had a big club house. You know the type. Lots of big couches, and fireplace, side rooms, showers, kitchen etc. They closed all the shutters so it was dark inside. strapped a pulse monitor onto our chest and gave us a cap pistol and said the scenario is you come home and find your house broken into and your going to try and clear it yourself. Could be one or more bad guys. Ayoob wore a read vest and acted as a coach as you entered the building. We recorded our pulse at rest, right before we entered and several times during. What we didn't know proved will kill you. I entered and found the first guy and was in the process of disarming him. You know kneel down hands behind head .... Next thing I know chapman had been hiding behind a moving screen the whole time. Steps out behind me and fires two blanks into my back! You could feel the heat and the blast and later you could see the powder burns on your shirt. Then they asked what your pulse rate was! They asked you not to reveal what happen to your classmates. They managed to kill us all! That sold me on IPSC I went home put my Colt Python away and started building my first IPSC 45. Then even poised for pictures with us.
  23. Several companies make T520 steel mini poppers some are self resetting about $190.00 for them. T520 in 3/8 is good for 308 30-06, 7mm RemMag is not oK will slice right through them. Just go to google type in rifle targets and you'll find a few, MGM comes to mind. Do shoot any steel inside of 65 yards.
  24. I have/had all three. The AR10 is great, I like carbine my shoots match federal into about 1.5" 5 shot groups at 200 yards. Put an Acog on top and JP trigger and norgon ambi safety. I'm a lefty, had to use heavier spring in norgon to keep it from dropping the mags occasionally. Noisy to those on left and right, soft shooting.
