  1. Check for small burs on the slide as well..could be slide stop, could be safties, or as others said magazines...there are several possible culprits...is the gun a plastic or metal grip?
  2. 1.5# should be no problem, when I have seen problems is when you start getting below that, around 1#...I run all my 1991/2011 around 2.25# and never had an issue
  3. After my support hand has reached the gun and as I am pushing the muzzle toward the target. I agree with above statements "follow rule 3 and it should not matter at what point it is disengaged."
  4. I have seen a couple, but I am not sure if they are custom or someone is building them. I haven't seen them on the websites from the normal guys that build them. It will be interesting to find out.
  5. Akai builds a sight block as well the "Pelican Barrel" I have had multiple Akai pistols and will be ordering another. I have shot and Atlas and they are nice, but When Akai always responds to every question quickly and the guns just flat out run its hard to change. But having Akai and Atlas both build sight block guns would be a cool review.
  6. I would look at Tripp research mags for 40 cal. I have the Wilson mags in both 40 and 45. Hard to beat the 45, but the 40 mags have very weak springs, or did when I bought them. Tripp has some 10mm 10 round mags that work great for 40
  7. 38SC to me in the few guns I have shot is lower pressure and the most stable, with less dot movement or as some say flatter shooting. However, for me who shoots a few sectionals and maybe a area match, but mainly local stuff. The expense of 38sc is not worth it to me. I can load 9mm cheaper as I can get brass for free. That is my reason for shooting 9mm. If I was higher class or wanted to compete more I would buy 38sc, but 9mm works well for most, I think.
  8. DC Precision is doing some really cool stuff on Glocks..I know you want to build your own, but might give you some ideas. To help with weights and lighter slides, mounts etc
  9. I believe Solvability is right. The stroke is the same. but running a G19 will be lighter as its shorter than a G17. So then with a lightened slide in a G19 that should give you a faster cycle time in theory.
  10. I will say I have seen many more problems out of their open guns then the limited guns in my experience and opinion....but there have definitely been problems. I know Dawson is back. I also know some others they have hired to reverse the QC issues and I bet it will come back..soon I hope.
  11. I run the Double A mount. It has an adjustable pedal. I dont have large hands, but it is still reachable
  12. I know of a buddy who had a problem with a tight fitting barrel and lock up and his did some wierd stuff on that first round when not "slammed" by the cycling of a round fired.
  13. I run Double Alpha Gear and Belt. I use the STI Gen2 mags..I tuned up the feed lips and they have ran with zero problems since. They did run factory ammo with zero problems. Mine were just a bit tight and did not like to drop free. Atlas has some videos on that, they have been 100% since. I just repleaced all the guts and base pads with TTI and still 100%
  14. I use all the drills above for different things. I look at in the last two matches I shot what were my weakest parts, based on my perception and videos taken. I will then use drills that work on those components of shooting. I will still throw in some accuracy work as fundamentals can never be worked enough. I always have a plan of what I am trying to work on before going to the range.
  15. I use the game changer bag as well. I used to have a couple bags for different options. Got the game changer and only use the one bag for everything now.
  16. I use one in all my guns, I just change them out after about 5000 rounds or right before a big match. It seems to help with some of the crash of the slide and less sight movement...that of course could be at me.
  17. I have the speed cross and the hellcat. Like both, the speed cross seem to wear faster.
  18. I use Wilson 47D and ETM for 45..For 40 and 9mm Tripp. I have some 40 Wilson mags, but the spring seem weak, haven't replaced them yet though.
  19. I have been running the Gen2 9mm mags 140s and 170s. I have tuned them and run all TTI parts in them with no malfunctions. I am running STI Plastic though so cant say how they are working for say a PT EVO or other metal grip.
  20. I currently have 2 Open guns from Akai and sold a Limited Akai to get those. So of course I am going to say go Akai, not that ATLAS are bad guns, they are nice as well. As for the stroked question, that is 50/50 with most people, but to me most are just personal opinions, there is some physics behind it. I can feel a difference, I have one open that is stroked and the other is not. The stroked one is def softer shooting with less dot movement. In my old limited gun, I had one that was stroked and one that was not. I could def see let sight movement and it felt softer as well. Shay has always answered my question, phone calls, text, Facebook, on Sunday during a match, whenever I have contacted him he has been quick to respond.
  21. the RTS2 looks big sometimes but in the bright sun and daylight all seem to wash out a little and the 6-8 seem to be about right and not to small, but dont cover targets either.
  22. I run 124grn PD at 1.165 using 7.2 grns of WAC makes Major at 169-171ish in both open gun One is a SV Barrel the other a KKM. KKM is Akai V6 hole SV is Akai V4 hole
  23. I just use a gun cleaner like Hoppes and some pics and seems to get the job done. I am sure there are fast ways, but I just let it sit some times and reapply it if needed.
  24. I think Cheely in now building a aluminum grip that is okay for open and major, but before steel was the way to go as aluminum almost always cracked on major guns, mainly open but eventually lots also cracked with limited guns.
  25. I run same builder, not exact same gun as I got one used and one new...but they are very similar..I am considering selling the back up to order and identical backup
