  1. I agree with GrumpyOne on this, the first thing I would check is the extractor and make sure it is good. My gun did something very close to this and was very random and it was the extractor causing the issue.
  2. I have a rotation of match mags so I change Springs usually once a season. I have 4-170s and 8-140s that I run for matches in a 3 mag configuration. 1 big 2 small. So they dont see as much work as the guys that runs mainly the same mags every stage. I have not had any issues changing them out once a season. I run STI Gen2 Mags, with TTI Guts.
  3. I would not stand there as an RO because it doesn't look safe. I may have missed it if someone else mentioned it, but what got my eye was his clothing. He is wearing a white jersey with tan pants, stand with his legs together and some could see that as a target array just like the one they are shooting at, and we all know people do some strange things when the buzzer goes off. If someone broke the 180 and they yell STOP it would prob be after the first round fired, and if they thought it was a target array it would be bad for him. So like others said he seems to have a false sense of security that the 180 is protecting him. I would just find another place to observe from.
  4. I recently shot a 100% on this for Open with a HF of about 1 point higher then the current HHF. I left and entered on the partiald. It seemed to me the way I shot it to waste more time shooting the partial first, or waiting to shoot the partial last. Wish i had a video of it now.
  5. You can, but I would not recommend it. I sm sure you have seen the photos o people trying reset high priners. If you have a loaded round and try putting back into the seat or crimp slot and some t hing does happen that would not be good. I would just shoot this in the gun they were loaded for, and make some new rounds for the new gun.
  6. In 1911 9mm I have only every had good luck with the Tripp mags, in 40 and 45 several mags work but for 9mm I just stick with the Tripps.
  7. Personal experience, Major PF wins. I shot a match where the Chrono was running slow shot minor PF buy .1(164.9) but minor none the less. I had just checked the PF the week before at 171 (several friends went way low but had inital PFs higher at around 175 so they made major). Anyway, I was about 20 second slower than 1st and 2nd but had way less penalties and 50-60 more alphas. Because of the point loss of minor charlies, I finished 3rd. If I had chronoed major, I would have won 1st with no other changes.
  8. Go 38$C for practice you can also use 38TJ and 38RL (I think that is armscor 38$C or RL=rimless) they all run flawless in my gun. My only issue is we have one guy at the local club that runs 38$ and every now and then I miss one while reloading and jams up my press.
  9. Nothing wrong with nickel brass. I used it all the time when I was shooting 9Maj. HS6, WAC, CFE pistol, 3n37, n350. Not sure you get enough 3n38 in that case, it will depend on the gun AA7, Shooters world Major pistol. All of those powders will work for 9maj with 124s. some might be limited if you use 115s. Most load the OAL to somewhere close to 1.165-1.170 to lower the pressure. But other comments are correct in start low and only load 10-15 or so to chrono etc at different powder weights and wait for the gun to arrive. As for this. I would say there was something off more than just the use of nickel brass. I used to run range brass for practice in 9maj and never had an issue with nickel causing anything close to that. Just my opinion but that issue has nothing to do with brass. I would def be checking for breach face erosion though.
  10. If because of the current situation, you cant find alcohol, got to auto parts store and grab the red bottle heat, works great as well to mix.
  11. I have shot Atlas and Limcat. For me the Limcat was just smoother and felt better. The fit of the limcat seemed to be better as well. I can't say about the finish as I didn't own either of them. I personally shoot Akai guns.
  12. Maybe I missed this as well, but I reviewed the several pages and never saw if the OP ever answered the question of if the shooter was at the are you ready or the standby. To me that would make the difference of if it was a false start or unsafe
  13. You will hear pros and cons on about all brands. I have been lucky and I started out with a slide-ride, then went to a delta-point, then to a RTS2 and now run the 510c. I and have not had any issues with any of them. Some people think they the Holosun is to big, and they are bigger than most sights used for an open gun, but they work well for me.
  14. That would apply if the RO had given the command of "standby". Based on the OP the RO had on given the "are you ready command" So creeping or a false start would be after the "standby" command. So according to the rule book 10.5 Match Disqualification – Unsafe Gun Handling Examples of unsafe gun handling include, but are not limited to: I would argue 10.5 does apply and based on the rule is says examples include. but not limited to: So I think an RO could DQ someone based on during the commands the shooter disengages the safety and discharged the weapon. That could and should be considered unsafe gun handling. Had the RO given the standby command it could possibly fall under 8.3.4.1, bust based on the OP he was at the "are you ready" command.
  15. I tried both when I was shooting 9 Maj. For the lots I had (both shot up) The SWMP required about 3 or 4 10ths more powder to make same PF. The SWMP was a bit flatter than AA7, so I just assumed a bit slower powder meant more gas. The reason I stayed with AA7 was the dot was straight up and down with AA7. SWMP made the dot move to one side at the top and I didn't like that. I was shooting 9.7 grns of AA7 with a 124 PD at 1.165 with a .375 crimp neither had any kernels or flaking in my gun, just dirty residue. THE SWMP was 10.1 grns with all other specs the same. I also tried, WAC, HS6, 3n37, true blue WAC was clean, but didn't some reading and it seems its on the fast end and could be pressure spiky, I used it before AA7 HS6 just didn't have the right feel or dot movement for me 3n37 wasn't regularly available enough for me I don't remember on true blue. I shoot 38$C now, and still use AA7 or 3n38
  16. The Lee or EGW will work!! Both are made by Lee. I have a MarkVII Press so instead of a decapping die, I use the Redding 1st and then the Lee without the decap pin. I lube the cases and it runs really smooth since I am not under sizing right off. If you dont have that option the Lee or EGW might solve your problems.
  17. This is hard to answer because like builders and magazine everyone has had different experiences. I have been running double alpha and never had an issue with the STI or PT block for any of my guns, smooth and reliable for me.
  18. Based on this statement it could be the tuning of the ejector and not so much the extractor. If the angle of the ejector is off it can throw brass upward first then out causing it to hit the mount. What exactly are the issues? Brass falling back in the chamber? Stove pipes? But I haven't seen in the post exactly what it was doing. Gas and pressure could attribute, but so can several other things.
  19. They make a Lee U Die that seems to work a little better. I have both
  20. In my experience I would stay away from N310 for 40. 310 is a fast powder and wtih 40 being a higher pressure round I have seen case ruptures from the recipes of 40 and n310. N320 is a great load. For some of the 2011s longer OALs were sometimes related to feeding issues or magazine issues. I have had both in the past, one that liked longer OAL and one that would feed anything. I run 320 with 180 grn blue bullets and a 1.16 oal which feeds great in my gun. 171 PF
  21. I use TTI guts and base pads. Then you eliminate any questions of which magwell is in use. For the 170 mags use a 3mm base pad, for a 140 use a 4mm. Unless shooting open then use the 7mm on the 140s.
  22. You can, there have been some very nice used one here on the forums recently..I have Akai guns, 1 new and 1 was used..both run great!!
  23. This^^^. I have 6 140s and 3 170s that I run for my open gun, for both 9mm and 38SC. Shoot about 15k-20k rounds a year. I run all TTI guts and have had zero issues with the mags once they were tuned.
  24. Is the first issue not the 7 rounds load vs division capacity. I cant look at the rule book right now, but thought there was something on trying to game it, meaning only loading 8 etc.
