  1. I do something similar. I have spreadsheets where I track reloading data and rounds used for practice/competition for the various pistols I have. Like others have said it helps with maintenance schedules as well. I think the reason folks see round numbers on estimates is that even if an exact count is known it's just easier to ballpark.
  2. For one thing a spelling error..... Should have been kludge. Basically an inelegant solution. In this case hitting it with a Dremel would make it work, but it would probably look like it had been hit with a Dremel instead of being fixed correctly. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kludge
  3. This thread is relevant to my interests. In a similar position to the op, so tagging for updates.
  4. Yes, primer slide installed.Age unknown, I bought it used. Dillon customer service for the win again. I called them and they have the modified part on the way. Hopefully that's the fix, if not a little grinding will fix it for sure but I'll save that as a last resort.
  5. Installed a new case feeder on my 550 yesterday. Everything fit fine and lined up until I put on the shell plate and index sprocket. As shown in the pictures the index sprocket doesn't clear the case feed cam. No matter how you adjust the case feed cam the cutout for the index sprocket is too low? The case feed works fine, loads case into shell plate and primer bar lines up. I'm going to call Dillon today but I'm wondering if anyone has seen this? I could just grind on the case feed cam, but that seems cludgey.
  6. Tag for later viewing. ETA - As always, excellent video. Thanks for taking the time to put it together and share!
  7. Agreed. I went a slightly different route with the same result. I have TTI Basepads on all of my pmags. Allows you to load 30 or 40 and still have them seat relatively easily on a closed bolt. As to technique, Bryan described it better than I could.
  8. Agreed. I still put 100 in each bag just so they are easy to count. Store in an ammo can and pull out what's needed for a practice or match. They double as used brass collection bags too.
  9. I need to research what PVD is. Physical vapor deposition
  10. I've never had any trouble with photo size using an iPhone and tapatalk. Eliminates the need for a separate photo host like imgur or photobucket as well.
  11. Very informative thread on this topic here: Reloading to Meet Power Factor with Confidence! https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?url=http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?/topic/229005-Reloading-to-Meet-Power-Factor-with-Confidence%21&share_tid=229005&share_fid=16618&share_type=t
  12. I can't answer your question entirely. But, I shoot with someone using a DVC and factory ammo. That combo is usually high 170s, low 180s. I believe it has been 165 gr, but I could be wrong. For a few hundred rounds it shouldn't be horrible. Neither you or the pistol would like it long term. Might just look to home defense ammo rather than screw with reloading? If I was going to reload I would think lighter bullets faster. But that's just a working theory.
  13. I've thought that something like this would work. Would make it similar to the chameleon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000095SGS/ref=s9_top_hm_awbw_b2K0K_g469_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=mobile-hybrid-11&pf_rd_r=5SKR2268PK5ERD4MFVSY&pf_rd_t=30901&pf_rd_p=bbf43ffc-a7cf-5fe9-91e9-4c4513b4d7cd&pf_rd_i=553556
  14. Tons of folks use them. I got some because of the modular possibilities. Honestly changing them around is a PITA, but doable. I think that benefit is somewhat dubious. They work fine, and are durable. You made a fine choice. Like everything in this sport there is rarely a single correct answer.
  15. I think you're "overthinking". The DAA, CR Speed, and Safariland 014 holsters are very secure. I use a 014 and when the holster is properly adjusted and locked, I could hang off the pistol and it wouldn't come out. (and I'm no lightweight). I've tried yanking and twisting the pistol trying to get it to come loose, haven't been successful yet. Before you buy, ask some open or limited shooters to let you look at how secure their guns are in the holsters. I think if I have to buy a new holster at some point it will be a DAA because I use multiple open guns and they are different length so the Safariland has to have the muzzle support re-adjusted for each pistol, not a big deal, but if I have to go to a backup gun at a match, it's just one more thing to think about. ^^^this When i switched from production to limited I initially had reservations about the security of race holsters. You get over that pretty quick. As long as it's latched securely it won't come out.
  16. Sounds like you're in luck then since the two posts with data are +/- right at that.
  17. Indeed. Aeti did a fine job on a Glock slide for me. I believe they do other brands as well. For CZ the likely suspect is CZ Custom. For Sig I'd bet gray guns could either do it or point you to someone.
  18. It varies by state what the laws are for person to person sales. As far as I know, when the sale crosses state lines the transfer needs to happen through a FFL (Federal Firearm Licensee).
  19. yes yes yes. Haha. Same bullet. Nosedive jam could be OAL or mag issues as well. Does it do it with all mags? When was the last time mag springs were replaced? Atlas gunworks has an excellent YouTube video on resolving feeding issues.
  20. Have you called/emailed them? In my experience their customer is top notch.
  21. They did at some point. My understanding is that it was either a limited run or they discontinued them. I purchased an as new one off Gunbroker after reading good reviews. After some initial trouble dialing in a load and magazine that it likes it has run 100%. Fit and finish is very good, and I really like mine. Of course if I knew then what I know now, I'd have just gone with the 9mm version. I shot production long enough that I can make a decent 10 round stage plan. Thinking in 8s is more difficult. As a mid-pack shooter I think that I'd end up with similar scores, but that 10 round minor would be more familiar.
  22. Flat nose? So is the round hitting the ramp and sticking there? When it was running, was that the bullet being used?
  23. Look in the classifieds here. Brass shouldn't be more than a few cents each.
  24. Lol, good video. Thanks for sharing a laugh with us.
