  1. Lots of info in the 9/38 section of this forum. Depending on oal, it will be somewhere in the 3.xx range. Start with the plunk test, and then zero in on a charge weight based on that.
  2. There are also some pretty clever designs for ones to use in dry fire. A quick google search should turn them up.
  3. Might be this https://deserttech.com/html/product_overview.php?product_id=4&load=product_overview ?
  4. Folks here will more than likely be willing to help, but you'll need to help them help you but giving lots more details and photos. Year, make, model, caliber, condition, rounds if known, options, accessories, etc. The more detail and information you can share the better the estimate that can be given.
  5. Most vendors sell direct. Personally I've used bayou, S&S, Leatherhead and blue bullets, and purchased from all of them directly. My recommendation is to buy trial quantities from one or two and try them. All of the above sell samples of 50-100 bullets. When you order, order as many as feasible. Most companies ship USPS flat rate so there is usually a pretty good price break when going to case lots.
  6. I'm not aware of an armorer's video. But-like most things, YouTube has lots of how to videos for the CZ platform. Combine those with the info here and on the CZ forum and all or nearly all topics are covered.
  7. Especially if you shoot minor. If I had it to do over my SS gun would be 9mm. I shot production long enough that planning around 10 rounds comes easily. 8 rounds not so much. The major/minor debate is interesting in a theoretical sense, but IMHO for the average shooter it's more about what works. To the op question -- glocks and CZ are just as different. CZ grip angle and manual of arms is much closer to the 1911 than to a Glock. So either of your choices presents some challenges when going back and forth.
  8. yep i always try to stuff a used mag in one of my pockets and not in a mag pouch just for that reason. one worse than that was the guy in front of me at a 3 gun match last year. got thru pistol and then shottie, ran to rifle position and figured out he had NO mags. 3gun can eat your lunch with that stuff. Start adding and pulling ammo and carriers from your belt and eventually hilarity for your squad mates will follow. At a local match I pulled my shotgun ammo off the belt between stages. Later, on a stage including shotgun after reaching my reload spot I discovered that the caddies were at the other end of the bay in my range bag. Thankfully it was just a local match and there were only a couple of shotgun targets not engaged. Needless to say, my pre stage prep is slightly more thorough now than before!
  9. 3.7 gr at 1.1" in an AccuShadow is 130ish PF for most 124/125 gr coated bullets that I tried.
  10. I would think so. Most magwells will be easier to use with basepads. Tripp mags come with a basepad and are generally well thought of.
  11. I would anticipate you'll like the velocity trigger in the AR. I have one and it's worked fine. 9mm ARs can be a bit finicky about trigger group and bolt set-ups.
  12. Lots of options, with the Miculek, JP, Carbon Arms & Seekins being the popular answers. I'll go ahead and link these with the full expectation that Mr. Kelley will be along shortly. http://www.multigunmedia.com/pk-compensation.pdf http://www.multigunmedia.com/ar15-comps-pt-2.pdf
  13. Sgammo, target sport usa, Natchez shooters just to name a few. Get on their email lists and wait for sales. Ammo is finally coming back around. I reload for everything but 223, for the amount I shoot in 3gun it's just easier to buy a case every now and then as opposed to dealing with brass prep. Check prices on ammoseek or gunbot.
  14. I have a pair of Wiley-x and like them fine. The other brand that are ballistic rated and seem to to get generally good reviews is ESS. http://www.esseyepro.com/Ballistic-Sunglasses_19_category.html
  15. Some good info here http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/eye-protection-shooting-glasses-review/ And in other threads. Personally--mil spec ballistic rating. May cost a little more and come in a limited number of offerings, but I only have 2 eyes.
  16. Prices and availability on these (particularly the camp) are what they are because they have a bit of a cult following. I really wanted a camp 9 several years ago and finally gave up and went with a 9mm AR.
  17. Seriously-how is this even a topic for discussion? There is already a rule that addresses the issue.
  18. I suspect that that might not end well. I do not think vent ribs are designed for that type of stress. They are just brazed on. Unless you were saying to go around the barrel through a vent slot. In that case carry on and ignore the previous comment.
  19. The proposed rules do not have a barrel length requirement. I would think there should be. Isn't it pretty challenging to travel across state borders with an SBR? Also, most people don't have access to SBRs. Why exclude those who do have access and understand what's required if/when they travel? Even though I'm opposed to the inclusion in handgun matches, I can support limiting the equipment rules. If we want involvement, keep equipment rules to the minimum.
  20. Is it new, or just a new color of hi-tek for them? I've used a ton of S&S and found that in general their coating job is a little thicker and more consistent then some of the other vendors selling hi-tek coated bullets. Same for Leatherhead, but I sort of thought Leatherhead was marginally better. Then again Leatherhead uses the red too.
  21. They go on sale regularly, so it's not like you'll miss the sale. Unless you have to have plated, I'd suggest looking looking at any of the hi-tek coated bullets.
  22. In my experience it depends on the pistol and reloader. I had one pistol that liked them fine, and turned another into a shotgun. My suggestion--buy a sample pack and try them. Use the minimum crimp needed.
  23. Me too. Go very slowly. You can remove material quite easily. Adding more is difficult at best, and expensive at the worst. Took a couple hours as i recall. And, they aren't perfectly aligned. One side sits at an very slight angle. However they work and pass a function check. Pretty sure no one would ever notice but me.
