  1. I ran Rainier 135 plated bullets in my .40 open gun for years. The best 25 yard group I shot was 3/4" off the bags. Somewhere he you will find a post where a guy says he just couldn't understand why the Rainiers were more accurate than the MG 155's. Funny stuff. I used them because the closest competitors was the Nosler 135 JHP which did not shoot noticeably better but did cost twice as much. I ran those bullets in the 1250 to 1300 FPS range with no problems. Like the others have said, if cost is the main driver, take a look at PD and you may also want to look at RMR. Later, Chuck PS: The Berry's Thick Plate bullets are rated to 1500 FPS. I am running them in my PCC at ~ 1200 FPS. Gonna try them in my open gun if I ever decide to shoot pistol at a pistol match again.
  2. If I understand the master plan, in 12 days, the rulings will no longer matter as they will have been implemented in the 2019 rule book. They are calling that "evergreen" which I think means any rulings will get folded in upon approval by the BOD. The stand alone rulings should only exist during the proposal phase. So, if they do accomplish that, hopefully the rule book will be available for offline use if needed. But the most current set if rules should be only in the rulebook! Yay, Later, Chuck PS: If they make offline difficult, we will come up with something
  3. AFAIK, "Break the Perf" has been around since I started shooting USPSA. Same for the range non-command "Shooter Ready". And it isn't just new D shooters
  4. Closed this thread in favor of the thread linked above. Thanks, Ray!
  5. Now over 17,275 PCC rounds and still working fine!
  6. By not being in line with the bore, the optical axis crosses the bore line at only the zero point. This would kinda suck with a long distance rifle but with a pistol, it is negligible. See the estimate below for a 20 yard zero. This error would be covered by even a 1 MOA dot
  7. I have 170mm SPS tubes tuned by Beven Grams. They hold 30 9mm and are "loadable" (if you are paying attention ) Using Grams springs and followers, naturally...
  8. Get the big one. As far as being a newbie, you can ignore the MBF and place bullets manualy. You will pick it up quickly.
  9. Here are the applicable rules: 5.1.3 Sights – Types of sights identified by USPSA are: 5.1.3.1 “Open sights” - aiming devices fitted to a handgun which do not use electronic circuitry and/or lenses. 5.1.3.2 “Optical/electronic sights” - aiming devices fitted to a handgun which use electronic circuitry and/or lenses. 5.1.3.3 The Range Master is the final authority in respect of the classification of any sights used in an USPSA match and/or their compliance with these rules, including the Divisions in Appendix D. The laser clearly falls under 5.1.3.2. But, 5.1.3.3 gives final say to the RM. If you just want to try single stack, talk to the RM and ask if it is OK if you use the grips with the laser off (remove the battery?). Mention rule 5.1.3.3. The gun still has to fit in the box and make weight though.
  10. And with this nice segue, this thread is closed due to (ICORE) political content...
  11. Bummer, bad timing. I took your end of the year announcement as final. I had used nook manager to root it and kept the B&N apps so I could use the tablet as a Nook since the screen is so good. B&N rolled out an OS update for TLS 1.2 compliance that you had to do if you wanted to communicate with the mother ship. Now nook manager crashes with that build. If anybody has any ideas, I am open but I don't think NST is on anybody's rooting radar anymore...
  12. Actually, there is a forum for free stuff. https://forums.brianenos.com/forum/218-free-stuff/

  14. I commented about it also. Let's hope it gets in.
  15. I wonder why it never made it into the rules? Even the 2019 draft rules!
  16. From the Practiscore DevBlog: After Dec 31, 2018, new versions of PractiScore will no longer run on Nooks with Android 2.1. You can continue to use older app versions and we’ll try to maintain backward compatibility for wifi sync as long as we could.
  17. This is what it runs on: SketchUp Pro 2018 supports the following operating systems: Windows 10, Windows 8+, and Windows 7+ [64-bit] Mac OS X 10.12+, 10.11+, and 10.10+ SketchUp Free runs in a browser so that may work...
  18. I ran 18-01 yesterday. All I can say everyone used most of the target surface! No obvious a-zone clustering...
