    BUG guns

9mm XDs. Great little gun but I could do without the grip safety. I had a bobble when I failed to properly engage the grip safety while attempting a weakhand string of fire. I'm sure shooting it more than twice before a sanctioned match would have resolved that issue.
  2. The USPSA matches in my area require a full day to enjoy and are only offered once a month locally (within an hour drive) to me. I can shoot 12 IDPA matches a month. 9 of those are offered in the evening, so it works with my work schedule. Been shooting IDPA for about 2 years now and really enjoy it. Your fun factor will be determined more based on your club and their level of creativity and sportsmanship than it will the rulebook.
  3. You may have just ruined yourself for all other platforms. Enjoy!
  4. Uncoated bases don't lead to leading. One of the benefits of coated bullets are that you can shoot them in large volumes indoors without all the lead vapor spiking your blood lead levels. The indoor matches I hoot don't permit lead cast. Coated ok.
  5. Yup.Sent from my LG-D851 using Tapatalk How do you figure?Precisondelta .40 180g go for about .12/ bullet (after bulk discount) Bullet dudes .40 are about .09/ bullet (after 10% off for uspsa members) Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk So this is what I was looking at. 2000 124gr coated from Bullet Dudes, $174.28 shipped. 2000 124gr fmj from Precision Delta, $176 shipped. 2000 124gr jhp from Prcision Delta, $178 shipped. <---- (most accurate bullet I've tested for my gun) I normally order 2k bullets at a time because I don't shoot as much as others. But if we were to look at ordering in a bit more of a bulk order (minus the discount for USPSA shooter, because I'm not one)... 5k 124gr from BD, $425.61 shipped. 5k 124gr fmj from PD, $440 shipped. At such an insignificant difference in price, I'd rather have a less smokey bullet that I know is tried and true.
  6. Unless it can sort out .380 from 9mm, I haven't much use for it.
  7. If you can find one, the VIP and Tac 3.0 is ESP and CCP legal. Either of those and the Eagle included would qualify for CDP in .45.
  8. OP, If you have questions about getting work done on your grip, call Jim Shanahan at APS. You get a grip done that suits your needs. His work is top knotch.
  9. Maybe what I have then is a Gen 1 and a Gen 1.5.
  10. If I'm not mistaken, the Gen 1 has a glossy finish to it where as the Gen 2 is matte. This is only a hunch as I've built a trainer .22 upper but the newer AP handguard has a different finish.
  11. It's not so much of a reduction as it is a recontouring. It takes that squarish feel of the stock grip and rounds the corners. Also important to note is the undercutting of the trigger guard to help with a more secure grip.
  12. At those priced I could be loading Precision Delta. Pass
  13. As much as I love Clays, I wouldn't try to make PF using 115gr.
  14. A number of our club members, myself included, have shot NFC from time to time. Normally it isn't anything absurd, usually an MRD or a light equipped pistol. But it is left up to the MD whether or not to allow the division. I suppose if your club was experience an abundance of USPSA shooters that are diluting your matches, it would be within your powers to exclude the NCF division. But again, I see anything that brings more shooters out for some trigger time as a plus.
  15. Correct. You have to abide by the number of mag holders and their placement as well as the placement of your holster. If I milled my Eagle to use an RMR, that would be considered an open gun in USPSA but it would still fit an IDPA legal holster.
  16. You don't get to choose what rules to enforce and which you don't. You also don't get the luxury of creating new ones to fit your needs. You don't allow NFC then place a capacity to it. There isn't a round limit and they don't have to fit a box. Now if someone wants to run an open gun at your local indoor match, I can see the MD and possibly the range owner having an issue with that. As far as taking a gun from USPSA and dominating IDPA, I don't see that being apples to apples. Using your limited gun to win overall at a T1 match is a hollow victory. If people in your club have an issue with someone outside their division and classification beating them, that's a pride issue they can deal with.
  17. It's the "Not For Competition" division, not "Not For Score" division. It allows juniors to use a .22 as well as a full grown adult use an Open pistol and everything in between. As embassadors of this sport, we need to get off of our high horse about what we feel is appropriate for the NFC division and encourage people to attend our sport. Is their money not as good as the person shooting ESP? My club has no qualms about scoring your stages and posting them along side everyone else that paid for the day. I ran a .22 with an MRD for almost 2 months while having some work done on my primary gun. I've also taken my primary ESP gun and topped off the mags and ran NFC. As an MD we should be encouraging people to shoot our sport. Not shun them because they shot something we don't personally don't agree with. If they want to ever shoot anything higher than a T1 match, they'll eventually settle into another division that is allowed.
  18. Didn't quite get your question. Are you asking if it's legal to fire the 1st shot single action? 8.2.1.2.1 Selective SA/DA firearms will start hammer down Doesn't say 1st shot has to be DA, just that you must start hammer down.
  19. I noticed crushed primers with S&B when I used Tula, Winchester or federal primers. I stick to CCI now and haven't had an issue with tight pockets. I do avoid the stepped brass but toss them in my "to be recycled" brass bucket along with spent primers.
  20. Ok, I misinterpreted practice load. It's more of a test load. Yes, Clays is glorious for soft recoiling 9mm loads. I would be surprised if you saw any noticeable difference in PF by shortening your OAL. I tested 1.135 and 1.115 and saw maybe 20fps difference. If the 1.14 works for you, stay with it. But Clays is temp sensitive. Meaning on colder days you may experience a drop in FPS. It may be enough to miss making 125pf. At 3.0gr of Clays you should get up above 130pf and not really feel any difference. YMMV.
  21. Why would these only be practice loads?
  22. 3.0gr of Clays under 147gr bayou bullet at 1.145 OAL. Gets me 132pf out of my 5" 2011. I used to run 2.8gr, but the 128pf was a bit too close for comfort.
  23. Did someone unlock the reply option? OP stated that there wouldn't be any responses in this thread.
  24. Maybe this would be a viable alternative: http://www.rainierarms.com/nea-compact-carbine-stock-ccs I wonder if it's possible to use one of these with a .22 upper. That would make for a sweet suppressed sbr.
  25. I've tested Ramshot Competition and found it to be identical to N320 at a much better price.
