  1. Precision Delta, Magnus,...?
  2. I bought a mini MBF with 3 magazines on some kind of black friday deal a few months back. I can load all three magazines whenever I have a few minutes to kill. Each holds more than 100. Once I drop it onto the press, I can roll thru rounds pretty swiftly while keeping a close watch on powder. Just glance up every now and then to determine if its time to twist the magazine to the next tube. 320 or so rounds without having to touch a bullet. Nowhere near as awesome as the real deal, but beats the pants off dropping a bullet on each case...
  3. I've been using one of the Spike's LW 14.5", mid-gas barrels for a couple years now. If I do my part the rifle will hit just fine at the beginning and end of a stage. Lots of folk are caught up in having a longer barrel and heavier barrel, etc. I dont think its needed at all for occasional 3-4MOA targets out to 500-600yds with most inside of 400.
  4. I shot the Alabama match using the Bulldog bag that my JP GMR shipped with. It has a single large interior space and 2 large (12x12 or so) exterior pockets with 3 internal mag pouches in each external pocket. I doubled my mags in the pouches of the pocket at the butt of my gun. I put my ammo boxes and squib rod and gloves in the pocket at the muzzle end of my carbine. I always put the gun back in the same orientation each time so that I always know which way the muzzle is pointing. It has backpack straps which make for easy transport. It only has a single zipped which I dont care for, but the zipper closes at the "top" if using the backpack straps, so it will stay in even if not zipped all the way closed. It's not 100% perfect, but seems pretty solid so far.
  5. Think problem is actually that you had so much back-pressure from the can that it wasnt closing correctly/completely. Likely you may need an adjustable gas block to turn it down a touch when running the can. Could likely set it to just lock back with can removed and then still be ok with can fixed.
  6. Thanks, Eric! Makes sense now.
  7. I'm having trouble picturing what you describe... Have a pic?
  8. I think just reload the PCC like you do your pistol. Grab mag by base and turn over to insert using index finger to point into magwell. Dont make it any more complicated than it has to be.
  9. I thought the match went very well also. Usually, I feel like Friday shooters struggle to get through the match, but this experience was as smooth as I can imagine. Started a little late at around 830 and our squad was done shooting all 10 stages before 230. No holdups at all. I also appreciated the lack of gimmicks, it was a straightforward shooting contest. Find a best way to solve each stage. Move through each one efficiently and shoot accurately. My only gripe was the total width of the bridge; I get the concept of shooting from moving platform, but wish it didnt require so many steps to get on/off.
  10. Is it even feasible to shoot the pistol prior to trading? I dont think you can have much of a conversation about it before shooting the pistol to know that it actually runs or doesn't. If you're able to trade something that doesnt have a great deal of value to you, then you might "break even", maybe get something worth less than your trade, maybe come out ahead. I traded a nice 1911 for an oddly composed 2011. Traded a known quantity for something fairly unknown. The seller answered my questions im a fashion that seemed fairly genuine. I ended up with something that I liked better than a 4th 1911. Got it melonited and its great for me. Used stuff for a "deal" is always a gamble; sometimes the odds are better than other times.
  11. Just get a Dawson +5/6. Or let me sell you a TF +5/6. Then no more insert worry.
  12. One thing that has stuck out to me regarding Blue Bullets is that I see more blue bullets on the ground when I'm downrange than any other color. There are plenty of black bullets on the market, lots of green ones, red ones, gold ones, etc. But, when I look at the bottom of berms, the only colors that I notice consistently are copper (from jackets), silver from lead, and blue (still attached to the lead)... I've never loaded any myself, but I am considering getting some to try.
  13. The direct-thread cans do have some advantages over all the "QD" stuff... Lighter weight and shorter OAL of firearm with can installed are the 2 that come to mind first.
  14. Anybody have a cheap place to crash tomorrow night? I'm shooting Friday and plan to drive down tomorrow from Bham. I'm pretty clean and easy-going, but very cheap...
  15. Not saying this will fix issue, but... Possibly trim a coil off the mag catch spring? Having trouble reaching the pad or getting enough pressure on it? If it's a reach issue, the spring adjustments won't help, but if the issue is just being able to actuate it, then it might be worth trying...
  16. Broken case extractor? Other option would be to plug the breech and pour chamber full of melted casting material and let it harden. Hopefully, knocking the chamber cast out would take the other material out with it.
  17. I have shot 8-10K of their 185gr .40 bullets. I'm a big fan of how consistent their bullets are. Coating is very uniform from bullet to bullet and so is the surface of the actual bullet. None od the dents and dings that I see with other coated (cast) bullets. I've also run through a case of the 200gr .45 SWC and a case of the 155gr .40 as well. I've not noticed any issues with cleaning after shooting them as others have noted.
  18. I actually talked to the guys at Spinta about doing this very thing just a few days ago after shearing off a 2nd gas key. I think its brilliant! Whats the downside? A little more machining time? Anything else?
  19. And would still be awesome if a MOD could please change the title of the thread to 2017 Precision Tactical Alabama Sectional
  20. Assuming it is still being recognized, there are no start positions for the PCC shooters. Better to have all that ironed out beforehand to save confusion. Something clear like "low ready" and/or "port arms" and exactly what that means in DGC-speak...
  21. Dropping my JP bolt into my homebrew carbine with ELF 3G trigger turned it into an occasionally NFA firearm. Random doubles and even a triple before I was convinced that it wasnt my blistering fast trigger finger.
  22. FYI - As a follow-up to the post above... I had lucked into a super-cheap batch of Magnus 124's that were only moly coated. The bullets had a distinct shoulder at the rear of the ogive and this made them very forgiving when loaded a little longer. I recently ran out of those and found another decent deal on some powder-coated 125's and they are sticking in the chamber at ULSC and pulling bullets out, so I am going to have to go to different bullets or seat these a little deeper.
  23. Makes it worth more if the bells and whistles are worth it to YOU! Usually with the 9mm lowers, the differences are in the features of the lower: things like ambi controls, LRBHO, mag release options, etc. Only you can decide if those things are worth the extra coin to you. Regarding LRBHO - The vast majority of Limited and Open shooters that I shoot with have made alterations to their gun's parts, their magazines' parts, or both specifically to prevent the slide locking open inadvertently. Why in the world would I make a fuss over having a feature on my PCC (which has proven to be a PCC failure point) after making an effort to get rid of it on my pistol? I am currently using a "Runner Runner Guns" (rebadged NFA, if I'm not mistaken) lower in the PCC that I put together. It is a non-LRBHO design. Even just using the bolt catch for showing clear and such, the catch has already deformed in its recess and needs to be replaced. My previous thinking was that if JP didn't make a point of making the LRBHO work, I didn't need it. I have a GMR-13 and it has been ultra-reliable and I don't regret no LRBHO at all. Of course now the GMR-15 has LRBHO...I'm don't feel as though I am missing out in any way.
