  1. The setup may not be ideal, but the price is quite right! Figure the mags are at least $50 each depending on components. The ammo is easily worth $200 at a minimum. So, you're basically getting an open gun for $1000. If it runs, that's not bad at all. Great deal to try it out and see if its worth it to you to spend more money. Guess this could be good for falling steel/ProAm-style matches if that's your thing too.
  2. I would venture a guess that there are still slots if you want to shoot.
  3. Surely you've already checked this, but is there crud(powder, grease, oil, etc) in the shellplate cutouts? I'm bad to do stuff wrong and I actually run 9mm with the "W" shellplate...
  4. I run an aluminum buff over a polymer buff in my 6" .40. I'm a fan, but I don't tell many people about it because they always tell me it won't work... It also has a tungsten guide rod... It will all likely explode one day.
  5. Load an ounce and an eighth of #7.5 shot at around 1200-1300fps and blast away.
  6. I think this was a fantastic write-up. I'm sure that I speak for a few other folk on here when I say, thanks for taking the time to do this.
  7. It's fun, but has no place in a "real" 3-gun match. As a 4th gun, sure.
  8. So, I'm curious about all this too. Where does the recoil come from in a PCC? Rhetorical question...I think, but someone may correct me. It seems that a great lot of the recoil in my JP GMR is the result of the massive bolt and SCS reciprocating back and forth. What would make that "feel" the lightest and still guarantee reliability? I started off running factory Rem UMC 115gr stuff(made 148PF in PCC at TN). It ran great. Ran out of the 1000rds or so that I had and grabbed some of my SS minor ammo that is 147gr SNS coated with Bullseye to make about 132PF out of my 5" 1911 at GA State a few weeks back. That felt as good or maybe even better. Would one of those loads cause the bolt to move slower and thus feel better? Is there some convention that we can apply to reloading for PCC? Heavy bullets at lower speed for softer feel? Or lighter bullets at higher velocities for better feel and maybe with a little gas to "work" the comps? What say you all?
  9. Dan may have something in Dothan. Guys are running something in Baker, FL at CORE maybe. That's all I know of in that "region"...
  10. I thought it was just slide/barrel/recoil assembly...
  11. Something very thin slid under it should work... Maybe even a narrow strip of cardstock or cereal box, etc.
  12. Some would argue that the 5" is quicker. I think that 3gun is more about getting hits and thus believe that the 6" sight radius helps greatly in getting quicker hits on more challenging targets. As far as "tracker" or not, having the front sight move less makes it easier to track in recoil. I think this is more helpful in USPSA/IPSC, but it shouldn't hurt anything in 3gun. The biggest issue is managing the weight of a 6" 9mm ribbed barrel...
  13. I'm still looking for more ideas on these magazine coatings...
  14. I'm in the process of buying a similar pistol w/ 1 stock mag for $1750. $1700 or so with 4 mags would be a solid deal. Any chance you have different sights for it? I have a plain black front blade I could donate to something like that.
  15. I have only had to reload my PCC on stages with mandatory reloads. Long Glock sticks with Dawson extensions get me an easy 35+1 to start. That's 4 extra. I finished one stage at the TN match empty but had rounds to spare on every other stage. With the TF extension you get 41 and would certainly be set then. I have one of these on the way.
  16. This is some great info! Thanks for sharing your experience.
  17. You might check with PT. Or post on here that you're looking for one of their frames and possibly find someone who went in for 10 and wants to get rid of one or more...

    Which one?

And, someone missed one a few posts back referring to bust size from Steve RA.. Bigger is DEFINITELY better, to a point. If I wanted little ones, I could play with my own. Also missed one about shooting a match or taking scouts camping from Modoc. Both. Camp Friday night and shoot match Saturday morning.

    Which one?

ANDROID Gas or diesel (for a smaller car)? Please forgive if this is a repeat; at this point I feel like many of them are...
  20. I will say that one cool thing about the MBX 140mm 45 is that it holds 18, that's right, 18rds of .45 in a 140mm mag. It's a skinny follower. I figure that will likely not happen with the STI tubes, but hoping that I can make 17 run with aftermarket springs and followers.
  21. So, maybe stick with factory followers in the short mags and try Grams in the 140's? I have the Dawson wedges on the the short mags to keep them compliant with "the box". STI factory springs for the short mags? Grams for the longer ones? Other suggestions? Eric, the .407" dimension that you reference, is that for the front of the skinnier portion of the feedlips? All the way or opening to that at the front? Using what tools to adjust the lips without damaging them? I know there is the Dawson kit, but I haven't sprung for it...
