It could be said that all brands have some failures, I have had good performance from RTS2 while others have not and they now have a "V5 hardened" version out that I use on a few guns and I have had good and bad experiences with Leopold. Even my latest Sig Romeo3 Max had to go back, but the new one is awesome and it has quickly become my favorite RDS.

I have only seen an SRO at distance and I hear great things about them, but I really like the features on my R3 Max 6 MOA, of course I'm an RTS2 fan as well so there might be a little bias there

Most range brass is good, however I usually stick to FC, Speer and Hornady brass for matches and the rest are for practice. In the past I have used new brass for major matches but honestly if you check over your brass and stick with brass that you know runs well through your gun you should be good without the added expense of new brass.

Springer Precision makes an adapter plate to mount the Romeo3 Max or RTS2, seems to work well on my Legion.

I put 2 V5 RTS2's on my S2's recently, replacing the DPP's I had on them previously. So far all is good and really love the BRIGHT 6moa dot.

Run the P10f it’s good to go! I shot Matt Hopkins P10f not long ago and was impressed. That said I love my S2 and my X5 Legion is just a tick behind the S2. Lots of good choices out there.

The gray guns trigger is an improvement over stock, slightly less trigger pull weight, a little crisper break and less over travel. The trigger face is actually a little narrower than stock and that helps the feel. Overall nothing drastic but nice upgrade.

Yes, this works no matter what. I have several S2's purchased that came from CZ Custom with a trigger job and it is so worth it.

I have had an optic go down at a major match before and a backup keeps you in the match as opposed to packing up and going home.

Have a Romeo 3 Max but it has a RTS2 mounting pattern and to top it off it is a little longer on the front so it may or not fit a normal RTS2 mount pattern. The mounting screws are 4mm instead of the normal RTS2 8/32 mount screws as well. Unfortunately the Legion only fits DPP and R1 pro pattern optics.

Yes there is plenty of room to make a cut for a CZ custom plate on the OP slide, it is a deep cut. Note how far the cut is into the CZ logo by the 9 x 19

Yes a 1 degree cut is needed to keep your optic in the center of its adjustment range. Yes I made the expense mistake of cutting the slide flat and ran out of elevation adjustment on the optic. Likely the best course of action would be to cut the slide for a Cz custom plate that can be swapped out for different optics, that what I did for all my S2’s

I think guns with optics need backups. I have had an RTS2 go down on an open gun at big match and just last year at area 4 my dpp on a CO shadow2 failed towards the end of a stage early in the match and both times having a backup gun really saved the day. I have two mostly identical shadow2 and use one for practice and the other for matches. Having at least the same brand that uses the same mags, ammo and holster helps. For awhile I had an SP01 Shadow as a backup and it worked out ok.

I tried a CZ custom multifit dovetail mount on a SP01 Shadow when I first started, it looked a little goofy with the big DPP optic sitting way up there but it was fun, no it was a lot of fun. Since then I have gone from DPP direct fit on a Shadow 2 to a CZ custom plate system on my Shadow 2.

To me it looks like an updated RTS2 with a bigger glass, the Romeo3 was an RTS2 with a different housing.

Definitely lose the shroud on the DPP and use the lightweight Loki palm swells for Shadow 2 and the lightweight grip screws that come with them. That should get you just under 45oz.

I have two of these and they are Very nice guns, trigger job is the best part. Downside is the gun still needs a lighter main spring and trigger return spring to get a truly great feeling trigger and maybe an extended firing pin, all easy to do. I have a third S2 that is stock and I put just springs in it and it was ok but the trigger felt sloppy and had some creep, not crisp like the CZC gun. Tried a Cajun gun works trigger kit and it was better but not as good as the CZC gun. Of course I am still learning to work on CZ and sure if Cajun gun works did the trigger it would be great as well but then you have more in the gun. Overall it is a time saver and a reasonable value to get the CZC gun, especially if you are new to CZ's

On a a frame mounted gun the RTS2 is awesome, bright and very clear distinct dot with a housing that reminds you of a slide ride C-more but with settings that stay where you put them. Now on a slide mount like a carry optics gun the RTS2 has let me down several times both times with the dot losing zero and going to the top, So far the DPP has been much more durable in CO however the orangish nature of the dot is less than ideal compared to the RTS2. Not much problems on ether dot with batteries though.

Had a RTS2 go down on me yesterday, the dot suddenly went to the top of the glass and all shots hitting below the target, then all over the place. This one was just back from Cmore for a very dim dot. Have two DPP's back for repair, who knows when I will see them back. So yeah three guns is beginning to sound about right for CO.

Have had two DPP's go out on me this year, one was dim and the other relatively new optic stopped working two shots into my third stage at area four this year. I was not a happy camper, fortunately it was on an all paper stage and my hits looked like a shotgun. Thankfully I had a backup gun to continue on with. Both of my DPP's are back for service and just received an email stating 36 business days to repair.

SP01 Shadow is a great way to go, certainly more cost effective, top ends are available at reasonable prices and you could even do a dovetail mount to begin with and still make weight. That said I love my Shadow 2's that I milled for optic, weight, installed lightweight grips and a polymer guide rod. S2 just takes more work to get them legal for division.
