  1. Did same thing with a little conversational CNC programing and it works like a charm.
  2. I just drilled some holes in a CK frame for cmore mount using a Kodiac brand .101 black oxide hss drill bit at 1875 rpm and a 2 ipm feed with moderate coolant flow after a small spot drill. Worked very well
  3. I was in the same boat, tired of getting too much sun and just so happened to find an ad in my facebook stream for Shelta hats https://www.sheltahats.com/collections/seahawk I know it's a little expensive but with the stiff front bill built into the hat and the other high tech features it has been a great hat. It's always stayed out of my face while shooting or ROing and speaking of ROing after spending 5 very long days in the sun at Area 4 this year it was worth every penny.
  4. On one of my CK guns I had to run a reamer down the compensator to help the accuracy in one my guns.
  5. I think comp clearance was the issue on the first one as well and who knows on the second one, but CK did a great job of standing behind their product.
  6. The slides were not tri-topped just flat topped. The first slide cracked on the top at the front center between the popple hole cutout and the end of the slide and the other was on the left side of slide just in front of the breach face.
  7. I have had two slides on two guns crack on me this year, they are about a year and half old and round count about 6,000 each maybe. I was using HS-6 8.8gr with MG 115 jhp @ 1.160 which ran about 170 power factor in my guns. A couple of weeks ago changed to WAC 7.5gr with MG 115jhp @ 1.160 and was shocked at the increase in accuracy and the more predictable dot tracking. I am now thinking that the HS-6 was too much gas for my CKarms guns, the felt recoil difference is slight between the two and scope stays cleaner longer with WAC. I suspect the cause of the cracked slides was ether too little comp clearance and/or slide material not the loads.
  8. Sorry to hear to you guys have to consider these choices, however I can hit a reload much faster and more consistently with a 2011 than a 1911. Lot's of options with the 2011 platform for open not so much for 1911 at the moment and perhaps even down the road the resale of a 2011 open gun will likely be better in the long run.
  9. I hate crimped primers almost as bad as 380 brass in my 9mm cases. Your right, crimped WIN cases just ain't right.
  10. I have two CK arms open guns, one with an original C-More on a traditional mount and an RTS2 that came with a 6moa dot and sent it back to C-More to upgrade to V3 8moa board and it is starting to become my favorite. The RTS2 dot is very sharp almost HD like compared to the original C-More, the dot can be turned up to be much brighter than the original, the bore offset is way better than the original on close in shots and the glass seems to stay much cleaner with the three poppel holes on my guns. There are downsides though, the glass is slightly smaller, it takes longer to shutoff after a stage, the dot on min is almost too bright on indoor ranges and the glass is harder to clean when the gun is in the holster, granted if you don't have poppel holes it would be less of a concern how easy the glass is to clean during a match. A larger glass is really the only upgrade I would like to see in the future as the size of the original glass is perfect.
  11. Took one of his classes last year, was worth every penny. He tells it like it is and does not sugar coat anything so don't be easily offended. He shows you technique and skill drills that will really help.
  12. Looks like a CK arms gun, mine has three popple holes in the barrel which means it will need a little more gas to work well. I use Montana gold 115gr hp with 9.2gr of HS-6 (Powder valley has some in stock) at 1.165 OAL with CCI small rifle primers that nets 1520 FPS. Shoots pretty flat in my gun. I tried 124gr hp and it felt pretty harsh. I hear 8.2gr of Autocomp with a 115gr MG bullet is pretty nice as well.
  13. Hope you are not holding your breath, I ordered two grips from them Oct 3rd 2014 and I'm still waiting. Tiffany keeps saying another 3 weeks..........
  14. Have used both, both are good but, honestly prefer the BBI due to less cost and slightly less powder used per round. My guns wanted another .2-.3 gr per round to hit major with Xtreme's over the BBI's and in 10k rounds that's a good savings in powder.
  15. I believe the Toyota trucks sold in the US are produced in the US. My last two Taco's (09 & 13) were assembled in Mexico, check your VIN if the first number = 3 then Mexico. Have been tempted lately to get a full size Tundra but the hit on fuel mileage with the 5.7L is substantial and parking is well, like parking the Exon Valdez...... The only issues I have ever had is a blower motor on the 09 at 90k miles that started making noise. Normally I get 18mpg if I'm cruising 80-85 on the turnpike, 20 if I have to go the speed limit. Mine is a keeper.
  16. Walther had a demo at area 4 this year and have to say bothe the standard and comp model had a nice trigger out of the box and felt very good while shooting. However........ they need to move or do something else with the mag release as it seems to be way too easy to hit the mag button and drop the mag before you are ready and it happened to two other guys as well.
  17. Montana gold 147gr cmj 1.130 OAL 3.8gr CSB-1 runs very nice out of my XDM 5.25 approx 880fps 129 PF. Meters ok for such a large flat flake powder. The only thing I have found about this powder is it does not work well in my 6" 40 S&W limited gun but the 5" limited gun is ok.
  18. Lexus GS350 4dr or an RC if sexy 2 door coupes are your thing and you actually want it to work........ Nobody said you can't show up to a match in style and it will make you make you smile when you step on the gas
  19. Kinda depends........... Some are made to look cool, some go quite far and will likely result in failure but the performance reasons are for balance of the gun and slide speed, lighter = faster. A good example is the STI Edge with a full dust cover and full heavy slide or a 6" 2011, stock they work well but slide is pretty slow, cut some weight and they work very well. Not sure about cooling but it can't hurt Yes the gun does get more dust in it but not a lot, in my part of the country using a cover over the gun keeps the gun pretty clean.
  20. Precision bullets, BBI and Bayou bullets are all high quality bullets that you can not go wrong with. I use all three, the only difference I can tell on BBI and Bayou is the color of the bullet
  21. I was also on an 8 person squad Friday with I think an RO, he tried to RO but did scoring mostly, good thing we brought 3 certified RO's so we managed. I RO'd quite a bit and I'm sure my performance was effected by the constant distraction and lack of preparing. Hat's off to the shooters on my squad as all pitched in and did what was needed to keep things moving and our squad did not finish until about 6:30-7:00 so we had a very full day as well. Overall I enjoyed the stages, learned a few things about swingers, loved that drop turner, the range was very nice and well laid out. Many thanks to the guy handing out water as I did not bring enough! I'm sure things will be worked out for next year and God knows it an't easy putting on a match especially one of this size, however I will be back next year but on Sat/Sun............
  22. Consider a regular VM, enlarge the loading gate, send to lifter out to C-Rums and get a Carbon arms 10 round stainless mag tube and have a very nice shotgun for very reasonable $$$. The mag tube works and looks awesome, nothing like a little carbon fiber bling to set your gun apart.
  23. Sounds like someone is going to use this in 3 gun...... Have two 6" bushing guns in 40 and two 5" bull guns in 40 and each has their strengths but in a 9mm I would go with a 5"
  24. I have an IR kit for my Pro Chrono and have had excellent results indoors under the lights.
