  1. My Kimbers have been good guns, the Pro Carry in 45 has been great as a carry gun from the start and the 9 MM target II needed an Aftec extractor to run well and a Dawson magwell for competition but after that it was/is a great running gun. Are there "better" guns? More competition specific? Of course but you generally pay more for them and they still might need some fine tuning.

    Optic Ready Shadow2?

I love my Shadow 2's with direct milled in optics and I just milled one for the CZC RDS plate as well, very nice system. My only gripe to CZ is, make some S2 slides available at a reasonable cost, the only slides I have seen are not that far away from buying another gun...
  3. CK builds some awesome open guns, give them good ammo and magazines and they run very well. Have had three of them, still own two of them, very good bang for the buck.

    Shadow 2 Carry Optics

Which polymer guide rod are you referring to to? SP01 guide rod is too short for an S2
  5. Custom 5 inch gun with CK Arms Comp and 3 1/8 popple holes, MG or PD 115gr HP with 7.6gr of Autocomp
  6. For my open guns I tried 3N38 and while it was relatively soft shooting, I was having inconsistent load length due to compressed loads. HS6 was pretty good, but autocomp even better. For me choosing a load is more about how the gun reacts in recoil and the dot movement. HS6 produced more of a circular dot movement and Autocomp was by far the most consistent with small vertical dot movements in my guns.
  7. I have a similar situation on my DPP CO guns, they both wear a small spot in the battery and start blinking off during recoil. Although mine seem to go awhile, maybe a month or so before needing to change the battery to stop playing that annoying game of where's my dot.
  8. Dpp 2.5 is pretty bright......... for a 2.5 Moa dot. Have two of them and they are similar in brightness. Now my rts2 6 moa is brighter but I think it is because of a larger dot.
  9. I like my P10c but would not be my first choice for CO. SP01 shadow is the best/easiest to convert to CO. Sig x5 might be a good way to go as well if you want a striker fired pistol.
  10. CBC and any stepped brass get tossed and I run the rest. FC/Speer/blazer is my favorite
  11. Highly recommend Henning extended base pads, 23 in mag for 24 rd start is to your advantage. My SP01 weighs 43 oz with empty mag.
  12. It should make weight just fine, I used a czc multi optic dovetail mount with a DPP which is a pretty heavy sight on my S1 and it made weight pretty easy.
  13. I enjoy both my S2 and S1 guns, trigger was a little interesting to get used to coming from 2011 open guns but I'm getting there. The S1 is a fun gun to shoot, go for it and enjoy.
  14. They have been pretty good for me, have one on each of my open guns. I sent one back for a dot that was dim but other than replacing a battery every couple of months they seem pretty good. Certainly an improvement over my slide ride C-mores in that the dots were not as crisp and sight drift was always an issue.

    Shadow 2 Optic?

    Might check out Henning http://www.henningshop.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=1368758&CAT=10024
  16. I'm sure there are a number of good mounts out there but in particular I have had great experience with CK Arms mounts

    Shadow 2 Optic?

No, I did the work, nothing like the feeling of taking an almost new gun and letting the mill have it's way with it. Funny how I never worried about how much gun parts weighed before, now i'm looking at tenths of an ounce.... Using a lighter optic crossed my mind as the DPP is heavy compared to others but it also seems to be the most recommended optic to use in this application.

    Shadow 2 Optic?

It can be done, mine makes by .1 oz. Since this pic I taken another .1 off in some Loki grips
  19. I could not even finish last year and have not even bothered to watch this year. Constant win/lose made me dizzy, so I fell of the habit of watching.
  20. That would be nice but hoping that CZ made a plastic guide rod for some of their other models that might fit.
  21. Guys, quick question on CZ guide rods. As you can imagine getting a Shadow 2 to make weight in carry optics has it's challenges, I'm getting close but could use some recommendations for weight loss, in particular if there is a CZ plastic guide rod that is long enough for the S2. I tried the one out of my S1 but it is too short and at .6 oz lighter than the steel rod I need the weight savings.
  22. This sport is for fun, go do what you enjoy. I shoot open USPSA and recently put a red dot dovetail mount on my SP01 and am really having fun with it.
  23. Back up gun has saved my match before and it also serves as a practice gun to spread the wear over two guns instead of one.
  24. CCI SPP work great in 9 major, I have used CCI SRP as well but did not see the need to continue using them in this application after much success with SPP
  25. Mostly me...... since I just purchased a new Shadow 2. Open guns have more things to go wrong. It's kinda like bringing a raincoat so it doesn't rain.
