  1. I called Lone wolf before I ordered my barrel. I then sent them a money order and included the fee ($25.00) for the Lone wolf Custom Shop to ream out teh barrell/chamber to match teh dummy rounds I prepared. I sized teh mixed brass in a Lee die and seated the Precision Moly bullets of a COAL of 1.135 (no powder or primer). So far I fired about 400 rounds of loaded ammo through the LW barrel without a hiccup. After the 400 rounds, the barrel was really easy to clean. A couple of passes with a Hoppes soaked bore brush and then a couple of passes with a Bore Snakeand violet! Clean barrel.
  2. I've got small hands so I just put in a JP that I really like.
  3. Welcome from a Mississippi shooter a little to the south of you.
  4. In June or July of 2010 a friend of mine talked me into shooting with him at one of his practices. He has a Brazos Custom SC, and a 6" STI. Although I have been a shooter/humter gun mag reader for most of my life, I had never heard of STI or SVI. The only wide body 1911's I had ever heard of or seen were Caspian or Para models. I've owned epensive pistol before, but I had just never been exposed to the type of pistol that most Limited and Open Division shooters use.
  5. Boy that would comein handy for those "little" 600 to 800 yard shots. Of course, I don't too oftern try them with a .223 (5.56 X 45mm for the purists), I mostly shoot at long range with a .308 or .300 WinMag.
  6. Already quoted a couple of posters above. Good quote, but already used at least once.
  7. Moderators, pleeeeeze! Where are all teh moderators when you need them.
  8. I saw one once that took the old save the whales picture, and changed it to one with a mushroom cloud coming out of the blowhole. This was combined with another saying "No more nukes." the new sticker read, "NUKE THE WHALES."
  9. I do not have any knowledge one way or the other about the Glockworx, but I do know that the trigger on the Vanek I put in my G24 works. When I first saw the price, I thought now way will I pay $175.00 for a Vanek. Then I shot one and I paid the money. I sent a USPS money order on Monday morning and got the trigger in the mail Saturday morning. I am happy enough with the trigger that I am planning on ordering one for my G35. Once I have the trigger in the 35, both guns will be set up the same other than slide/barrel length.
  10. I like WSF in my Glock 24. I load a 185 Precision Moly at 1.135 COAL over 4.8 grains of WSF in the stock barrel. I recently acquired a Lone Wolf barrel that I had the chamber reamed to fit those reloads. It shoots really well out of the aftermarket traditional rifled barrel, but I have loaded some ammo at 4.9, 5.0, 5.1 and 5.2 grains to run through the chrono.
  11. I spent about a year researching red light cameras for teh city and police department I work for. They do reduce side impact crashes, but do increase rear end crashes at the intersections. There are a couple of ways the different companies get paid. One is to handle eht ticket, paperwork themselves and take an agreed on percentage. Before each ticket is mailed, a police officer reviews the photos/video and determines if there was in fact a red light violation. If the officer signs off on the infraction teh ticket is mailed. the citation is issued to the registered owner and is a civil infraction, like maybe a parking ticket in a major city is issued to the vehicle owner. Cities can also pay a monthly fee for the amount of equipment they have installed by the companies. We decided not to go with the red light cameras because we felt like the state legislature would prohibit their use before long, and we were right. There were four or so cities in Mississippi that had to remove those systems. As a 30 year police officer I have some serious reservations about red light cameras and photo/radar speed enforcement, but ssome states elect to use them. Each person shouldmakeit their business to determine which states and local juriscistions utilized red light camera and photo speed enforcement and drive accordingly. By the way, there are appeallate courts that have upheld their use.
  12. I used my G24 today and for the first time with a newly installed JP. This is the first time I was able to drop mags without shifting my grip, so a blig +1 for the JP.
  13. Ron, was that last year at the LA Gator Classic when your gun had a problem?
  14. I've got a six or seven year old Kimber Gold combat that I carried as aduty weapon for about three years. That gun runs anything I load in the mags, and I have never experienced a malfunction (typing that is probably the kiss of death). I runs clean or dirty. I took it to an police instructors course for a week and shot 1500+ ball and duty rounds with only a couple passes with a bore snake and a couple of drops of oil each day. The pistol is too pretty to carry as a duty weapon, but it feels good.
  15. The first 1911 I shot a lot was my uncle's Colt Satin Nickle Combat Commander. I later inherited that gun and in a jam sold it. That is one of the ones I wish I had not let get away.
  16. If it's my single malt scotch, keep the water and ice away from it. the lawyer wuold say prove it, and the ACLU would say I was abusing it.
  17. Kevin, are you sure you are not from the South? I thought only we did stuff like that.

    Which one?

Bike, I keep falling off the treadmill. Remington Rolling Block or Sharps falling block?
  19. Welcome! I too am a police officer and thought I was a pretty sporty handgun shot until I started shooting matches, and then found out I was extremely mediocre. I have learned a lot from the match shooters, and the guys on this forum. Edited, because I can spell, but don't type very well.
  20. Welcome to the most informative forum on shooting stuff that exists.
  21. Ditto on the military pathces. I get teh biggest bag I can find and they last for a couple of years. I do not prefer teh ones made for the M-16, and teh other ones I can always trim to size.
  22. Hey all you Jarheads, do tehy still do the Hogboard in boot camp? I got my only soda in bootcamp because I put the hottest picture on the Hogboard. I never did tell them that she was my cousin. Congratilations to your som. If you really want to mess with him, get a cheap ring and drop it in a perfumed envelope.
