  1. Wide45 is probably right. These "scrappers" are kicking our butts at work. Anything metal, they steal. 800' of wire from a ecll tower? Stolen. $40,000.00 in wiring from a building for sale? Stolen. They fixed it, and it was stripped again. they even stole the newly installed alarm wiring. they have even been stealing cast iron manhole covers, cast iron manholed rings (the part that installs in the street) and cast iron storm grates. The only ones worse than heh thieves are the low-lifes that buy them as scrap.

    Wisdom

Nice, here are a couple of others: We always seem to gain wisdom more readily through our failuresthan through our successes. We always think of failure as the antithesis of success, but it isn't. success often lies just teh other side of failure. LEO F. BUSCAGLIA Knowing others is wisdom, knowing youself is enlightenment. LAO TZU A man only becomes wise when he begins to calculate the approximate depth of his ignorance. GIANCARLO MENOTTI
  3. Welcome, John. Where in MIssissippi are you?
  4. I showed my wife. She said that after being married to me for 34 years, it was about what she would have guessed. What do ya'll think she meant?
  5. MAn, I fell for you. We have the 90's here: 90+ degrees, and 90+ humidity. but that's the Mississippi Gulf Coast in August.
  6. That summer I was 17, and doint the local music thing myself. On Sunday, the 17th of August, we had to go tear down equipment from a gig the night before at a place called the Fiesta. There was this little storm in the Gulf of Mexico called "Camille." The owner said it was allright if we left the gear there, but we deicided to pack it up. What a lucky decision that was. We were without power for about three weeks.
  7. I read previously on this site (I cannot remember the poster) that there was not a firearm that could not be completely ruined with a Dremel! The quote may not be exact, but the message is. Be careful.
  8. I agree with Duane. The amazing thing is that only about 25-35 thousand people were present for the Hendrix rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. It was on Monday morning and most of the bands had delayed starts because of the rain. The Hendrix show had originaly been planned as the grand finale on sunday evening. Most rock stars would not have even gone on stage at that point. AS for being disrespectful, the same thing was said about Jose Felkiciano's televised version at the World Series, I belive also in 1969.
  9. We once had a police captain that a young patrolman tols me was like a bottle rocket. At the beginning of something he generated a bright flash, a lot of smoke then you never saw him again. Thus, Captain Bottle Rocket.

  11. Just got mu new glasess. My doctor focused my right eye bifocal on the front sight, and slightly raised up the transition are of the progressive bifocal. It is slightly a pain for non-shooting reading, but it seems to be worthy it. My doctor told me that she has about 5-6 guns in the office every week in order to focus the patient's eye on teh front sight. It sure made it a lot easier when the doctor understaind ahead of time what you want.
  12. Welcome to the forum. Here's a picture of my two Limited Glocks. They both have stock barrels, Warren Tactical Sevigny Competition FO sights, JP Enterprises magwells and both were stippeld by a friend. The 35 has a Wolff competition spring kit ahd I did the polishing of the fire control parts myself. the 24 has a Vanek Custom competition trigger system and springs. With the Dawson base pads I get a "reliable" 18 rounds. I also have two magazines with Arredondo base pads that I am able to get 20 rounds in. so far they seem to work well in practice sessions, but I have not tested them in a match. My load I use for both is a Precision 185 moly coatd bullet over 4.8 grains of WSF, Wincester small pistol primers loaded out to a COAL of 1.135.
  13. Does the UBR use the carbine lower extension (buffer tube) 0r the rifle extension? I've never seen a UBR up close, but the bextension that are used ot mount an M-4 type stock have a plate with a tab that fits into a groove on the bottom of the buffer. This keeps the collapsible stock from spinning on the tube. The back side of the plate also has a raised area that fits into the lower receiver to stabilize it. Could this be your problem?
  14. Does articulate mean the same thing as 'splain? ('splain isMississippi for explain for all my northern cousins out there)
  15. About 30 years ago I went to the range and some of my buddies were shooting indes cards for quarters wiht a Ruger Security Six (fixed sights, 38 HBWC ammo) at increasing distances. I had never fired that revolver before and they were taking my quarters. They got greedy and bumped the bet up to $1.00 a shot, then $5.00 a shot just aboutteh time I figured out I was pulling high and right. I get 'em pretty ggod tehn. Next they set six Coke cans up at 100 yards, and were betting dollars while they tried to hit teh cans with a Savage 99 in .250/3000. They wouln't let me play, so after all four of them missed a couple of times each, I thumb cocked the Ruger and began to draw a bead on the far left can. My friend Harry looked at me and said "Ain't no way!" I not only hit teh can, I hit the can on the first shot at 100 yards. There was a stunned silence, then cursing, then demands for a repeat and finally an offer of a $100.00 bet that I couldn't repeat that shot. None of my really good friends believed I could do it again. I was almost positive that hitting the can was 100% pure Mississppi luck so I declined. Everytime we get together guess what topic comes up? I am so glad I never tried another shot at those coke cans. Instead of ending in failure, all they remember is a "miracle shot."

    COPS!

If they were smart enough to keep their mouth shut, they would probably ahve a job, but you are right.
  19. Way back in the 50's, my Little League team played a visiting/touring team from Mexico. Their best pitcher pitched four innnings left handed, and then pitched two innings right handed. I remember I didn't get a hit off him from either hand. I asked the coach it I could change to bat left handed, and he replied that I wasn't a switch hiiter. I told him it couldn't be any worse as the the kid had already struck me out three times. He didn't think that was too funny. I think I still have my old glove with that Mexican kid's signature on it.

    Zen Practice

I like those too. Here are another couple of good ones: If you use your mind to study reality, you won't understand with your mind or reality. If you study without using your mind, you'll understand both. Bodhidharma Everyting good and bad comes from your mind. To find something beyond the mind is impossible. Bodhidharma
  22. After one neck surgery, two aleft ankle surgeries, three back surgeries and six (yeah, six) surgeries, I can sympathize with you. It sometimes makes it hard to be enthusiastic about doing anything, because something always hurts.
  23. If I'm not mistaken, "jibe" is a nautical term used on sailboats. But, maybe I'm daydreamin' again.
  24. The Glock 30's can be a little tougher to wear "concealed," but it is possible. I have smal;ler hands and thoght a Glock 36 would be a nice fit, but after I got one I found that when I shot it the sall little space between teh baseplate and the grip pinches the crap out of my little finger. Then I found that a glock 32, 23 or 19 was almost the same exact size. They even fit the same holsters. I went back to my 32C.
