  1. DPMS LR308, steel upper, 24" stainless "cryo'd" bull barrel, JP trigger, hard chromed carrier = purchased a few years ago for right at $1500.00. Minus MOA out to 500 yards. It will probably hold that farther, but I have not tried it at ranges exceeding 500. I have a Burriss XTR tactical scope on it that is ok, but was planning to put a better optic on. I kind of got delayed when I started shooting USPSA matches.
  2. Ron; In 2010 I squadded with you at the Gator. I just acquired an open gun (1st one) and I wouldlike to ask you a few questions wnem you have time. If it is not a problem please e mail me at forbesbiloxi23@yahoo.com or through the site. Thanks, Gerald

  3. My uncle, my mother's brother, was a Marine Private at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He was later wounded during during the assault on Pelilieu and again on Okinawa. He used to tell me stories about his experiences in the Pacific during WWII. He was a small unassuming, meek appearing, small statured man. And he was one of my heroes. On the day I enlisted in teh Marines, I called him before I told my dad. He was the person that really taught me that there is no shame in being afraid, but a real man does his duty in spite of the fear. I miss him. Semper Fi, Uncle Ralph.
  4. NL7CO: Your age is showing you to be one of "us." By "us" I mean one of the old guys. C Ration? It has been awhile since any branch of the military issued C Rats. to this day I can remember the smell and crappy texture of the worst combat meal ever foisted on fighting men. Officially they are known as Ham and Lima Beans, but the troops not so lovingly refer to tehm as "ham and mother------s." If it wansn't for the Tobasco Sauce from home, I wouldn't have been able to choke them down. Oh, the memories!
  5. Two PRS- one a Custom 24 and one a Brazilian necked McCarty.
  6. No '61 Strat, but I do have a wicked sounding '74 Telecaster Deluxe, the one with the Strat type head stock. It looks like a WW III survivor, but plays soooooo good. It also one of the few that was built with a tremolo Strat bridge.

    Retirement

Stay chilly, Sparky. I hit 30 years in LE in June. I could have retired several years ago, but I got a position I have wanted for 15 years, so I will hang for a littlw while longer.
  8. I've been shooting a Glock 35, then a Glock 24 in Limited for a little over a year. Today I traded two good guitars for two STI pistols, the first STI's I've owned. One is a 5" Limited in .40, and the other is s 4.15" open gun in .38 Super. Now to see if I can remember to sweep off the safety after drawing. And more importantly, to flip the safety on after loading.
  9. did you watch him kick the guy on the ground during todays game? Boy, he did his team a lot of good in the dressing room. I agree with plying hard and aggressively, but this guy remndsw me of Mike Tyson in football pads. He is a great player but kind of nuts. Any thoughts on whether the league will suspend him for today's conduct? By the way, I am not a Packers fan. I was kinda hoping Detroit would upset Green Bay.
  10. Maybe I'm figuring this wrong but a 185 @ 930 fps would be a power factor of 174, would it not? I ammaking major by shooting a 185 grain Precision Moly over 4.6 grains of WSF from a Glock 24 (6" LWD barrel).
  11. Or if the range is narrow, with fairly high berms (like the one I shoot at, it narrows way out), them wind will swirl. You can see it through the optics, and it looks like a miniature tornado. At about 275+ there is a low spot in teh berm on one side and this will sometimes cause the wind to push the bullet from the opposite direction from the prevailing wind. There are so many variable, it sometimes becomes more of an art than a science. Then Yu sometimes have days where teh conditions are terrible and you can't seem to make an experienced judgment on any of the factors, and despite this you still seem to be able to get good hits. I
  12. Cool. Maybe I wasn't so clear on the data book line. You are right, and there are a lot of companies that have discovered the "sniper" craze that seems so prevalent now. A good part of the "doo dads" main function is to separate shooters from their money. At my local range there are a bunch of guys that have tricked out, 1,000 yard rifles that can't hold 3" at 100 yards. The most awsome shooter I ever met shot an old Savage heavy barrel in .30-06. He was about 80, had been shooting for 70 years, and he could not just read the wind, I think he could see the wind. Over the course of one year he taught me more about shooting than I ever acquired any where.
  13. By data books, I was referring to each shooters recorded data of how his rifle shjoots in a particular condition, and not a generic "how to" book. I shoot my rifle a lot an experience lets me know what it will do because I've done it before. son't spend a lot of money on teh "doodads" just spend the money on ammo and shoot.
  14. As so brilliantlly stated by Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn in Fast Times At Ridgemont High), "Awesome, totally awesome."
  15. No you're wrong! That's a 1:7 twist barrel, not a 1:9 twist.
  16. I know it is contrary to most of what I've read, but my Lone Barrel chrono's consistently faster than my stocl Glock barrel wtih teh same loads. For example, at teh first match I shot with teh LWD barrel, the match chrono registered my loads at a PF of 179. I had consistently chrono'd the same load at 169-170 for almost a year from the stock barrel. After the match I again chrono's the load with both barrels and confirmed that the LWD barrel seems to shoot faster. this may be due to teh barrel being reamed to my loads making it be more efficient. I'm loading to 1.135.
  17. No epoxy. That's a JP Enterprises mag well and the screw is on the bottom. I'll ask him, but In know that he used different tips on a 25 watt soldering iron. He has even experimented with altering the shape of tips, and other mods to the tips.m m He's done the tree bark patterns, round, polygons and both vertical and horizontal lines. He sacrificed some old P Mags to practice on and told me they gave he a good sense of how to to the pistol frames.
  18. I amone of those guys that really doesn't qualify to pick which is best, because I only have experience with the stock barrel and the Lone Wolf barrel. I shoot the same loads in my Glock 24 with the Lone wolf barrel as I shot in the factory barrel. They both seem to shoot equally as accurate,m and neither had any problem feeding. I went to the Lone Wolf barrel because the Precision moly bullets I shoot would crud up the barrel after awhile. when I would shoot no more than a couple of hundred rounds a day it was not a problem. As I began shooting more, it began to be a chore to clean the stock barrel. The stainless LWD barrel seems to be acurate and is way easier to get clean. It normally only takes a few minutes to clean the barrel. I know this does not answer you question, but this is the best I can do, based upon my lack of experience with the other barrels.
  19. COAL of 1.135 out of a LWD stainless barrel. I sent them COAL 1.135 dummies and they reamed the chamber to fit the reloads. I attached the wrong quote, and cannot fiugre how to add the proper one. I was responding to Trini's question asking what the overall length of my loads was. Again , 1.135.
  20. I don't have a 2011, but I do have CQC holster for my kimber Gold Combat on a duty type rig. I just looked at it and it does not appear to have enough room for the squared triggerguard. The lock on the holster fits pretty tightly, and looks to becontoured around the triggerguard. It unlocks when you push the unlock tab with your triggerfinger.
  21. I used grip tape for a while, but then one of my friends got pretty good at stippling polymer pistol frames. I had him stipple teh Glock 35 first, and like it so much I had him do the Glock 24. He undercut the triggerguard on the 24 a little more, and reduce the frontstrap finger grips slightly more on the 24. I plan on getting him to stipple my work 32C with a smaller tip so it will have smaller "stipples" (is that a word?)and snag less on clothing.
  22. Welcome! I hope you don't stay long. What will you be shooting? Sorry. I will be shooting Limited. I have a Glock 24 for now but have been trying to put aside money for an STI. It gets difficult when I keep spending money for powder, primers and bullets.

    Occupy!

Let's occupy somethng else. I've been in the kitchen at our Hooter's and I would not breathe in there, much less eat anything that came out of there. We've arrested at least four of the cooks for drug charges, armed robbery, etc. and teh most important thing, at our Hooter's there is a distinct lack of Hooters.

    Occupy!

Them daily bulletin at my police department read: "The Occupy Biloxi did not "occupy" very much of the deparment's time." There was six of them in a local park that is a tribute to veterans of all wars. Their web site indecats that there may have been as many as ten, but one did not have a tent, and a couple did not have gas money. both the leaders of the Biloxi chapter" are my age or older and look like they wer leftovers from Woodstock that were trying to rekindle their passionate protest of the 60's. to their credit, they left the park cleaner thatn it was thatn when they got there. I suggested to the city Hall to offer them jobs in Parks and Recreation since they were obviously not employed and had an interest inbeautifying the cith. I'l let ya'll (you guys to allmy norhtern bretheren) how that works out.
