  1. I am shooting the same load out of my G24 with a LWD stainless barrel that I shot for almost a year out of the stock barrel. the bullet is a 185 Precision Moly bullet over WSF and I am getting an average of 50 fps faster from teh Lone wold barrel. This is from four different chrono sessions, and at different temperatures. The difference is consistent. the Lone Wolf barrel seems to be very accurate and a whole lot easier to clean. The OEM barrel would "moly up" but not so bad that it had to be cleaned during a match. Based upon other comments here, I sent five dummy rounds loaded to COAL of 1.1385 to Lone Wolf and they reamed the chamber to fit my loads. I have laoded a new bunch of ammo to chrono that is .2, .3 and .4 less and will see what PF they chrono to.
  2. I have the Warren Tactical Sevigny competition sights on my G35 and my G24. On my work gun, a G32C H iave the Heinie Slant Pro Straight 8 night sights. The front is thinner than the standard Trijicon Glock sights, and the rear is slioghtly wider. the Heinie is also off-set so as to give about a 1/4" longer sight radius, which is about a 1/16th or so increase. I am "older" and my eyes seem to see better wtih a narrower front and wider rear. If you can, try to shoot a couple of guns from other shooters that have already changed their sights. What works for me, may not work for you. Like teh commercial says, your mileage may vary.
  3. Welcome. If the folks here cannot answer your questions, they may not be answerable (is that a word?).
  4. I HATE to hear that. I always thought Joe would have been the toughest man alive in a no rules alley fight.
  5. My heart says LSU, but I wouln't bet this one either way. This is two really awsome teams. the only thing I will tell you for sure is that an SEC team will win this game. Probably.
  6. Welcome from South Mississippi. My son in law is stationed at Fort Drum, and he and my daughter live in Watertown. He just got beck from Afghanistan the first week in October. Welcome again, and thanks for you service to this country.
  7. Its buzzer? I thought it was the delete button. Everytime they push it, it deletes whatecer plan I HAD.
  8. I've got two magazines with Arrendondo bottoms and extremely modified followers that will hold 20. But, and it is a big but, they are not reliable. Saturday at the Gator I started one stage with one, and encountered a type of malfunction (FTF) that I never had before. The round that failed to feed was almost stright up and down, and teh sides of the case were generally paralell to the sides of the mag. I've tried Wolff springs and ISMI springs and even Arrendondo followers, and have problems when loading over 18. I have Dawson bases with moderately modified followers and ISMI springs which although they will only (I never thought I would refer to "only" holding 18) hold 18, function flawlessly. After taking about 10 seconds to get that malfunction cleared, I went with Dawson bases and 18 rounds for the rest of the match and never had a malfunction. I was still pretty slow, but not because of the magazines.
  9. Ivoted and reload with the Precision 185 Moly coated bullets.
  10. I have had good luck with Ken Farrell rings. They are drilled from bar stock, and come marked front and rear and are serial #'d to ensure they stay as a matched pair.
  11. This past weekend at the Gator Classic was a "lost" brass match. They allow the Explorer Post to police the brass, and they sell buckets of the stuff at the end of the match for a very cheap price. Even beyond that, with that amount of shooters, and the grass in the shooting bays, I didn't even pick up the round from the unload and show clear. There were several times I looked down after hosltering and saw more than one .40 with a Precision moly bullet in close proximity. With the limited aount of time between shooters ther sometimes is just not enough time, to find one round, pick up brass, paste targets set steel and get them painted and teh next shooter started. And this was a match with four (4) RO's per stage.
  12. Will, it was good to shoot in teh same squad with you. I was totally impressed with your abilities as a shooter. Makes me wish I was about 40 years yonger, but even in my prime I don't think I had your kind of natural ability. Keep working, I can easily see you as a future GM.

  13. Brandon, I enjoyed shooting with you at the Gator. Give me a call if your ever in Biloxi, I can be reached through the police department.

  14. This was only my second "big" match, and both were at the Gator, last year and this year. Thanks to all the RO's and staff for making this the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Thanks to all the guys on Squad 6. This was a great bunch of guys and one really nice lady. Special kudos to teh RO staff at Stage 11, "Gris Gris" which included my first ever experience with a Polish Plate Rack. The CRO on this stage was one of the funniest people I've ever met, and his humor had a lot to do with helping me relax. The food was great, the stages were awesome, the weather was almost perfect and the shooters and staff could not have been better. Thanks for a great event. Edit note: Thanks to the Stage 11 CRO for offering me the hammer when I was having trouble seating a mag in my glock during the make ready. My friend Gerwin got that on camera.
  15. About five years ago I bought a DPMS LR308 that had been special ordered by a local police officer. Before delivery (this was when there was a loooonnnnng wait for .308 AR's), he ran into financial problems nad never took delivery. The rifle came with a 24" stainless barrell that had been cryo treated. The receiver is steel with a higher rail rather than the standard aluminum. the trigger was JP Match trigger. This rifle is as accurate as anything else I own and I have several 1/2 MOA rifles. I shoot mostly Gold Medal Match with 168's but it shoots 175' and 190's estremely well through the 1 in 10 twist barrel. I will eventually change the barrel, but not because the stainless DPMS barrel will not shoot but because I want to change the caliber. I have been toying with the idea of just building new rifle rather than screwing with one that already works.
  16. Ken, Try a company called Accuracy Systems. They make rifles in the WSM calibers, as well as the RSUM calibers. They build both bolt guns and magnums on AR-10 type platforms. They offer barrels, bottom metal, receivers or will build on you existing platform. I have shot several of their rifles and plan to get them to rework my DPMS LR308 into a 6.5 X47 Lapua.
  17. In about 1988 I was one of those guys that called Glocks "That plastic [piece of sh--." At that time I was carrying a 1st generation Smith and Wesson 645. while at teh range I was pretty impressed with the way a previously marginal shooter was doing. He let me shoot the Glock 17. I stopped at teh local gun shop on teh way hoe and traded the 645 head up for a new Glock. I've carried one ever since. I do own some expensive pistols such as Kimbers, Colts, SIG's and others. But, I keep coming back to the Combat Tupperware. They feel like they are made for me. The only ones I do not feel fit me very well are the G21 (for me the 21SF is an improvement) and the G36. The 36 pinches the crap out of my little pinkie right where teh base pad meets the grip frame. I would much rather carry a 13 shot 32C or 23C. They are the same size as a 36 and even fit the same holsters. I am not saying they are the best guns, but that they are the best fit for me.
  18. And what is truth, is truth unchanging law? We both have truths, are mine the same as yours? PONTIUS PILATE to JESUS in "Jesus Christ, Superstar."
  19. We had a local dealer donate a Glock for a benefit for one of our police officers that has been battling Hodgkins, and has built up a large debt over what is covered by insurance. The raffle raised over $3,500.00. the guy that won is a rich guy that bought 100 tickets at $5.00 a pop. Then he turned around and gave the gun back to be raffled again, and the proceeds given to the same officer. AI know to a guy with his kind of money, that $5090.00 is like $5.00 to me, but what a gesture.
  20. I agree with what lumpygravy said. Sort of like, "Somedays you're the windshield, somedays you're the bug."
  21. I think I read that Jerry Miculek said once, "If you ain't wrecking, you ain't racing."
  22. Man, I must be an old timer because I was originally taught the 6 o'clock hold by the Marine corps 40 or so years ago. And I do remember carbide lamps and the soot that was used to blacken the sights. And when I first started in law enforcement we were using Smith and Wesson Model 66-1's, and most all fo the proficent shooter used to two-stage the double action pull. Our qualification course was even teh old PPC Long Course that involved shooting 12 rounds at 50 yards. The six o'clock hold allows for you to see exactly where yur sights are when teh shot breaks, but becomes more and more difficult as the time allowed decreases. For those of us that are "old guys," the PPC and military courses were extremely generous when it came to time allowed to fire a course of fire. Military was almost always power and accuracy, and PPC was almosty all accuracy. .38 wadcutters in 4 or six in Smiths were the rule. If I remember the load right, it was a 148 grain hollo-based wadcutter over 2.7 grains of Bullseye. Not too fast, but I don't know if there is a more predictable pistol load around.
  23. Congratulations! I always thought that Miller was a good name for a boy. Or Johnny Walker Merricks sounds good too.
  24. It's tacticool! All teh guys likie the tactical thing for the BCDI factor. That is "Because Chicks Dig It."
