  1. I shot Precision 185 moly's in both my G35 and G24. They were both fine. I loaded them over 4.7 grains of WSF for the 24 and 4.9 for the 35. Every once n a while I'd pull a Boresnake through the barrel.
  2. Boy Mat, that sure looks better than it did Tuesday evening.
  3. I am way less experienced than most of you guys, and at the Mississippi classic I ws the least experienced ( also the slowest) shooter in my squad. They were all great guys, as were the RO's. They made sure all misses, not shoots, etc were brought to my attention. It was the same for each shooter, and I don't think we ever got behind. I think the only stage that we had a squad waiting on us was right after the classifier stage which went really quickly.
  4. I don't want to steal Mat's thread, but I was at his house when he got back from the range. He told me the gun shot great. The comp that he Dremel'd looks way better than it does in the photos he posted.
  5. I have a .40 Eagle that i shhot in Limited USPSA. I load long at 1.180 with a 185m grain Precision moly over 5.0 grains of WSF. It runs great, but the gun will feed any factory ammo I loaded in the mag. So why load long? Because I really like the way that load feels and it makes major. The STI was originally designed for a .45 ACP length cartridge, and a factory 9mm is Wsustantially shorter as was a facotry .40. Most STI double stack mags include a spacer for 9mm. Willl you need to load 9mm long for an Eagle? Probably not, but shoot it and see.
  6. All you need is some white to really make it patriotic. Lokos god, Mat.
  7. How about Plan 9 From Outer Space? or Attack of the Killer Tomatoes? Or, Attack of the Killer Shrews?
  8. Just finished American Sniper and started Generation Kill. Next up will be Lone Survivor, the book about Navy Seal Marcus Lutrell.
  9. I saw a Black Shelby Mustang, you know the one with no chrome other than the cobra emblems. The tag read NOTAGT. Good looking car. Real good looking car.
  10. Welcome, Elroy. You couldn't have picked a better forum. I too carry a Glock every day, but after a practice session with a friend's STI 2011, I put my tricked out Limited G24 and G35 in the closet. I shoot my duty 32C more than both of the long slides. But, for matches, it is for sure the 2011.
  11. I'm not left handed, but I cannot reach the slide stop/slide release on a 1911/2011, Glock or M&P because of short fingers growing ut of small hands. I just rack the slide, whether loading or reloading.
  12. I too had an aversion to the police when I was a teenager, Niot that I did anything real bad, I was just a typical PITA to our local officers. then, after a few years in the Marines and a few more overhauling nuvl;ear submarines, I got hired by the local police department. That was in 1982 and I still love it.
  13. I have a modified stainless Gold Cup with a comp on it. The Eliason rear sight was replaced with a Wichita adjustable rear.
  14. USPSA vs IDPA: I've never even gone to anIDPA match, but a bunch of the guys that come to our local outlaw matches shoot them regularly. It is fun to start start a spirited discussion (argument?) with them over USPSA vs IDPA. They get seriously offended if anyone even hnts that what they do is not really "real world." I think last Saturday they finally figured out that another guy and I were uust having a good time yankin' their crank. Hey it's all shooting. That's why they make Chevies and Fords. If it's fun, go for it.
  15. Welcome, Beech. what part of the state are you in?
  16. I finally broke down and got a 625, it came in Thursday. So far I've shot about 100 rounds out of it. I've never owned a .45 Auto revolver even though I own a bunch of 1911's. On ething I noticed is factory 230 grain FMJ seems way more intense out of the revolver than it does from even a 3" 1911. The grips were not fitted very well, and the top corners of the grips stuck out into points that stabbed my strong hand while firing the gun. About 20-30 minutes with fine file and a little sandpaper made it way better. This revolver is definitely a handful.
  17. I did. Just when I thought I had gotten really jaded. Ooooooooorah!

    Push ups!

Yeah man, the low calorie Coors Lightcounter-cats all of the calories you get from eating the ice cream (sherbet). Kind of like the pictures they have of me drinking a Diet Mountain Dw and eating a two pack of Twix bars.. It makes perfedt sense to me. and I'min good dhape too. But, the shape is round........
  19. Yesterday I "pulled the trigger" on a Performance Center 625. I havean STI Limited, G24 Limited, G35 L:imited and an STI Open gun. this will be my first serious attempt at revolver shooting since the early 80's (Model 66 duty gun at work). I just got the urge to own one.
  20. It was too tight when I got it. Even when new, it would fail to feed with factory 180's, whether loaded at 1.115 or 1.125, or reloads. The only thing it would reliably feed was Precision Moly's loaded out to 1.132-1.135. These bullet profiles are a round nose flat point. After I changed teh extractor, The factory barrell would feed anything. Try a new extractor, it's a pretty inexpensive fix if it works for you.
  21. I've been carrying a Glock at work for over 20 years (cop for 30 years, started in 1982 with revolvers), every day, sometimes all night. I started shooting USPSA with a friend in July of 2010, and I started with a Glock 35 in Limited. I started in Limited because that's what my friend shoots (Brazos Custom 2011. I love Glocks. Then I shot his 2011, and bought one. I love it, and I shoot Limited because I've been trying to beat my friend at one sport or another for 25 or so years (the only thing I can best him at is long range precision rifle-guess which one I used to practice at the most?). I like buying new toys, and have a pnchant for expensive pistols, rifles, guitars and in younger days motorcycles. I am extremely mediocre at all of tehm, but I still like to race. I think the Limited Divison is fun, and have been thinking about a flashback to my early cop days and getting a 625 (becuase I can't find a 610). does that mean I will be competitive in the Revolver Division? Nope. As to who competes in which Division, with what, I could not care less. All the top level guys I have had a chance to talk to have been really friendly, and did not hesitate to talk with an "also ran." At the Alabama Sectional I spent about 10 minutes talking wtih KC while waiting on a slower squad. He was a really nice guy, and seemed to be a great ambassador for which ever sponsor hs is representing. So from an "also ran," I don't really care who shoots for who, but I still wanna watch them shoot.
  22. A bad extractor caused me numerous feeding problems in a G35 at the 2010 Gator. The problem was diagnosed at the Briley booth. He gave me a brand new extractor, and violet! No more failure to feed. Apparently teh gap between the extractor hook and the bolt face was too tight.
