Hi, Does anyone have any firsthand experience with this exact scope? It appears to have been released in 2017 as a replacement to the VX-6. This scope is the VX-6HD. Street price is in the area of $1,300. The center dot is green and has hash marks similar to the Swarovski Z6i. If so, how would you rate the reticle? Is the dot now truly daylight visible? Is the scope durable? Overall impressions? The Leupold product # is 171556. On paper it looks good, due to it's weight, price point and features. Thanks, CB

Thanks for the responses. I am not interested in trying to shoot a shotgun right handed by blocking my left eye. I have tried it and it simply doesn't feel right. I am still trying to determine if choosing the Browning A5 Stalker as my platform in a right handed version (only way it is made) and shooting it left handed will present any issues in a 3 gun match. Also what about shotguns where a Match Saver is needed? Is there an issue using my right hand (support hand) to manipulate the shell on the Match Saver into the chamber? Thoughts?

Hi, I am looking to add a semi automatic shotgun to my collection for use in 3 gun. I am naturally right handed but I shoot long guns left handed due to eye dominance. I'd prefer to stick with a right handed gun for several reasons including resale, selection, parts availability, etc. Can anyone let me know me know if you see any potential issues? I am considering the newer style Browning A5 Stalker mainly due to the speed load feature. From what I understand this eliminates the use of a match saver. I am thinking this shotgun would be easier to live with in a RH model and me shooting it LH. Suggestions and advice would be much appreciated. Chris

Gotcha. I wasn't sure on the velocity aspect as factory ammo with the same Bullet weight would be closer to 3,000 fps. The load seems to work, but I need further experimentation.

I am using the BR primers only because that is what I had available. I use a Dillon 550B. I get a little variance in powder charge, but not .8 grains. I know the load is safe. What I am trying to determine is if I have enough power to knock down steel out to 200 yards. Thanks.

Well I am further north than you Sarge. I'd rather spend less time on case prep and more time actually getting the rounds loaded. CB

Hello, I am working up a load for my 3 gun rifle with a 16 inch barrel. Yesterday I shot the rifle with this load: 1) Once fired 5.56 brass 2) Primer pocket swaged and cleaned 3) 55 grain Hornady bullets with cannelure 4) 24.8 grains of IMR 8208 XBR 5) 2.215 OAL 6) CCI Benchrest primers I chronographed 5 rounds and got an average velocity of 2,850 FPS. Accuracy was plenty sufficient. So the questions is should I up the charge powder charge to get a little more velocity? I will be shooting the rifle in a club level rifle only match this Saturday. For what it's worth, the maximum distance is usually about 200 yards. I think I am slightly below a minimum power factor, but Im not sure. I will be shooting Tac Ops. Chris

I strongly suggest using a swaging tool over a reamer. I found the reamer to be way too much work especially when prepping a high volume of 5.56 brass. I use the Dillon swager, but there are others. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the replies. With regard to the Leupold VX-6 with firedot, are you talking about the CMR2 reticle? In your experience, is the reticle visible in bright daylight? Does anyone have experience with the Bushnell and Meopta scopes mentioned above?

Hello, I just finished building my first AR 15 from scratch. It is a matched set billet upper and lower with a 16 inch government profile barrel. I am looking for opinions on a 1-4 to 1-6 variable power scope with a good and simple daylight visible reticle and forgiving eye box at 1X. I'd like the scope to come in less than 20 oz to keep everything light weight. I will spend up to about $2K but less would be nice. I am using this rifle for tactical training and home defense. The rifle will be used at distances of 200 yards and under. I believe I want a SFP scope unless someone can convince me otherwise. I am not going with a red dot scope as they are not clear for me unless I wear my prescription glasses. I am looking pretty hard at the Meopta Mtac 1-4 and the Bushnell Elite Tactical 1-6.5 SFP with BTR-1 reticle. The Vortex Razor is too heavy as are most of the offerings from Burris. Schmidt & Bender short dots, Leupold Mark 6 are not options due to price and configuration. I liked the Steiner TX5i but it didn't seem to get good reviews. I'm not sure I like the reticle on the Swarvoski Z6i. The Kahles 1-6 is nice but a little too pricey. I'd appreciate everyone's opinions. Chris

Hi, Thank you for all of the responses. I can do simple work on my own, but I would prefer to have the shotgun worked up by a professional. Thus far I am leaning toward the Adkal due to it's superior construction and lower cost to become three gun ready. I would probably stay away from a drum magazine due to weight. It looks like price of admission is in the range of $2,000 for something set up nicely and not including an optic. In a traditional magazine (not a drum), what is the most capacity I could get for an Adkal shotgun and who would be the supplier? Chris

Hi, There is a very good chance I am moving to Illinois, so I am starting to re-evaluate my three gun equipment. I currently use a home made Remington 870 pump. I am thinking about taking the plunge into a magazine fed shotgun. So of the somewhat readily available manufacturers, which woukd you choose and why. I realize I will need to go aftermarket to most likely get the shotgun match ready. The choices are Saiga 12, MKA 1919 or the Molot Vepr 12. So given aftermarket gunsmiths and available accessories, which would you choose and why? Chris
