  1. Welcome from Mississippi, and another big thank you from the Magnolia State.
  2. Never hd a 110 BA, but have had a couple of 110FP, and curently own a 10FP with a 26" barrel. It's a tack driver, and the Accutrigger hasn't been touched since 2006.
  3. Another Honor Flight was just welcomed to the Biloxi-Gulfport International Airport. They depart in about 15 minutes for Washington D.C. They are fading fast. One of the heroes that was scheduled for the flight died Sunday. A big slaute and a thank you to these great heroes. OOOOOOOOOOOOOORAH!
  4. The air national Guardpistol range in Gulfport has sheets of plywood suspended on chains from the steel beams. they are approcimately 12 feet off the ground and are slanted towards the inmpact area. Side walls are reinforced concrete. there are 25 shooting lanes. the big drawback is teh noise to the shooters. It is LOUD. also, it requires the use of large floor fans to ensure that lead particles are blown to the berm end. the fans add to teh noise level, but do add a cooling breeze (wind tunnle velicities) down the shooting lanes. these requirements were put in due to new regulations imposed because of the airport that the range is located on. I will ask the Range Master about the possibility of gettng photos to post.
  5. No, that's down here in Mississippi. but the rules are that trahs and devris can be burned in teh front yard, but garbage has to go in teh backyard burn pit.
  6. The Sand Pebbles by Richard McKenna, I read it years ago after seeing the movie starring Steve McQueen, Candice Bergen, Richard Crenna, Simon Oakland and Mako. It is the tory of a US Navy river gunboat during the early 30's.
  7. Replace either your mag springs and followers, or try magpul P-mags. I think that will solve your problems.
  8. Or you can leave it loose. One of the most accurate AR's I ever had was loose as hell, It rattled like crazy, and shot that way too.
  9. My Agency uses Ranger T's, and surrounding agencies use Gold dots, Golden Sabers, and a couple use Federals. I think that the premium ammo line from any of the major manufacurers will provide more than acceptable performance. I would stay away from any on the "exotic"m ammo types you will see that have ear-catching names, like exploders, etc. They probably don't work any more efficiently than premium ammo, and like Poppa Bear wrote, do you really wnat to pay your lawyer for defending the name of your ammunition?
  10. Welcome from the Mississippi Gulf Coast
  11. What RIIID said. I have used this several times over the past 40 years or so.
  12. I have a 625PC revolver, but do not shoot a revolver in competition. In 1982 when I started in law enforcement we were tayght teh FBI method and inserted the speedloaders with the strong hand, and ejected the spent rounds with the off hand. The reason we were given at the time by an NRA Master Instructor was that grabbing the speed loader and inserting the rounds in teh cylinder was a fine motor skill. Most training recognized that under stress, fine motor skills are most affected, thus the shooter was better off using their strong hand to accomplish fine motor skills. It made sense at the time, but I am not sure that it would apply to a competitive shooter that practices and practices reloads with either hand, especially if the shooter was experienced enough to deal with the stress of the match. So bottom line, I tend to believe it is whatever the shooter has practiced and has developed his skills in. But what the hell do I know, I'm a C shooter.
  13. Had that happen once with a Glock shooting some older Federal factory hollowpoints. The rounds were old duty ammo from the 90's that had been in my gunroom (inside, climate controlled). The explosion blew out the mag, blew teh base off the mag, I never found the extractor, but I did find the base of the cartridge. It was the old Federal "FC" headstamp. I examined teh remaining ropunds of teh same type I had and deiscovered that some of tehm that had been set back from being previously chambered. I am of the belief thatteh kaboom was a combination of thin/weak FC brass and bullet set back. My new rule was to throw out all Federal FC headstamp brass, and after a duty round is chambered, that roound goes into teh recycle bin for the bullet to be pulled. As a side note, I sent the gun to Glock since it was new. they checked it for hidden damage and replaced all the small parts.
  14. I.ve had several Savage rifles with Choate Stocks. They work well, but are heavy. the best replacement I have seen for the Savage is the XLR Evoloution. It works really great and includes a built in magwell/bottom metal to accept removable box magazines. they are expensive though. The Choate is worth the money. I have had both the Ultimate Sniper and the Ultimate Varmint and found that prefer the Varmint to the Sniper. Also, with the high cheekpiece attached to the stock, the bolt cannot be removed without detaching the cheekpiece. I have taken a Dremel to several in order to customize the feel of the pistol grip.
  15. The first carload were tourists. The tag was from Connecticut.
  16. 185 grain Precision Moly, 5.0 grains of WSF, COAL of 1.185 for STI. 185 grain Precision Moly, 4.7 grains of WSF, COAL of 1.140 for Glock with Lone Wolf Barrel I like WSF, but keep in mind it is reverse temp seisitive: the hotter the ambient temp, the lower your velocity gets.
  17. Just got home from working Hurricane Isaac in Biloxi. The last couple of days set a record for stupid people and dumb questions. There I was (the beginning of every war story, parked side ways across the street that intesects wtih Highway 90 in Biloxi. All four sides of trhe SUV are lit up with blue strobes. The water from the Mississippi sound is breaking over the east bound lanes of 90. It is raining so hard I can't see the push bars. A sedan pulls up with a man, his wife, and two small children. AFter I get out into the rain and tell him the road is closed, he asks why. I turned around and looked at what were about 6-8 foot waves and for once in a 30 year career did not say what immedately came to my mind. I politely explained about hurricanes, states of emergency and curfews. I no sooner got back into teh police car when here came another, and another, and another......... I am sorry to say my answers got a little sarcastic. One of them will probably complain to teh zone commander. Waitm a minute, that's me. Survived another one.
  18. Man, I can't get away from computers. Can't even go shoot a match anymore without being haunted by those things. The machines are taking over!
  19. BE, have you ever listened to Rhapsody? I belived they are from Italy. Try "Keeper of the Dragon Flame."
  20. I'm pickin' up a good vibration.........
  21. Mat a quick question before I order a slide. Gary natale e-mailed me and advised me to order my slide with any cuts I wanted already done as that would save me money. Is there a difference in a bull barrel slide and a bushng barrel slide? shooters connection has a 5" tri top slide with both sight cuts on it. do I just order a bull barrel? Thanks, Bro.

  22. Short dustcover, only lightening was tri-topping. A Bar-Sto match bushing barrel with a NM busning was fitted before I got it.
  23. 1984 Colt Gold Cup Stainless, checkering everywhere, single port comp, ambi mag release, Wichita rear sight, front of the slide has been narrowed, and it has "Scorpions Stinger Engraved on both sides of the slide. I bought it cheap about three years ago because I thought it was cool. It shoots very well, but I have no idea who built it. Several of the "older" shhoters looked at it and some say an 80's Clark, some say Wilson and one guy said Jim Hogue (not sure if the spelling is right). But it is still cool even if the 'smith is unknown.
  24. Ysterday I was at Mat Price's and he pointed out what appeared to be a crack in my slide. Sure enough, the crack went all the way through. I had acquired the gun used, and it had been owned by at least two persons prior to me. I have put about six thousand 168-170 PF loads through it, with the only malfunction being two failure to fires because of high primers. I e-mailed STI, and they qucikly replied that although it appeared as if teh gun was puchased as slide and frame and fit outside of the facoty, for me to send them the slide and they would replace it with a slide that was in teh same configuration as it originally left the factory. Pretty good warranty, huh? I'll post some pictures I have as soon as I remember how to reduce them in size. OK, figured it out. Now to decide whether to wait for new slide and get it fit, or to oreder a new slide, or slide and barrel, and get them fit. I need a second Limted gun anyway. Maybe.
  25. It's happened to mer several times. Just think of how bad it could be if you did not have the toy fund! AS fun as they are, toys are not eh most important thing in life.
