  1. Exactly, When you wear the shoot me vest anywhere outside the IDPA match, Are you really carrying concealed? Especially when worn with the an NRA hat(my favorite is the red ones). Might as well wear a flashing Neon arrow that's announces: "Dork with a gun".Saw one guy at the BJ's the other day with that exact get up on. I'm not exactly going to walk up to him and challenge him to a quick draw contest, but he has to be right every time dressed like that. I think he is impressed by the clothes and thinks he's a deterrent. Mutually assured embarrassment.
  2. I bought a used bladetech and it came with a free 929.
  3. I have two of them and I get a big kick out of not picking up individual 9mm shells. They have their limitations, but I try not to dwell on my poor marksmanship.
  4. Take the cylinder off the yoke and double check that the ball detent groove isn't overly deep. I have two and one had this issue.
  5. You're shooting a .452 in a Casull which is an important thing to point out. That's not exactly great information for folks shooting a .451 barrel. There can be pressure issues. I've been to matches where idiots have blown up Glocks playing with Long Colt bullets. One the guy was okay but shaken up, the other sustained cuts to his hands. Just a thought...
  6. Nobody has any experience with caliber conversion? I curious if you absolutely need the whole kit. Thank for any input.
  7. Maybe you don't shoot in any kind of confined space. Buses, shoot houses, covered positions, etc. I have RO'd AR's and .38 supercomps in all those places. Maybe you are right, but I definitely think the idea should be announced ahead of time. Especially since it's idpa and folks are expecting mouse fart loads. I'd double plug if I were going to run a boomer on the clock. I'm not as brave as you are apparently and as I age there is less and less that I don't protect my hearing while doing. If it were a surprise to me as an RO, I'd stop the shooter on suspicion of unsafe ammunition and let someone else run him for his reshoot later. The .460 is an awesome, by the original definition, cartridge in that you can see the shockwave. I have had occasion to fire a .454 without plugs one time. I missed the deer I was shooting at and had the correction information right there, but it physically hurt enough that I let the deer go.
  8. I'd be sure to advise everyone else who might be interested in coming of your intentions. It's highly unkind to bring such a barking cannon to a match and not have people forwarned. Someone could end up with hearing damage from insufficient ear plugs. Be prepared to paste your own targets. For fun, why not load it with black powder? You'd get an earth shaking boom at a frequency much more powerfully percieved, but friendly to the ears and no threat to the steel. I once shot at a turkey with a .460 S&W. I had on electronic earmuffs and had forgotten about that fact and failed to warn the other two hunters I was with. I was instantly unpopular and had to help two pissed off people up off the ground. They had doven for cover when the gun went off out of shock and a belief that it had exploded in my hands.
  9. Is the P320 like an M&P where a .357/.40 and a 9mm can share the same slide? What is actually required to change from 9 to .357/.40? Simple barrel swap? Or are the springs different? Thanks!
  10. Cowboy shooters may have a hard time making minor Dream on, they have 16" of barrel to use. Thanks for the well thought out statement. I don't have to push a .38 or .45 hard to make minor. I can also knock down steel that 9mm can't. The reloading time for some will be slower, but with some shooters having a preshoot routine bordering on delay of game/"I'm aging in place here" we can afford to hang out for a bit so someone can reload and finish the stage. It doesn't take long at all. I'd like to see the caliber list expanded to include the traditional pistol calibers that aren't box magazine fed. Not everyone wants to run an AR. I'd run my lever gun just to be different. I think it'd be funny to see the disbelief on the faces of the peanut gallery.
  11. Anyone know if these are still falling apart after a few years? I am looking to put a pad on a pump shotgun, but will skip this brand if they are still turning into gooey trash after a few years.
  12. There is something to be said for a revolver that works. I personally have ZERO interest in anything that only fires Federal primers. That to me is a finicky gun that is only as good as it's primer supply. The ability to shoot Winchester or even CCI just makes me happier. Claiming reliable and Federal primers only in the same sentence as 3 and change trigger pulls is laughable. That's a paperweight that makes noise for a hiking stamp collector on the weekends.
  13. It's cold out and I don't want to hang around freezing playing hiking stamp collector that happens to shoot for three minutes every six hours. Let them have my spot in a match. A match where I must preregister makes me think twice about shooting it. Sounds crowded, which sounds slow, which sounds like a day better spent practicing off the back porch where I can shoot for six to eight minutes and then go warm up. As far as crashing an idpa match, come up with a five digit number over 45000 and put an A in front of it. Put down MM or SS in whatever division you want, say something tactical in passing, make a comment about shooting hollowpoints on the three and seven yard line at an indoor range. Cue circus music....?
  14. You might try the case trimming idea, it's fast with powered adapter and a drill motor. 9mm is also not a bad idea for cheap cases. Super and supercomp and TJ are all cool cases to play with. Supercomp makes the most sense to me as the cases design allows for the strongest moonclips. TJ is not as readily available so maybe it's even better, but worthless to pursue IMO. I used to shoot 9mm bullets in speedloaders for idpa in .38 special cases. It was plenty accurate for minute of brown circle and square. Currently I am trimming .45LC to ACP length and enjoying the heck out of it in single actions during the cold weather. The experts will all nay say that .38/.357 is good enough or that you need to slug your barrel and run this bullet or that bullet. They may be right, they may be crazy, but it is you who decides how to spend your money. Not them. Do what ever makes you happy to shoot the revolver. Feel free to PM me about case trimming or .38 SC in moonclips. Have a great day.
  15. Technically, it's 4 gun!And you have to aim or else you look really stupid getting a five second penalty for missing a huge target up close! Depending on barrel length and bullet weight you can really dial up a combination that indexes very well, but you should still aim. You should also put plenty of powder in the cases. You want a definite ring when you make a hit!
  16. It doesn't come cut for clips. The charge holes are recessed and not chamfered.
  17. Who knows? A lot of people are big talk about revo online and no show at matches or no talent.Speaking of which, I just got my posterior handed to me at an idpa match by my lack of preparedness. Practicing hard until I get back to decent mental focus and not giving matches away. Then I'll TRY to continue the trend and not further disgrace my revolvers.
  18. I'm blue in the face from saying this, but the Hearthcos are worth the money. TK is also worth the money, but I have a little more loyalty to Dave since he made me some cool clips a few years back. They were special order to be as strong as possible and have survived all the semi-intelligent/conscious/auto shooters. I believe that these two are the only options if you're serious. Otherwise get the Tupperware clips and leave them where they fall.
  19. Seems like it would be easier to make power factor in a longer barrel. Seems like a lighter weight longer barrel would give transition speed and sight radius. Seems like I put too much thought into it already. 4" or 6.5" for me. 5" is worthless.
  20. I dislike the retention of ammunition rules. As a revolver shooter a tacticool reload is great if performed in a lull, meaning off the clock in competition or after I'm sure the threats are forever neutralized. All combat reloads are going to be big boy rules and done as fast as possible to avoid being overrun. Empties and loaded ammunition in a handful is going to prove just as impractical to reload into the gun as a partial moonclip in any hurry. How about the reloading behind cover theory? What if cover is more than three seconds away? What is the problem with loading all eight in an eight shot revolver? You expect me to load two clicks just so it's fair? Why not state six shots prior to a reload? What does barrel length matter? The holster rules will take care of any advantage a long barrel creates. I never had to fit in the box in the first place. Why can't I carry two (or three?) single action revolvers and draw and fire them simultaneously? They let me do it in SASS and ITRW. It's totally practical, just heavy and the reloads are something for me to worry about. I'm stuck with that bill ITRW.
  21. If you are neutralizing the targets as you go...essentially you can fall out of the position, but the can of worms is: do you get a cover call if you miss one of your hits on a target? Technically, it was not neutralized prior to you exposing too much of thyself to it.
  22. I shot idpa first and never shot USPSA until I was heavy into ESR. I liked the fact that I got to shoot more and reload more. I found out that I was not far off the curve of the other revolver shooters until it came to tight shots or Classifier stages. Then I was suffering. I was really at my best shooting ICORE, USPSA and idpa all with the same gun and holster. 625JM with Safariland custom fit holster. I used shoot a moons at first and then began to use north mountain moon clip holders. I have since become an eight shot revolver guy and thus have no place in idpa any longer.
  23. I got a new moon clip loading tool. The mark one hemostat. Cheap and effective. For Christmas I am splurging on needlenosed pliers with a spring in the middle. If Cliff Walsh can load em with pliers...I can too. Hearthco or TK .035 works well with Fed and Win, but like Mike said...some Win are stiff.
  24. You might want to bevel out the hogue release. I got tired of bleeding.
