  1. OK so why isn't a da/sa gun legal with a magwell is esp? You're allowed to change the sights as long as they remain Notch and post....right?? saving the ppc rail....
  2. Well...If you stole it from Randy...we should call them Apexized then...right? Randy Lee is an awesomely talented gunsmith and a great gentleman to deal with. His products are very high quality. I used to dislike the competition firing pin favoring it for the duty firing pin, but have learned it works exceedingly well for small primers.
  3. We will win revolver. We are the best in the world at wheelgun. We have Josh Lentz and Cliff Walsh and Matt Griffin. What have they got?!? Crickets....
  4. No. Quite reasonable. Your match....have the guys run it whatever way you like, even like a national if you so desire. If it were my match and your credentials were falling out of your pockets next to your sense of entitlement, I'd kindly ask you to find another squad. That's all. We know the rules. We follow all the rules, but we bend some nonsafety rules for new folks to keep it fun and ease them into the fold. I don't need or want to make A,M,or GM with charity or cheating. I also won't abide a posterior discomfort for several hours of my free time that I am enjoying with folks of similar mind. We aren't changing the times...just having good ones.?
  5. Yeah I don't understand whether 9x45 is on my side or being shot at me...pun intended? I also find Sarge's post humorous in that in asking for clarity he doth add to the mire of the confusion.? I don't like the people that are super rule nazis at a level one. I don't think safety should be compromised on...ever. I think people that complain about a new shooter being given leeway and then take ridiculous amounts of time to make ready for an effectively C class run are poison to the sport because they slow down the match, range lawyer at every opportunity, and irritate the volunteers. ? If I'm there running a stage I will be fair and afford all shooters an equal shot at the stage. I will help a new shooter through the stage and ensure that they have fun while being safe. Once they catch on, then they're on their own. Don't give me a hard time about it, I just want to see people having a good time and a laugh now and then....usually when I'm shooting.
  6. That's awesome! I ran a jframe long before it was legal as SSR and half of my thumb fell off and had to be duct taped back in place to soldier on. My PPK/s once claimed a squirrel at some thirty yards. In recovering the squirrel I traversed a barbed wire fence unknowingly dropping the pistol into deep leaves. I proudly told my tale and tuned sheet white, when in the middle of the story, I realized the pistol was gone. I returned to the spot to find the pistol shining in the sun unscratched by some miracle of God. Holsters are the way to go!
  7. RJH, Bret was talking about my reference where Max Michel got a pat on the back stop at 2014? ProAm while blazing away with foot faults having time left on the clock and bullets in the gun. He went on to win the match. I agree with your idea of safety first in stopping a new shooter. It beats DQ'ing them two seconds later because they didn't clear the malfunctioning gun in the 180 or somehow otherwise unsafely handled the gun. I like having new shooters come back to shoot again. Good for the club and the sport. People that are taking the level one matches super seriously usually aren't good shooters and are not my desired squadmates. I don't believe in destroying the spirit of the competition by throwing out the rules, but you can gently explain them after stage for the next time and coach the shooter to avoid breaking the rules.
  8. No Mulligans. Unless it's a new shooter at a level one. Who really cares? It's a level one match. If he comes back to beat you, you both know it's hollow. If he doesn't come back because his gear hiccuped and he didn't have fun, less new blood into the sport. Top shooters getting reshoots on the grace of the officials is bogus. Stop whining and swaying officials as top shooters. I don't think it's appropriate to be a paid guy and set a bad example by being a priss, prima Donna, whiner, range lawyer, or anything other than gracious. People work extra shifts to pay to play the game. I watched a certain three gunner from Oklahoma lose his cool on TV the other night and repeatedly say "That's a BS call." The distinguished gentleman from Louisiana has had more than his share of charity calls, doubles, and has a range JD. The younger gentleman from Louisiana is also vocally discontented when he gets a bad call. What about that pat on the back stop he got at the 2014 ProAm with time left on the clock as he was blasting away on a foot fault!?! He should have been able to shoot all the remaining shots for penalties as time allowed. I thank them all for their examples and pledge to do my level best not to follow them.
  9. My equipment choices were made for me guys... I was gifted a hogue from a good friend who couldn't fall in love with it and so I felt obligated to give it a try due to his generosity, the cost of the darned thing, and personal stubbornness. After coming across a backup 929, while trying to buy a holster at a good price, I came into yet another hogue release. Well by this point it was pretty much divinely ordained that this would be my cylinder release. Thankfully, I came across the picture of how to modify the darned thing, because my thumb knuckle was taking some abuse. I am thankful for these releases beating me to bejesus, because I finally am holding the gun properly after all these years. Had I to do it over again starting from stock guns, I would have gone with the release from David Parker. His price point is better and his product comes modified for the shooter by a shooter. I'll bet you could have it made just the way you wanted it too, if you asked nicely.
  10. Over in the Jerry's reload thread...after alecmc's reload video and before JW Aguirre's reload video...there's a picture of Alec's gun and using the powers of zoom we find the bevelled edge of the hogue release.
  11. In theory one could, in a pinch, shoot .40 in a 10mm barrel. You are however banking on the gods of the extractor tension and praying that you get under the claw with every round stripped off the magazine. If not the shorter case will ride forward in the chamber and fail to fire as it headspaces off the case mouth. We could go on and talk about accuracy issues with the longer jump across the chamber to the rifling, but that is boring. I'd call up lone wolf and have them make a conversion barrel for all my desired calibers.
  12. I just use a Regular RCBS die. No trouble. Who knew?
  13. Well I enjoy stealing things from Mike....fauxmonize it!
  14. In that case I don't feel bad. You can still be awesome.
  15. I like his action job video. I begrudgingly say I like his spring contour also. I have 2 929's setup similarly and one has a Jerry spring and a strain screw. The other has the set screw and Jerry contoured ribbed mainspring. I believe the Jerry spring hits harder and does set off Winchester, but I haven't really tested them both exhaustively...yet. Both guns use Apex pins and 13 or 14# rebounds.
  16. A user on here 10mmdave has been making a similar product. I suggest you consider contacting him. Also look carefully at how alecmc has bevelled his hogue release. I have stolen this idea from him, because he's awesome, and modified my hogue releases in a similar manner.
  17. IF you are paying attention, .380's are easily detected at resize/decap. There's no effort to size them...whoa hold the phone...do not pass recap...they go in the little baggie in my 9mm brass bucket. Crimped primer 9mm ticks me off far worse. There's a solution to that too: Dewalt with a PH2 set on high speed. Now if only I had a solution for small primer .45....those people are evil.
  18. Titegroup made me decide to be a weakhand reloader one hot summer day. With 98 degree temperatures and nd nonshade handy for my ammo...life was brutal strong hand reloading. Cylinder got very hot on field course.
  19. Why does this need to be said? Why can't the reaction be included? When I think of how fast it takes me to do something I don't subtract my reaction time. They don't subtract my reaction time at the match. I'm sorry, but I just don't follow how this is a valid action to subtract the reaction time. I'm with Tom on this one...11 and 15, not 12 and 16.With respect to McGivern's records, they were on the equipment of the era which had no ability to hear the shots. Now that we have the ability to hear the shots in our timers...let's use that method instead and respect the former method for what it was.
  20. Yes, I too find it funny that Jerry needs a calculator to do his wondershooting. Subtracting the first shot...weird. I wonder if somebody could do it at 2.99 from a draw. No worries about Alphas just straight speed. It can be done I'll bet. Hmmm... That young man isn't going to need a calculator...sorry it was too obvious.
  21. Gun games from time to time...screw everything up in the name of improved attendance. 19 with a magwell is pretty fun though. Really locks the hand in place.
  22. You've never seen a PPK/s? Long before I had read your post and knew better than to be foolish enough to try it...I shot my PPK/s at half liter water bottles at fifty yards. Bracing between my knees with my back to a tree, it wasn't uncommon to hit all five bottles one for one. What's worse is we were also running .380's in a Makarov and getting consistent hits. Later I got even more ridiculous and put a full magazine into a target at seventy yards in a tighter group than a nay-sayer could with a twelve gauge. Bottom line is some people practice with their weapons and have a capability to exceed that which others know to be true.
  23. It's flat out bogus that I can't shoot a revo with a dot and hammer spur in this division. I'd do that for fun. Since its carry optics can we add a ten second make ready? Seems practical...
  24. What!!!???!! This guy is small and very fast. Who cares about Jerry once this guy gets bigger? This is awesome! Keep posting videos and let your son know HE has inspired ME to practice. #brandnewhero
