  1. I'd think the long Colt and longnbullet option is the best way seeing as the center of gravity is positive for reloading and the cases are shorter for ejection than .357.
  2. I am running everything but Remington. I have sorted the brass into four categories: Federal, Winchester, Speer/Blazer, and stuff for the M&P. Once I get enough Federal brass, I may not keep the Winchester and blazer separate.
  3. Congratulations! That always makes me giggle a little...bottom feeders on the bottom of the score sheet!
  4. Preemptive strike to keep the boogiemen in the shadows! When I make GM, folks can fiddle with revolver again. Until such time, hands off! I could count to six, and have learned to count to eight. I do not anticipate learning how to count to sixteen, although dual eight shots would be a fun time.
  5. Please, all of you incredibly smart people that "fixed" revolver, leave it the (your choice) alone. You wouldn't/couldn't/didn't listen last time, knew better, and look what you did. Apparently there weren't as many 627's waiting to play as we thought. Just stop with all the meddling. Give the equipment some stability and just leave it be. I have two 929's, am happy, and participating. I like my division and don't like picking up brass. I have major guns to go back to also, but what's done is done. We bumped crossover numbers at the national at the cost of losing the meat and potatoes local shooters. Thank you Algonquin J. Calhoun and Superman for your contribution.
  6. The draw is an important part of the classifier. There's so many of them that slow adds up. I feel like a smooth and speedy draw helps get the gun out in a manner to allow a smooth and speedy stage. It seems to me that slow draw shooters aren't going to go any faster throughout the stage. If it takes four seconds to draw, we're looking at .75 splits and lunch by the second reload. It seems that the draw is the first thing folks want to work on so I guess they'll get to the finer points sometime around SS/EX...
  7. Thanks for the scan. Interesting read. I will go and try to console my 625 and promise it a range day soon.
  8. I love this subforum for the slips, flips, and calls. "So I only make weight when I change out parts ahead of time and inflate my magazines with hydrogen." "Yyyou are a cheetah!" "I will vacate all of my world titles." Personally, I weigh all of my carry magazines and gun twice a year. The doctor never can figure out why I bring them to the physical....
  9. Why not an eight shot 9mm hammerless with a centennial type frame. That way you ride high and there's no hammer to bob. And for God's sake maintain the moonclip spacing just like sw.
  10. So I should have no trouble shooting .356 plated bullets through a 929?
  11. I do apologize for the resurrection. Does anyone use a magazine well extension that is compatible with these mags. I am late getting on this bus and I am searching for options. I have found that my arredondo is no longer a go. Just a curiosity really, but I liked the way the arredondo worked. Never mind. I just saw they make a new version to fit it. All is well in idiotville again.
  12. I am planning on the 2016 MCC and trying to get Cliff and John Z there.
  13. idpa is a game and all games have silly rules. From a defensive standpoint, I don't guess it really matters in a .45 bushing or not. The officer's models use a bull barrel and reverse plug because of internal space issues in the slide with the recoil spring assembly. I say buy what you can shoot the best and then figure out how to carry it.My Colt Delta Elite doesn't know it's not allowed in my holster when it's time to go. Quite simply, it truly is "not for competition" with its fully supported chamber, full bull barrel with reverse bushing and GI guide rod it does not play. People believe that bull barrels have increase recoil control. I put mine in so that I would get away from the bushing for reliability. The reverse plug isn't coming out. The tabs on a bushing may break. I'm shooting very stout 10mm loads in my gun so I need/want these features. Well the GI guide rod was just for simplicity in take down, I could've gone full length. "Not for competition"... Now there's an interesting term married with a shooting discipline that believes it is basing its stages off of feasible real world scenarios. Seems to me like they'd want guns "not for competition" to be used in their competition. Right? Glock, SA, Smith and SIG make lots of longslide competition pistols that just aren't suitable for concealed carry, but they are idpa approved for competition. Folks are carrying slide mounted dots and frame mounted lights "on the street" and "in the real world," but tsk tsk....that's "not for competition." Anyways let old Bill play his game with his rules and continue selling his 1911's to folks. I hope you got a laugh out of this post.?
  14. As with every revo vs. semiautomatic comparison the CoF is the deciding factor. The magazine reload is a bit more sure on a dead run and he has an extra round. I believe the revo could hang in there pretty decently in the right hands. I have run a 625 right up with the semis to twelve and sometimes beyond if the arrays and reloads could be coordinated properly.
  15. Since everyone else was too lazy to look it up...no it's not ported. Who knows if it will fit the box. Shoot it in Extra Special Pistol and forget about it. If anyone asks say, "Robert Ray said it was." That oughta confuse and disorient anyone who would give you a problem at a club level match.
  16. "Automatics" were sacrilege in my Father's house. My first shots were taken at the age of five on a Smith and Wesson model 63. My first centerfire handgun was a Ruger Bisley Vaquero in .45LC. So in a way I never knew that marksmanship existed outside of the revolver path. I only later learned as a young adult that "automatics" also had accuracy potential, but by then it was too late. After my first moonclip gun in the mid twenties I became an elitist living in the wheel world.
  17. It's concealment. El guapo makes a point...results are gear driven to an extent. A Glock 19 out of kydex should be knocking on 2 for "good" from "tacticool drapes" concealment. Great is somewhere near 1.5. The garment ain't much of a hindrance for the high-speed guys. It's also seven yards. Come now, let us engage in feats of real marksmanship.
  18. I think revolver division is classy. I spent less because I knew how to do more? How is this so? There are truly awesome people in this division that will spend much of their valuable time teaching you the ways of wonder. I am fortunate to have a few friends that are GM's and even some masters and a few gunsmiths. There is a brotherhood here that is unmatched in the other divisions. Revo shooters are generally awesome people, USPSA, idpa, CAS, ICORE... You can't find a better crowd.
  19. Wow! I saved $1300 with the DIY CarmoLee gun work? Take that Flo from progressive!
  20. Hi Seth,I wasn't referring to your toes or ego. I was talking more about the thread drift I was causing. Rock on! -Forrest
  21. Time to get on the powder blue bus! .38 is so much fun to reload. Wait until the funny looks are because you finished the stage ahead of them...
  22. I shoot cowboy action with a guy who yells yeehaw prior to taking the stage. It's awesome. Personally I just can't resist making light of the Harden up comment. Some of my best stage video has started with raucous laughter. Anyhow, we should probably leave well enough alone prior to injuring any toes or egos that may precede them.
  23. "Harden up" Show me your war face!!! What!?! AHHHHHH! THAT'S A WAR FACE! Now show me your real war face! Bbut this is my first time at USPSA. BS sound off like you've got a pair! This isn't backyard practice with your eye dee pee ayyy tactical Timmy buddies! Make ready! Ohhkay. Arrrrrrre you ready? Uh huh...nods. Standby!... Beep. Pew! Pew pew pew! Pew! Pew!...
