  1. I agree the red dot is the best! But that C-More is kind of big on my carry gun so I tried a set of the Trijicon HD sights the other day on an HK, these are really nice. Have the U in the rear sight like the Warren Tactical but have florescent paint with the tritium front sight, the rear tritium is not noticeable in normal light so it doesn't distract your concentration from the front sight. I have fiber optic tubes on the front of a lot of my iron sighted guns but don’t like the idea of fiber optic on my carry gun, figured if I ever needed to use it the rod would probably be broken.
  2. I have the check die but when I'm running 9 Major it was more trouble than it's worth. Since the 9mm case is really full it would just spill powder every time it dropped into the case. I finally quit using it, figured I ran 20 years on a 550 looking at each round and never had an issue, must be doing something right. Now since adding the bullet feeder I don't have room for it anyway. You will like the 650, nice machine!
  3. Looks like the four pounders lasted all of seven minutes but they still have one pound bottles. In the past I've noticed that powders that sell out quickly become available sporadically for a day or two after it initially sells out. I guess Powder Valley keeps some in reserve to keep from "over-booking" the initial rush. I had 8 pounds of it today right up to the point when they called me and said they sold more than they had...
  4. I guess I'm lucky... I have had one of the electronic Dillon scales for around 20 years now without any issues and it gets used a lot. When/if it ever goes out I will buy another one.
  5. Wow, maybe I should consider the Shield because I currently carry the 26 in the summer and thought it was fine. But after reading these posts I must be missing out on the Shield.
  6. 9 Major I like the looks of the new open DVC. I'll wait and see what people think of them once they come out. I might have to buy one for my backup if they shoot as good as they look.

    VP9 Experience

I don't shoot production much but will be shooting a couple of matches this year so I can use my VP9, just need to get a holster for it. This was my first HK and liked it so well that I purchased a P2000sk to replace my Glock 26 for summer carry.
  8. I reload 9 major brass all the time without any issues. I don't feel limited by bullet or powder either. I use 115, 121, 124, and some 125's. I use AutoComp, HS-6, Silhouette, and VV-3n37. All shoot well, make major and work the comp. The only real difference I see between 38 Super and 9 Major is the price of the brass and feeling like you need to pick it up. Life is full of choices and just because my choices are different than others doesn't mean mine are better or worse than others.
  9. No problem with my thin framed STI holding the C-more. Making it thicker and heavier would be a pro?
  10. I agree with others, ditch the powder check get a light and eyeball it.
  11. I used Winchester exclusively until the primer shortage a couple of years ago. CCI was about the only thing you could get if you could get them. Started using CCI and haven't had an issue with one yet in any of my guns. I still have some Winchester but I've been buying CCI mostly because they are a little cheaper.
  12. Not planning on it at this time. If I did this commercially I probably would but I can keep up with my own.
  13. Did you ordered the auto drive option? No just the Case Pro with 9mm & 40 dies.
  14. I ordered mine 11/28/13 and received it 11/21/14.

    VP9 loads

I've got right at 1000 rounds through mine running 147gr at 133pf without the first hiccup.
  16. I know what will be on my Christmas list next year!
  17. Same here, if you want to play you have to plan ahead. I ordered powder back in March and it's just now starting to show up. What killed me is I built a .22 race pistol last year for steel and went crazy trying to find ammo for it. That's what I noticed with a lot of guys getting into the shooting sports and reloading the past few years, just trying to get started and build enough enventory to get through a season. I think once powder becomes more available there will be a lot of others stocking up or hoarding as some like to call it. I know I will be picking up more .22's this year!
  18. A buddy of mine said he saw a bunch of it at a gun show this past weekend in Indiana so it must be trickling in.
  19. Are you up and running yet? The 650 is a great machine, I started out on the 550 and still use it for smaller batches of ammo for my wheel guns but for 9, 40, and 45 the 650 is tops! I added a MBF to mine last summer for 9 Major and will probably get the conversion parts to run 40 this year. Take your time and get to know your machine, don't force anything and you will be fine. Since this unit automatically advances you may want to empty all stages if you have a problem with one station until you get more comfortable fixing malfunctions and getting all the other cases in the proper sequence. Good Luck!
  20. You have a lot more patients and time than me. If it was that much work to make my Edge run consistently I would be looking for a different gun. I used to run my .40's through a U-die even though they would function just fine in the mag and gun without having to do that but they wouldn't always pass the case gauge. I needed a CasePro for my 9 Major and went ahead and got the 40 die with it as well. Now I don't use the U-die and everything passes the case gauge. I hope you find an easier alternative than what you are doing now, good luck!
  21. I used to run a Dillon die followed by the U-die thinking it was easier on the brass. It worked very well but not 100%. Now I have a CasePro and roll all of my range brass I also removed the U-die and they all fit the case gauge now.
  22. I haven't read through the 30 responses but the bag I use is the Shooters Connection Tournament bag. Ran it 4 years now every weekend and still going strong. I purchased a shooters cart last year so I may go down to the next size smaller but it will be another SC bag.
  23. I've had it on backorder from 3 different suppliers since March, still waiting. Luckily I had 8lbs of HS-6 to get me through the rest of the season.
