  1. Finally got a call last week that my unit was getting ready to ship, ordered it November 28, 2013! Tracking number shows expected delivery tomorrow. I'm going to be busy this weekend...
  2. The only time I have ever had to pay to get a part replaced was when they had to replace my shell plate and platform. See original post for link to that incident. Shipping was fast on that too once they got the defective parts.
  3. Just thought I would pass along a positive experience with a part replacement on my 650. A while back I had a complaint about having to pay to ship parts back to Dillon before they would replace them. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=200149 This past Tuesday I pulled the cover off of my 650 and noticed the indexer return spring laying on the bench beside the loader. Sure enough when I pulled the handle the auto indexing didn't work. I noticed the plastic pin on the ring indexer had broken off. So I looked up the part number and gave Dillon a call. Was on hold for a good little bit, I think I was 14th in line. So while I was waiting I put my phone on speaker and started tearing the press apart. Shortly after getting the broken part off they answered the phone. Within just a minute or two I was told a new part would be on its way, this was 4:00 eastern time. I was surprised when I got the mail Thursday afternoon that the part was already here, can't beat that for timing and this repair didn't cost me anything! I did notice the old ring indexer was a gray plastic and this one is more of a tan color plastic, hopefully it is a more durable part. This is what I'm talking about... What color is yours?
  4. Thanks for the link Bamboo, just ordered a bag! Had problems with their online ordering, kept getting internal failures but after a couple of calls to them I finally placed the order the "old fashioned way", over the phone.
  5. Mine will be 10 months in a few days. Talked to Mike the other day and he said I should be close...
  6. Put them in the fridge overnight and then run them across the chrono. That will give you an idea what they will do in colder temperatures.
  7. Ordered mine back in November of last year, if I ever get it I'll let you know.
  8. Make sure your sizing die is adjusted properly. It should just about touch the shell plate. That will allow it to size the case closer to the head which should help remove the bulge in the brass. You crimp should only be enough to remove the flare.
  9. Data can be resent by holding the Rev button for approx. 1 sec. It will then resend either the last shot or the entire string of fire depending on the settings you opted for. That's interesting... I'm hearing a beep on the ShotMaxx but not seeing the data on the iPhone. If I continue holding the send button down on the ShotMaxx the ShotMaxx continues to beep about every second but still no data transferring. I'll have to experiment with it a little more, probably doing something wrong. UPDATE: It was something I was doing wrong. Unpaired the two shut Bluetooth down on both, turned Bluetooth back on to the ShotMaxx simulated a couple of shots and hit REV button. I then went and paired my iPhone to the ShotMaxx and hit the REV button and it went this time, in fact it would send each time I held the REV button so something was out of sync the first time I tried. Thanks for the tip!
  10. Mine is in the garage. It's not exactly climate controlled but do have some heat and A/C out there. No problems with rust, been in this house for 15 years now. Old house was setup in a detached garage for around 10 years or so and did notice some corrosion on dies that didn't get used much.
  11. Same here! My Dillon die wouldn't size my 9mm case small enough to keep a Montana Gold bullet from sliding down in it. No problems with my Lee full length sizing die or my U-die. Guess we both got out of spec Dillon dies.
  12. Worked a little with the ShotMaxx Trainer yesterday. There were a couple of times the shots didn't transfer from the ShotMaxx to my iPhons 5s. I'm guessing my iPhone wasn't ready, is there a way to send the data again? Other than that it sure beats having to write everything down and then try to interpret what you wrote later. I'll get a chance to try the ShotMaxx this weekend on both a Steel Challenge match Saturday and USPSA on Sunday. Don't get much better than that on a weekend!
  13. Take a look at this... http://www.brazoscustom.com/magart/0811.htm http://www.brazoscustom.com/magart/0609.htm
  14. Thought I should update my last post... You got to get them drivers installed! Evidently my computer didn't get the driver installed correctly during my initial setup but once I got that figured out flashing my ShotMaxx ran like a champ. Ran the ShotMaxx against my P.A.C.T. timer with Spy mode activated and once I got my reaction time dialed in, it was right on the money. This is so much more convenient wearing a small timer like this on your wrist rather than a full size one on your belt. Wasn't any matches around me this past weekend but it will get a workout this coming weekend. I just purchased the ShotMaxx Trainer today and looking forward to working with it later in the week. I think this will be a great tool to track your progress with, plus it beats writing it down someplace and then not being able to find it later. Overall I have been real pleased.
  15. Haven't tried it on a 1050 but on the 650 the MBF powder funnel is a lot better.
  16. I started with a 550 over 20 years ago and still have it although don't use it as much as the 650. There is a world of difference in the two machines if you add a case feeder and a bullet feeder! But the truth is if you do small volumes of reloading the 550 is just fine and at times can be more forgiving. If you do larger batches of reloads the 650 is the clear winner. Since you already have a 550 I would strongly consider the 650. If the price is the big stopper buy the basic unit and add to it later at least you would get auto indexing and an extra station over the 550.
  17. Just received mine yesterday from Shooters Connection. This thing is fantastic and really convenient having it on your wrist. Shot a few rounds comparing it to my full size timer in spy mode, pretty close! Need to play with the other features today. Still haven't been able to connect it with my Windows 7 PC yet it says it can't find the device. I'll have to work on that some more today.
  18. I never noticed on Mr Bullet Feeder's website instructions not to use cast bullets in fact this is listed under the FAQ; If you are loading jacket bullets, you will seldom need to clean the system. Over time, a light coating (or patina) of copper will build up on the collator plate surface and slot walls and should be removed. This copper coating increases friction between the bullets and the slot walls and might begin to cause occasional collating errors. When you notice a significant build-up of this copper coating, clean your collator plate. Dont use any strong solvent that will interact with the PVC material that the plate is machined from. If you are loading cast lead moly-coated bullets, you will find that the moly film deposited on the collator plate is actually desirable and may be left on the plate. When using cast lead wax-lubed bullets, you will most likely need to clean more often. Wax may also build-up inside the dropper tube as well. We have found that a light coating of powdered mica applied to the bullets will greatly reduce the wax build-up and increase the interval between cleanings. Powdered mica is commonly available from shooting supply stores. Reloading in a relatively cool environment will keep the wax harder and will help a great deal. Although NO lubrication is required on your new bulletfeeder system, if you choose to lubricate to any of the components, we suggest a spray-on type dry Teflon film used sparingly.
  19. You'll get the hang of it in no time! Congratulations on your purchase. The 550 was my first press, in fact I still have it but doesn't see that much use now with my 650 mounted beside it. I do like the 550 for working up new loads, loading rifle cartridges, and at times I even run it as a single stage press. It is pretty versatile.
  20. You may have a magnum powder bar as well for large rifle calibers.
  21. From everything I've read it does fine with the coated bullets. Some have complained about the lube on the lead bullets but I think even those will work. All I have ran are jacketed 9mm through mine so I don't have any first hand experiance.
  22. I hope they got some Silhouette, WAC, or HS-6 in too. I have had them on back order since March!
  23. Caliber conversion kit and dies, yes. If funds are tight I wouldn't buy the primer quick change or extra powder measure. On the 650 none of that is hard to change.
