Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. 357454 my 929 has a red dot and GP iron sights so can’t compare. I mainly shoot steel challenge and Bianchi plates. I can grip the GP a little higher stronghand where my thumb is pretty close to stock release.
  2. 357454: Within couple of months I received my new 929 back from David Olhasso with his competition package and then bought a new Ruger Super GP1009mm. I have been shooting for quite awhile not rated but used to be a Tool and Die Maker. The chambers are tighter on the GP believe they are true 9mm chambers compared to the 929 depth from ejector GP .670/929 .710 At chamber throat step GP.381/929.385 throat on GP .3585 the barrel on the GP, my 38 357 range rod will pass down the barrel the throats and barrel line up nice using the rod. That’s fine with me since I can shoot .358 bullets on both. I have not had a headspace problem on the GP. As far as loads go if you use .355 to .356 bullets your fine but I am shooting .358 poly and .357 jhp in the GP. Loads pretty good with .357jhp but .358 poly bullets I have to use 105/115/125 grain loaded kinda short with good crimp and have no problem smooth loading with TK moons both revos use the same. I cannot load my 160 grain poly bullets that fit the 929 since tighter chambers, I will probably have the chambers cut a bit looser down the road. On the GP added bigbutt grip bobbed hammer and did a trigger job myself on digital Lyman got 5lb8oz 8 pull average. I polished and shimmed the trigger components. Used other springs that I ground down a bit with my lathe and mandrel. I can light off seated federals but not winchester. The pull is around .100 longer than the 929 measured bottom tip of trigger. The GP Trigger is very smooth feels light but bit longer. The trigger that Dave did on the 929 just makes me smile its fantastic his competition job is wonderful. I really like the GP I think it is a great value, course at this time it doesn’t have numerous after market performance parts as the 929 but with just a few cheap additions that I did myself I am enjoying it.
  3. I think it is a good idea. Cost would be 1/4 to 1/3 of an open 2011 with tuned mags and speed holster. I like shooting a dot better also my older eyes struggle with irons. Will be cheaper to reload than major also no chronograph in load developement. Shooting major especially with holes is painful man I can feel it in my teeth plus it saves my ears and I double plug. Be good to see how it goes.

    Picked up a VP9

I bought the HK spring kit and pliers. Watched the install video- all went easy. Mine showed a great improvement feels like high 3's to me. Worth the small price for a really nice trigger. My reset is smooth no catches and has good spring pressure on return.
  5. Try WST, Accurate No2, Solo1000 and Tightgroup. Be careful with N310 very fast powder. HP 38 is a bit slower than N320 not quite the same but great powder

    VP9 loads

Out of my VP9, I can run 3.7 of N320 with 115gr HAP @ 1.120. As of yet no failures to eject. Stock setup.
  7. Just picked up and shot my new xcal today. What a nice pistol, very accurate and recoil control is impressive. I have had them all; currently have custom open 2011 and HK VP9. Excellent quality, nice slide to frame fit. Being 2011 guy I really like the safety. I had a STI GP6 long ago and always regretted selling it- so nice to have GP again. Agree what everyone is saying about this pistol. Also, what a value, custom machining- excellent trigger- very accurate for 890 out the door. Now I need Kingman's holster btw I really like the one he made for my HK VP9.
  8. Jid2: on your slide cuts did you use an EDM machine. Sure it's been ask many times but is your new red dot still making progress.
  9. I need to drill and tap my 14-3 to accept the Allchin mount. Looks close to a 6-40. Anyone know. Thanks
  10. and out it goes! Have you tried one? we are out and I haven't been able to check on out Just got one from shooters connection and it is nicely built. Likes: tight clamp fit to the cr speed belt-numerous drill tapped holes on blue anno plate to give for/aft and height adjustment-can tilt the pistol toward or away from you-can adj tension from loose to tight my shadow fits very nice not tight at all. I also use ghost race holsters for my other guns and this thing is darn close in performance. I also like how stable it is with the tight belt fit and round pad at the bottom of the holster. For me no negatives.
  11. Are you planning on releasing locking blocks to further the lockup and accuracy. If so when? Thx
