  1. I tested my Glock 34 at the range today after installing a new (taller) front sight last week. Previously it was hitting about 3 inches high at 15 yards. I've been shooting it that way for a couple years, but only recently have been proficient enough to realize it was that far off. With the new front sight it's dead on POA at 25 yards. To add insult to injury it was able to produce a 2.5" group for 5 shots at that distance without trying all that hard. DANGIT. Now I don't have an excuse.
  2. I don't use lube on pistol brass. To clean/polish I use Nu Finish car polish. After about 20,000 round loaded I'm finally at the bottom of my first bottle.
  3. I compare my shooting performance to a bell curve. The majority of the stages I shoot are right in the middle of the curve, with results I can readily replicate over and over. Occasionally I'll shoot a stage that's just mind blowing, but trying to replicate the outcome will result in a performance that's more indicative of my current skill level (the middle of the curve). Conversely, I'll also occasionally perform relatively poorly on a stage. You have the ability to shift the curve one way or the other through training or the lack thereof. Your curve might also be in different places on different days because of variables such as sleep or stress.
  4. This is very true. Check the rulebooks before applying the grip tape...one or the other has restrictions on where the grip tape can and can't be placed.
  5. I've popped a primer while reloading...will scare the poop out of you. I always wear eye protection while reloading; it used to just be my tiny prescription eyeglasses, now it's my Rudy Project Rydons for better coverage.
  6. Looks great...love the color!
  7. Actually that's one place where a gloved hand is clearly superior -- be it in golf, baseball, football, etc. You're not manipulating relatively tiny controls with one finger in those sports, though. Pulling a 2 pound trigger (and a lot of other things we have to do to run a pistol) requires a level of dexterity that's just not necessary when swinging a stick or grasping a ball.
  8. If you're looking to shoot Steel Challenge there's no need for a holster for a 22. Start position is low ready. Bag it when you're not shooting.
  9. Just a quick followup.. isn't this the same everywhere with a resident carry permit? Not in Alabama, unfortunately.
  10. Oftentimes range policy regarding safety issues supersedes any rulebook.
  11. Love my 9mm Trojan. It has about 12,000 rounds through it and the only thing I've had to do to it is change recoil springs a couple times.
  12. Those are 2/3 scale USPSA targets. They have different scoring zones than IDPA targets.

My wife loved it. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Congrats! Hope you have a speedy recovery. Don't make whatever injury it is worse with too much activity. I'm not a doctor, and I don't play one on TV.
  15. I've bought a couple of presses from Brian and have had nothing but good experiences with those and every other transaction I have made with him. He's always returned calls promptly, and was more than happy (at least it seemed that way ) to fix an order that I had screwed up. I never hesitate to spend money with him if he has what I need.
  16. Enjoyed the new episode...much better audio!
  17. Your standing reloads look good. Work on reloading while moving...at some points in the video it seemed as if you hesitated when you should have been leaving a position because you were reloading at the same time.
  18. not allowed, but man I keep reading all kinds of issues with STIs. Are these just internet nonsense? The reason why you may hear about problems with STI's more often than that of other brands is because most folks that buy STI's are buying them to SHOOT. If some of the other brands of 1911's would make it out to the range more often you'd hear about problems with them, too. I've put 12,000 rounds through my Trojan this year and all I've had to do was replace the recoil spring a couple of times.
  19. I never found the roller handle all that useful on the 550 since you have to remove your hand between every pull to place a case. On a 650 with a casefeeder, on the other hand, it's a necessity.
  20. Cool...I've been thinking about picking up a CZ. I'll put this in my "Reasons to buy one" file.
