  1. Another SLP shooter here. I had a 930 and it wouldn't run on anything but high-brass shells. The SLP feeds everything.
  2. This happened in my 686SSR once. I replaced the spring in the yoke screw assembly with a rigid wire cut to length and it hasn't happened since. I do a weak-hand reload and don't support the cylinder while reloading.
  3. I use 3.3 grains of Solo 1000 under a BBI 147gr bullet at 1.150" in my STI Trojan 9mm. Makes ~130pf.
  4. Would we be multiplying by the square root of pi before or after points?
  5. Like Brian said, IDPA does NOT need any more divisions. If anything, scale it back to three divisions- 165pf guns (regardless of caliber) at 8+1 that otherwise meet CDP specs, 125pf guns at 10+1 that otherwise meet ESP specs, and revolver...moonclip guns at 165pf and speedloader guns at 105pf.
  6. Shooter's Connection is a forum sponsor and has them in stock for $999. Hope that helps! http://shootersconnectionstore.com/STI-50-Trojan-45-ACP-Stocked-Item-P1000.aspx
  7. An STI Trojan will run you about a grand, and is a great gun for those sports. STI also has a contingency program.
  8. "That guy" is typically a joke within the IDPA community, too.
  9. To add to what Dave said, a somewhat paraphrased version of something I've said before: "It's our job to know the rules and to know how strictly they're going to be enforced."
  10. I shoot IDPA mostly so we're really only dealing with a couple types of brass (9 and 45). At most of the ranges I shoot at we wait until after teardown to pick up brass. Anyone picking up brass during the match gets chastised pretty heavily. Fine with me, because by that time most folks are ready to go home and I get to pick up their brass too.
  11. I've never liked fruit that's been cooked/baked. If'n it ain't fresh I'll pass.
  12. We never had guns around the house. My parents weren't anti-gun...I guess they just didn't feel the need for one. I bought my first gun (a Marlin Model 60) with my first paycheck from teaching. It took me a few more years to buy another. It was an XD, and that's what hooked me on the shooting sports.
  13. If the course description states "loaded to division capacity" and you're not loaded to division capacity, and you're not limited by the mechanical capacity of the gun (such as a 9mm 1911 that uses 9-round magazines) - Yes. If the shooter missed that part of the walk-through- tough break. It's not the responsibility of the SO to keep people from breaking rules. I tell people "you can learn the rulebook, or you can learn the game one procedural at a time". The first way is much more efficient. The rulebook is on the IDPA website.
  14. I received my Salomon Speedcross 3's via Fedex yesterday after I had already left for the TN State IDPA Championship. I tried them on once I got home this evening and they are fantastic! Very comfortable, great support, and amazing traction. I ran around in the backyard and down my gravel driveway to test them out and I'm very pleased. I even wore them to the supermarket and they felt just like regular sneakers on the slick tile.
  15. I got bumped to Master in SSP today at the TN State match. So: ESP Master SSP Master CDP Sharpshooter SSR Sharpshooter
  16. The Road Glide is Harley Davidson's best kept secret. I was always put off by the looks until I rode one...then I was hooked. I hate that I had to get rid of mine (couldn't afford to keep it and shoot as much as I wanted). My longest DAY was 750 miles. "Other end of the state for lunch? Sure...I'm game..."
  17. SSP EX - 56 flat. Blood sugar issues killed me on the standards stage. I dropped a magazine during the tac-load and missed 2 headshots because my hands were shaking so bad. Ended up at 30.01 just for that stage. I had a miss on the 6-round hardcover stage and by then (the last stage I shot) I just said "screw it".
  18. We have the typical instrumentation- 5 trumpets, 4 trombones, 5 saxes, piano, guitar, bass, and trap set.
  19. I need a catchy name for a jazz band that I've started at school (I'm a high school band director). Our colors are crimson and grey, and our mascot is a pirate. Something clever that involves pirate lore is what I'm after. Any ideas?
  20. I used the targets in the OP for a lot of dryfire a while back and it got me used to indexing on the target too low. I switched to the ones in Koski's post and haven't looked back.
