  1. It sounds like you have a stock Glock trigger. Have you fired another unmodified Glock to compare?
  2. My wife ran the one in Manchester, TN yesterday. She came home bruised, scraped, and muddy, but said she had a blast.
  3. Pick one that you're willing to practice with and have fun. The 17 will allow for cheaper practice. Aside from that it's a wash.
  4. I tumble my brass for 24 hours in corn cob media and Nu Finish. This gets them nice and shiny, and I don't have to worry so much about the media caking inside the brass- 24 hours is plenty of time for the media to dry out and loosen up.
  5. Keep both eyes open, and use your dominant eye, regardless of which hand you shoot with. That way you can focus on stuff other than keeping your dominant eye closed, and you'll be able to see more of what needs to be seen.
  6. Just shoot the classifier to the best of your ability and let the cards fall where they may. The last thing you want to do is have your classification based off of a once-in-a-blue-moon performance on the classifier, especially if you plan to shoot major matches. Sharpshooter is temporary. Master is forever...whether you really are one or not.
  7. +1 At some point both of these types of movers stop, if only for a moment. A runner (a target that slides between two points, often not visible at either its starting or ending locations) is a little more difficult. It helps to have a reference point on the starting location to know the height of the zero so that you're not having to move your point of aim vertically when the target appears, just horizontally to track the target.
  8. Thanks for giving back to your community and the kids You're welcome, and THANK YOU for you service!
  9. My Chevrolet HHR Panel warps rotors like no other vehicle I've ever owned. I'm almost to 90,000 miles and have had my rotors turned a couple times already, and I'm going to have them replaced soon. From my research it's a problem with the HHR since it's built on the Cobalt chassis- heavier body than the brakes were designed for causes them to heat up faster. I love the car, but the brake problem annoys the crap outta me.
  10. You could wear cleats everyday if you wanted to. Just sayin' I'm sure you could, but why would you other than to prove a point? You're not gonna be very comfortable.
  11. Tennis shoes wouldn't be legal according to this argument, unless they have slick soles. If you go to the shoe section of most department stores you'll see that most, if not all, shoes are grouped according sport- running, tennis, cross training, hiking, etc. They all have a tread designed for better traction.
  12. "Cleats" are shoes that you put on once you get to the range because they're not suitable for wearing in the car or anywhere you're gonna stop before you get there. Those shoes, and many others like them, have an aggressive tread pattern, but are suitable for wearing all day long and on any surface.
  13. I wouldn't have tried to "Grandbag" the classifier early on and get classified as a Sharpshooter in SSP before I was really ready, only to come in DFL in SSP SS at my first several majors. If you're thinking about shooting a major go ahead and DO IT! They're lots of fun and you'll meet lots of great folks, and the more majors you shoot the better you'll get at shooting majors.
  14. Welcome! Lots of great guys in that club. Will you be at TN State or their sanctioned match in November? If so I'll see you there!
  15. Major matches typically involve travel/hotel expenses and a larger match fee. The larger investment makes me be a little more diligent about preparation. I shoot anywhere from 6-10 club matches a month, and if I was preparing my gear for each of them as carefully as I did for a major match I wouldn't have time to work.
  16. They can never get rid of revolvers in IDPA. Where else can the sandbaggers play without risk of ever bumping?
  17. Congrats! I should be getting an incremental raise this year, but no dice due to proration...bummer.
  18. I keep my 11 round mag in my front pocket, and after LAMR I chamber a round from it then remove the magazine and check the witness holes to make sure there are now 10 rounds in it. Glock witness holes never lie, right?
  19. To add to this- not all SO's and match staff are going to be familiar with every gun. I'm willing to bet that whenever someone is "put" into a division it's because the shooter isn't sure which division his equipment should be in, and whoever was working the signup table wasn't familiar with the gun and just did the best they could. On the club level especially it's the shooter's responsibility to know their equipment and the rules and to sign up in the correct division.
  20. Had a feeling that's what happened...glad you got it back!
  21. I always shoot SS minor. Who needs major when a 9mm 1911 is so easy to shoot accurately? Nice shooting!
  22. That's a beautiful tribute to one of our nation's finest.
