  1. I would just run 7.5 or 8 shot for everything. The 7.5 and 8s have plenty of pattern coverage for a full face target. I don't see it being worth it to try and load 9s for clays and 7.5 -8 for steel. I would pick a shell and use it for everything
  2. I would just use the correct spacers and followers for the 9mm as they arnt that pricy. How much bullet is in the case if it's loaded to 1.2 in 9mm?
  3. Ya I carry way less than a lot of people it looks like. Mine is 2 pistol mag pouches and no rifle mag pouch. I use an appropriate mag for the stage so no need to load on the clock. the spare mag is shoved in the back pocket and hasnt been needed yet. the only time i have had a reload with the rifle is for when we had 3GN classifiers before the local clubs dumped it and it required a reload from the belt in which i clamped a mag pouch on. Not a fan of way over loading the belt and to me 4 pistol mags plus one in the gun is way overkill
  4. It all depends if you like the feel of the trigger itself on the gun you have. Break wise, it will feel the same. It all depends if you like the glock style trigger or the smith and Wesson style as they both feel a little different when you pull them.
  5. They may or may not work depending on the gun. Most STIs like longer loaded ammo especially with the minimalist followers. If you wanna run short ammo, I would use the factory followers first and Dawson followers second. They do not give maximum capacity but are pretty forgiving as far as ammo is concerned. As for the load, I would suggest against the 180 grain and get the lightest bullet you can with the slowest powder you can. The 40 is already at a disadvantage in open as your giving up capacity as well as powder/gas volume with the heavier bullets. With 180s especially with a fast powder your basically shooting a limited gun with a dot more than a compensated open gun.
  6. I would look at the TTI spacers(similar to hardy but basically already prepped polished debuted etc and just a couple bucks more) and grams 9mm spring and follower pack. The 38 follower is too big to work with a spacer
  7. Ya once you start going below a 6 you can Definately have sun issues where it washes out in the sun on a bright day especially if the battery is a touch weak. A 6 may washout as well if the sun is real bad and at a bad position. I have not had issues with an 8 washing out
  8. They may be the same points for alphas but the Non alphas are what get you and i know I can go a lot faster if I'm willing to accept some Charlie's. The only place I see minor helping is in revolver which the 8vs 6 rounds helps a lot with 8 round arrays usually and the revolver guys are usually getting the better points as the points are more valuable than the time usually. In singlestack it MAY help depending on the cof if it's more friendly for 10 rounds over 8!rounds. The big ones are the 6-4-6-4 arrays with not a ton of space to load between them so the minor guys can get 2 positions on a mag vs 1 on an 8 round gun. In limited the difference is usually 3 rounds 20 vs 23 which makes the rounds less valuable. In open most are shooting a 9/38 at major pf so it's the same number of rounds and the major guns usualy shoot flatter.
  9. I would say use lighter bullets and don't try and skimp on power factor just because 3 gun dosent have one. A compensated gun shoots better and flatter with light bullets and a slow powder at a higher PF than it does with a fast powder heavy bullet load. As for anything you know about loads for non compensated guns toss it for compensated guns because it's totally different
  10. Once you get your index down the dot is there. It does take some dryfire draws to get your dot there every time at first. It is easier to shoot and harder to shoot at the same time. Slow fire out the dot there and pull the trigger and it hits. Now speed that up and it shows every flaw in your technique. If your grip is poor it shows in the dot tracking. It does help with irons on the sence that you will find and fix your technique flaws
  11. At this point you would loose a ton trading it I for a gen 3. Gen 4 isn't a big issue
  12. I see no benefit to it. A good stage plan beats being told to reload the gun if your being surprised by the gun running dry enough to need an app for it then you have a lot more going on in your game
  13. I don't see it as a big issue in them not pinning the grip safety as it's not a must have. None of mine are pinned and I have no interest in having them pinned as it's not an issue for me. If left workinf the buyer can pin it if try choose to
  14. Agreed....Agree as well. Hopefully it will have some distinction between targets unlike the one a couple years ago
  15. Are you shooting reloads or factory ammo? If reloads what is your PF. For major 45 14 pounds is probibally the most common go "downloaded" major ammo in 45 ie 170-175 pf. With factory ammo where power factor is in the 190s a 16 pound isn't bad
  16. If your wanting it to lockback use the factory STI followers as that's what they are designed for and work well. The minimalist followers are designed for capacity and as such your giving something up to get that to gain extra capacity. Most shooters outside of IDPA don't want the gun to lock back as there really is little use for it in uspsa open or limited as the gun shouldn't be run dry anyway. For a division outside limited or open run stock followers. If your in limited or open decide if that's worth the extra capacity to lock back. The minimalist ones can be made to lock back but any changes at all to the mag can cause them to be unreliable and fail to lockback or lock back early.
  17. Where are you getting muzzle rise when the gun recoils or when it closes
  18. If your grip screw hole is threaded all the way through you can use a set screw to remove pretravel. If not get one of these. That coupled with the JP yellow springs and the hammer tail cut off to look like As JP speed hammer works pretty well with a GI trigger and is a big improvement over stock. Another option is send it off and let bill Springfield work it over. Is it as good as a 200-250 dollar trigger no but it's a lot cheaper
  19. If they don't reload and have trouble finding ammo I would try running a factory follower or even a Dawson as I have found those tend to work best with factory ammo
  20. I don't have a gm but have a trubore with the T1. The comp works plenty well but it does like gas. I running 115s in mie at 177pf
  21. Your fine. The competitive advantage is If you applied say truck bed liner or something else with grit to the slide.
  22. For major you want a light bullet not a heavy one. A light bullet means more powder which means more gas to work the comp
  23. The difference in barrels is just a t1 vs t2 comp. a T1 works for major as well. Actually the trubore guns use to come with a t1
  24. Use 115 here just shoots better for me as my comp needs a lot of gas to work well
