  1. I don't think it will become obsolete as it just works and isn't that pricy. The fact people like to chase the newest thing doesn't make something obsolete
  2. What kind of distance do you usually shoot at at your club?
  3. You can but it may or may not make major and you really need 124/125s for this. Unlike other powders that you can keep pushing this one gets to a point and stops. In 9mm that's just about where it makes major
  4. Ya there is a different follower. The difference is spacer and 9mm follower in a 38 tube
  5. If you want them to RELIABLY lock back go factory stock guts. The grams can but as they wear they may or may not continue to. IsMI springs work too but the factory work and are reliable
  6. Are you shooting major or Minor? You really need to do both of them but as a general rule With minor you really need to go for points more often than not. With major you can take some more charlies if you can gain some time doing it. Example, partials if you can hit a fast charlie vs a slow riskier alpha if it has a no shoot next to it etc you are better to take the charlie. Same with head shots, a good fast bravo/alpha is better than a slower guaranteed alpha. On distance shots, a charlie isnt as bad if it saves time getting it. Up close, dont waste points. There really is no going for points totally or speed totally as a slow as anything all alphas in a group isnt good nor is throwing deltas all over fast
  7. Yap if you spring it lighter than factory, 40 Minor is great especially with clays. I have some for 3gun thats using 165 grain bullets and they are vary soft. hodgdon has loads on their website for 40minor which they are listing at 3-3.4 grains with a 180 grain bullet at 1.25 oal.
  8. 9mm major for me but any of the 9mm/38 guns are the way to go. If you want to shoot open you really need to load or buy the commercial Ammo meant for an open gun. Factory 40 ammo makes major but it's basically limited with a dot as your not working the Comp much at all. Also if you go 40 and decide to sell it your literally gonna have to give it away as no one is gonna want it
  9. The long guns should have chamber flags for one in them which is a big difference the pistol dosent. Even in outlaw matches I have never seen one where the pistol can be handled anywhere you choose. the loosest i have seen is the HOLSTERED pistol can be cased if it stays in the holster. They gave you a BIG benefit of the doubt as you didnt get the DQ
  10. For one, the competition followers tilt some so they are a pain to set to lock back when empty and not when only one round is left. As springs wear, that changes so it may not always lock back when you want it to and only when you want it too. Second, with a slide locked back it is easy to over insert a mag into the gun which is not easy to get unjammed on the clock and can break an ejector. this is bigger issue with the longer 140/170 mags especially with the taran style base pads ie dont extend up the mag at all. Third, there isnt really a reason to have it lock back. In limited and open the gun really shouldnt be run dry. ON the divisions where capacity is limited IDPA/Limited 10 the capacity of the aftermarket followers isnt needed so the best bet and most reliable option to lock back is the factory guts.
  11. Yap the Prismatic optics are the way to go with the etched reticle. I have a slight astigmatism and i can correct it with glasses where a dot is clear. The problem for me is I cant get a good sight picture with irons if I have glasses so shoot Irons with no glasses. For a dot, I need glasses or I have a blurry sight picture. This didnt work for 3 gun as I could choose to have a rifle dot thats clear and a blurr for pistol or a good pistol sight picture and a blurr for rifle. Went with the Vortex Spitfire and get clear with both
  12. Mine are 23 reloadable for 140s and 29 in a 170 I am getting 22 reloadable with factory base pads and grams guts. if i had to do it over again, i wouldnt run a basepad on any of my 140s
  13. Use E6000 on mine and haven't budged at all. It's avaliable in Walmart hardware section. Run a line down spacer then spread it out
  14. I am setting them up with STI tubes grams spring and follower and Dawson+1 or TTI 3mm pads. Reliable and 20 reloadable and zero issue with the gauge
  15. Replacing the top end is the MIN they should do. If it were mine it would be going back and nothing less than a full refund would be accepted. I mean there are 400 buck rock islands with a better fit than that. On a 400 buck gun ya not good but you get what you pay for. For a gun that's an assembly line gun with mim parts tossed in that should be in tolerance then ya you may have one slip by QC but come on this is a hand built custom gun there should be no slipping by QC especially to that extent. For a custom gun especially in that price range your paying for the reliability accuracy as well as the attention to detail. Accuracy and reliability as well as better fit can be had for half that.
  16. If it fits the division I have never seen It turned down and it dosent need to be the same gun. Not everyone is buying 2 identical guns in case one breaks. For open and limited my backup guns are my old glocks
  17. For major there are better comps out there with the SJC 11 pod being pretty good. For major I can run 1.145 oal with 125 BBIs that works well. In a lone wolf barrel
  18. Is the slide a 34 slide or a 17 slide? If a 17 slide with 34 barrel that's what's gonna happen. If it is a 34 slide that's different. That is an issue on lone wolf barrels as they are more suppressor barrels than anything. The SJC comp fits flush with a lonewolf barrel
  19. I have found for open if minor go 115s if major go 124 for the glocks with slow powder. Major really isnt that bad to load. 125BBI at 1.145 OAL and 6.8 of Autocomp works nice and has zero pressure signs
  20. Dawson or taran pads I'm getting 20 reload able with either in 40 and 23 in 9mm. The ones I use are the Dawson.+1and taran 3mm no issue at all with the gauge
  21. Vz has some vary aggressive grips and the come in thin too
  22. 9mm major is actually easier and safer to load than minor. I have seen what double charges do to a gun. No chance on 9mJor
