  1. Ran a lone wolf in mine and it worked just fine at major
  2. I would shoot one first at minor PF and major PF. I can say I shot my old open Glock for a GSSF match and with minor PF ammo it felt like crap. Just felt sluggish big time. It shot much better with major PF
  3. I never though about that technicality. It provides about the same if not more safety than the little blade in the middle of a striker pistol's trigger... And even with the Glock trigger safety I have never seen one checked to see that it worked either. It's a Glock it's good regardless. I can say I have seen them with a non operational safety as they set the pretravel out if a Glock with just a set screw in the front of the housing and the trigger dosent even go out far enough to catch te safety. That or there is a light striker spring and heavy trigger spring that won't reset it out the far. Usually home Jobs
  4. Shaun Hopkins had one like that for a while. Want2race
  5. I would get the TTI 3G base pad, with Grams springs and follower and either Hardy or TTI spacer. The 4G really offers on advantage as your still gonna get 23 rounds in the mag with either. For a 22 round mag, grams springs and follower and a standard STI mag with the factory plastic spacer and basepad works well and saves about 40 a mag since your not buying the basepad and spacer
  6. Ya for the cowboy belt talk with a good leather guy and they can fix you right up for pretty reasonable
  7. I wouldnt have an issue with it. Is it a super match grade upper, no. For your intended use of a fun gun and maybe dabble in some 3 gun it will work just fine. I would just add a normal full weight BCG and charging handle and run with it. Yes you can run light weight everything and spend a pretty penny. Does it offer a little benefit, yes. Is it really needed, nope. For maximim reliability, the full weight is gonna win out. Yes, tuned light weight gas systems can be reliable but your gonna have to keep them that way. Make sure it stays adjusted, the ammo all has enough gas to operate the gun in all weather(cold especially) the gun stays clean etc. the Full mass just shoot it and if its dirty oh well it will still run. For a comp the Miculek comp on the front is all I would really change on the gun. For the lower, you can take a standard factory trigger and with very minimal cost in some springs, a pretravel adjuster screw, cutoff wheel and some very fine grit sand paper your can turn a standard GI trigger a pretty decent trigger for like 25 bucks or less. I think if a lot of people were truely honest with themselves, that upper would be just fine
  8. For the mags with the taylor extentions, the best your gonna get is +11 so 28 rounds. the best mags I have seen are the older LE marked mags that were more squared off at the top
  9. Just use a 4 inch Harbor freight one here. are there better ones, yes but it gets the job done and isnt expensive especially with a coupon. For the home it works just fine
  10. They both have their merits. On an order of finish, if you just have a couple large prizes ie guns for division champ it really serves no benefit to the match as far as attracting shooters. The VAST majority of the people wouldnt even consider it when looking at the match because there is no chance and most of the matches can be pretty well called who is gonna win it within a person or 2 just off the registration list. If there are stuff to reward the classes as well then thats a different ball game.
  11. Did you have a picture or 2 of your mount? It is hard to tell without seeing the mount. One thing that can help it is to loosen the top screw of the recoil pad. Insert some cardboard from the box between to pad and the stock on the top only. Way this helps is it allows the pad to be even on shoulder. If it is touching the bottom of the pad and not as much on the top the gun pivots up on recoil and hits you in the face. The picture tells a lot. Crowding the shotgun can cause that too and is usually from someone who shoots a rifle nose charging handle who try's to shoot it like a rifle
  12. Use a 17 pound ISMI here with an extended firing pin and never an issue. Having felt what STI claims is a 15 pound spring and an ISMI 17pound I would say the STI spring is not 15 pounds. The 17 pound has set off everything and no real difference in pull weight
  13. Well there is a time and place it everything Facebook included Facebook is a great way to notify people of stuff as you can reach a lot of people easily and quickly which isn't always a good thing or appropriate. Well last night my grandmother passed away when my aunt who was a nurse was over there. Any person with half a brain would say notify the others in the family via a phone call an let them know. Once that had been done then let others know. Nope not her she used Facebook status updates and messenger to notify people. My father is torn up because he found out his mother passed away not from a nice phone call from his sister but in his Facebook alerts and read it on her Facebook wall. I found out the same way before my father called us to let us know and was barely able to e understood he was that upset. His other sister found out in a similar way. There is a reason even the police don't release names of people to the media until the family had been notified as finding out like that makes it even harder. It's amazing the lack of class people have sometimes and how much they use Facebook for everything
  14. I would spend the cash and get the Cmore with the Alchin Mount. well worth the money and just lasts and runs
  15. I run them in the locals on the non steel target stages all the time. I have yet to have a single issue with them but I am also not running an expensive match barrel with a tight chamber and a light gas system.
  16. Use a 6in 40 here with minor PF ammo for 3 gun here and it's been working well for me. Just use the limited gun I had and swap holsters for 3 gun
  17. You can do it safely as the comp had no impact on the safety as the chamber is the same regardless of what's at the end of the barrel. Why would you want to shoot it in a non comp gun? There is no benefit as you can't make major with anything other than an open gun so no capacity benefit over a 40 in limited while still making major. It's also a handful without the comp
  18. Best value triggrr on the cheap is take a milspec trigger and add a pretravel adjuster screw. If your grip screw hole is threaded all the way through a hardware store set screw works. If not order one of these. That removes a lot of the pretravel. Next Add the yellow JP springs. That will possibly cause issues with a factory hammer. For that you bob the hammer like a JP speed hammer to make it reliable. It costs like 25 bucks and is a big improvement. Removing the tool marks on trigger helps even more if your careful
  19. The Taran and hardy spacers are VERY similar. The Taran is a little more refined though in tha the edges are cleaned up and it's a little more polished. I have both in my mags and both work the same. As for attaching the follower I use something called e6000 which Walmart has in the paint section with the glues. It's an industrial adhesive that's vibration resistant and has some flex so it won't crack. I apply a line down the middle then spread it out some. To the edges. Install and the. Put the follower and spring in and a few dummy rounds to hold it while it sets. Sets in 24 hours max strength in 72. I use the grams guts and Dawson or Taran base pads
  20. Ya I use a 550 with a light and look into every case. A progressive is fine if your checking powder. I can say I have seen more ammo issues the more stuff the loader does as people tend to just wanna pull the handle and not pay attention to what it's doing.
  21. The blue for stuff you want snug but want to remove. The red is for stuff you don't want to come off or remove. I use red for attaching scope bases to a rifle, the mount to the gun on my open gun and sights that screw on. If needed to be removed just have to use heat. The key is prepping the surface an degreasing totally and then waiting 24 hrs to use. The green 620 Dawson discusses is for friction fit parts and is used for dovetail sights etc
  22. I think its fine as is. Is the 40 a better choice for limited, most would say yes as the slight capacity difference dosent outweigh the points lost in minor. Since you mentioned "budget wise shooters" what it sounds like is your a 3 gun shooter who dropped some coin on a decked out gamer 3gun 9mm since no Pf and 9mm gets you more rounds than 40 minor. Then decided to shoot some uspsa limited with it and realized it dosent work that well especially with the 2 on brown burn it down 3 gun shooting style so now we need to change to accommodate the ones who chose 9mm and if we dont make it competitive we should eliminate minor. Its all a choice no one is forcing someone to buy or shoot anything or buy or shoot competitive gear and we dont need to change the well know rules to accommodate someone who chooses to buy a poor choice for the game The rescomp are not as robust as the STI mags so you dont wanna drop them all the time especially if loaded. In my opinion the the 20 round reliable, reloadable STI mags should be the bread and butter mags. They dont need to be tweaked all the time, the springs last a decent amount of time and they dont need babied other than just wipe down if dirty(i dont clean mine just because they hit the ground). The one like the 22 rounder is one thats best used when it matters ie 22 round stage thats a very high hit factor flat out close, hose fest where you are basically on the trigger the entire time or one of those stages where the gun is loaded and they have all mags on a barrel and you can finish it with a 22 round mag and a 20 round guy cant. Use those only when it makes sense and will actually make a difference which is not vary often.
  23. The advantage to the #9 shot for skeet is there is simply more pellets out there to fill the pattern. In the small stuff is 28 and 410 there is just so little weight of shot larger shot like 8s cost you pellets to fill the pattern. The 410 is were the difference in 8vs 9 really matters. For 12GA and 20GA you have enough shot that there really isn't the difference in 8vs 9 as far as filling the pattern is concerned. As for 1oz vs 1 1/8 it's not an issue in skeet as there are a lot that use 1oz for 12 ga and even 20 ga for 12ga events. For trap if your on the 16yard line and don't ride it to the next county 1oz of 8s will get it done. A lot is knowing how the ammo patterns in your gun and knowing what your looking at and what your after. Usually the big misconception is use the loosest choke you can for skeet so the cylinder and negative construction chokes. The guns are gonna pattern best with some choke in them. For skeet bigger isn't always better
  24. For open the frame mount is the only way to go. On the frame mounts the carver needs no modification to the frame but does need a specific holster. The SJC needs frame mods but your open on what holster you can use. They both need the ejection port lowered though which isn't too bad. For a slide mount the only one that really holds up is the RMR and even those have failed. There is more movement on the dot by far with a slide mount vs a frame mount
