  1. Whew was gonna say 100yards with a slug might be a little challenging lol
  2. The tubes really don't add much if any value to the value of the gun. You are correct Purbaugh has been out of business for some time. Unlike some other products that have had production stopped there isn't any collectible value associated with the tubes. The reason they don't hold much value is if one cracks, gets damaged there is no one to repair them and they need to get a whole new tube made for the gun. The 2 big tube manufactures now are briley and kolar. Those will add some value to the set, the others won't add much if anything maby a couple hundred bucks. If it is 26 inch barrels that would definately put it at the low end of the book value and definately make it a harder gun to move simply because the trend is toward 30-32 inch barrels and even 28 is hard to sell. Since you don't plan on selling it I would say look on www.jaquas.com and see what they are selling one for to give you a rough idea of the value without the tubes and figure about that or maby a couple hundred more. It is definately a nice gun and could be shot well but if its 26in with the purbaugh tubes it would definately be hard to move these days if you ever decided to get rid of it. I say shoot the heck out of it and pass it down to kids, grandkids etc
  3. No, this is just a cheap piec of plastic that holds a single shell at the front of the forearm which should work well to throw that last shell in the chamber for the 10 round stages
  4. Does anyone know where to find the shell holder that holds one shell? It hooks between the mag tube/forearm and the mag cap or tube extention and holds one round with the back comeing right toward the shooter. I have seen one of these a while ago and have no clue where to find them
  5. Use a suddendeath 45 round mag and don't even worry about doing a reload on even the long stages. Shoot him a message and I'm sure he can hook you up. His mags are the only mag over 30 rounds that I have found that actully works 100% without tinkering with it. Most pf the people I know and shoot with have one of his mags for the long stages.
  6. Ya mine has run 100% as well. I use it on any of the courses over about 26-28 rounds to give me a few extras if need be. If it is a table start of the rifle where you have to move to the rifle pick it up and go I plan on usuing the new beta mag I just got since it conveniently props the gun up for you.
  7. Ya briley can make you extended chokes pretty much as long as you want them
  8. The federal 4 pack at walmart works just fine. I would suggest you practice and compete with the same load big match or small. If the shell works well in your gun and cycles reliability then you are pretty much good to go. You are basically shooting still targets not moving targets so alot less comes into play with that. You can keep the gun swinging through the targets but its alot different on a still target than a moving target. To make it work on a moving target you are moving the gun faster than the target and pull the trigger when its on target and the gun speed from when you think to pull the trigger to when it actually goes off creates the lead needed. On a still target you would have to almost shoot before you get to the target so when it goes off its on target. Confusing isn't it lol. So its probibally alot simpler to stop the gun for the shot. Try taking a piece of wrapping paper etc and put a dot in the center and draw a 28/30 inch circle around it. Take a tight choke and shoot at the paper to see where the center of the pattern is located at. If the center of the pattern is low you need to raise the "back sight" ie your eye up some. The easy way to do this is go to a craft store usually where they sell felt. The have 8x10 sheets of self adhesive foam that is in thin sheets that you cut out and put right where your cheek goes. This moves your eye ie back sight up just like on a pistol or a rifle. Shoot some more patterns and add more till you get the pattern centered up. If your benelli is the standard mobile chokes I can look I should still have a set of the briley chokes I had for my old beretta that will fir it if you want to try them out before ya spend the money on them
  9. They want to keep their class down because at a big match it is alot easier to win in C class than M or GM and they want to win those prizes. We had that alot in skeet when I was shooting that big time which class is based on average. There were some that would shoot the local matches or monthly targets which are just target scores you send in no competition or anything and hit low 80s and stay in about D class or even E in the 12 ga. Go to a big match and shoot to their ability and hit a 98+ and walk away with some nice money gun etc. There was one guy who did this 2 years in a row same shoot bottom class in everything for skeet yet a master class(top class) in sporting clays and clean house in probibally 4 of the 5 guns and HOA for the low class and walked away with a nice 1100 both years and about 20-30 flats of shells a year then had the balls to do it the next year. It is the same thing here it is alot easier for a higher level shooter to beat people who arnt as good as they are. What is great though is when you have a few of them in the same low class same big shoot and someone is gonna loose lol
  10. Eotech 557 with the magnifier. For the little longer matches shoot with the magifier on. For the close hozer matches remover it and run just the eotech
  11. Here it is he takes 2 magazines and joins them together, comes with a magpul follower.
  12. The suddendeath mags are definately a nice mag and hes a great guy to deal with and it will work. If it won't work he will take care of you and get it to work
  13. I had a problem with the base plates on mine when i first got them taking the extra rounds but hanging up bad if you put more than 17 rounds in them. The problem I found was there is a "lip" in the bottom of the actual glock mags. When the follower gets to it it made loading the 18th round hard and caused jams when it came past it on the way up. The fix was to simply remove that lip area on the inside of the mag and have never had any problems since and can fit a full 20 rounds with the glock loader for the last one and 19 by hand
  14. For the eye problem I would talk with an eye guy who does actual shooting glasses/lenses like the Randolph Ranger shooting glasses not someone who can simply tint some polycarbonite lenses and stick them in some frames. I get all mine from WIlliam O Willis in Fredericksburg, VA. He gets your perscrition, pupil distance etc and what you need done and can make the to work for the disipline you are shooting his number is 540-371-9245, I recommend the randolph ranger frames that the lenses interchange in, lifetime warrenty if they break get bent etc send them to him and get a new set of frames in the mail. For the open/production transition try really concentrating on that front sight. It is definately going to slow you down over what your use to in open. Its alot more jump than you are probibally use to with all the compensators, extra weight etc on the open guns. It also takes more time to align the sights than put a dot on it. Work more on hitting quality hits and less on the actual speed that you do it in. SInce your shooting minor in production those points drop off alot quicker than major and your not going to be able to just hoze as much as you can in open.
  15. For a do all gun the 391 is a good choice especially the parallell comb one. Have an adj comb put on and raise it up for trap and down for skeet/sporting. Make sure you get a 10 buck shell catcher or you will be very unpopular at the trap range. The 1100 is also a good choice for a do all gun without breaking the bank. I have a remington 1187 sporting and a 391 that I have setup for sporting clays with the wenig stocks and they are both reliable guns. I mainly shoot skeet and have a very versitle gun for that as I have krieghoff with 32 inch barrels with the 20, 28, and 410 sub ga tubes, 34 inch single barrel, and 32 inch trap barrels. The comb is adjustible and have spacers made for each barrel set, just loosen 2 screws, slide the spacer on for the barrel and the sight picture is right for each barrel. They shoot differently but the sight picture is exactly the same
  16. To make it real fun throw up a couple no shoot targets behind that pepper popper to make the shooter actually have to aim and not just hoze away at it. It will also help slow them down a little and make the gamers watch it a little more
  17. Checking the front sight and stopping the guns are common things for people new to the game. The Fiber optic hi viz sights can help with that if you like to know its there without having to actually look at it since it is bright enough to see out of the corner of your eye and still get a good sight picture. SHooting a heavy gun and using the lower body can help with the stopping of the gun as the weight makes it harder to stop and the lower body makes starting it and keeping it smooth alot easier. Shot some skeet competitions and stopped in 06 due to work schedules and not having the time to travel around for 12 weekends a summer 3 days minimum a week
