  1. Running Hs6 in mine and like it. Its dirty but for me its consistant, cheap and avaliable
  2. Gunbroker, gunsamerica and other sights have used 1100 barrels for very good prices usually especially the fixed choke ones. same for local shops pawn shops etc
  3. or add an arched MSH housing to the 1911 and get it to point similar to a glock so you can get use to the same feeling
  4. a couple fingers difference from the nose to the hand is about right. It really depends on how you mount the gun. I cant shoot a gun with a short stock and much prefer one a little longer
  5. The 1100 has only one gas port hole in the 3 inch barrel and 2 in the 2 3/4. changing the recoil spring really wont make a difference. you chould try hot loads in your barrel or simply add a second 2 3/4 barrel and use that for light loads and the original 3 inch barrel for heavy ones
  6. For a good 1oz load try the Remington 1 oz 1180 fps loads I shot a ton of them when I had trouble finding the federal paper 1 oz loads for skeet and they are soft. Any 1oz that's not hopped up is soft and gets the job done

  8. Regardless of what the blue book says. Series 1 guns sell for more than series 2
  9. For major you want the base covered so your comp wont lead up Check out the Montana gold cmj. Price is almost identicle to their cmj and has the same profile as the cmj just with no exposed lead base
  10. I shoot 2 different guns. My clay target gun is a dedicated clay gun ie k80 and have no issue picking up the 3 gun shotgun. I thinkit is more important in the clays than it is here the more the better the shooter the easier it is to pick up a gun and go.
  11. I used a couple in skeet as I had carrier chokes for the tube set and 12 ga chokes to shoot. Did that so the tubes could go in after shooting 12 ga they are nice for those especially trap shooters who rest. The barrel on shoe in case it slips off. Better a choke than barrel hit the concrete
  12. You were good I would have probibally Kept the race master locked then hit it off on the draw. Anything other than stand and draw I lock the holster especially seated starts or on the battering ram stage in Ohio where it would have been going right past the gun.
  13. The Rudy would be close to budget I got the insert and sent it off to 39dollar lenses for the prescription to be put in the insert
  14. The Rudy would be close to budget I got the insert and sent it off to 39dollar lenses for the prescription to be put in the insert
  15. Randolph ranger can accept some thick lenses but gets pricey with many. Colors as its not an insert. A lot of guys shoot them for clays And have coke bottle lenses
  16. In an open gun at major you want to avoid FMJ and go eithe JHP or CMJ(fmj with the base coated). 6.8 works in mine because im loading it to 1.145 and not 1.160. If I was loading longer, It would take more powder to get the PF
  17. Shot one a fellow shooter had. Its a nice setup if you want a slide ride sight. If your after a regular cmore, I like the one carver is building with SJC parts. With the slide ride you can use Kydex holsters, with the SJC mount you can use any of the race holsters. With the carver mount, you stuck with a modified CR speed which is the main reason I went with the SJC on mine
  18. Using 6.8 at 1.145 here with the autocomp and Montana gold 124 cmj
  19. You going through buds police supply. Being retired mil you qualify
  20. Cmore would work but I would get something a little more robust for the rifle as the cmore is good for a pistol but not so much on a rifle. Used aimpoints can be had pretty cheap or an eotech. If your looking for a budget dot, the primary arms clone of the aimpoint micro is a nice dot for the coin.
  21. Im not a fan of the large amount of non scoring area avaliable. The Colored ones they use on TV wouldnt be too bad though but thats not happening at a club match
  22. What kind of gun were you shooting? A good 1 1/8 oz load at 1145 or even 1200 fps ie 2/34 or 3 dram will help alot. The 1300 FPS stuff is hoteven out of a gas gun. A 1oz load works too if your gun will cycle it and if you choke properly dosent have any issues with taking steel down. Just dont try and track your sight up and down like you do with a handgun.
  23. Alot of people will take the 124 grain major loads and keep the powder chage the same and drop the bullet weight down to a 95 or so for minor.
  24. For open, you will get better results with something like Hs6, autocomp etc that produces more gas than the traditional 9mm minor load powders titegroup, VV320 etc. If you feed the comp some gas, it works better and gives you less dot rise. I would go with the 115s for 3 gun use and try around 145 or so for starters. The 95 grain bullets are great for fixed steel ie steel challenge but for fall down steel a 95 grain might have some issues.
