  1. I would invest in a 22 of some sort. Shoot a ruger here and the trigger job is easily done yourself for a minimal expense and the ammo is cheap. We shoot 2 runs here so a minimum of 250 rounds. The 22 ruger I have even with the red dot paid for its self pretty quick. If your missing alot then it gets more and more costly with centerfire
  2. I would replace the recoil spring with a 13/15 pound spring of your choosing, striker spring and trigger spring. They are cheap and if your not sure of the age may as well replace them. Anytime I buy a used gun I replace the springs.
  3. I had a factory trubor that hung up constantly stove pipes feeding problems all the time drove me nuts especially at a match since I was waiting for an aftec. Once I put it in, it runs 100 percent. I wont shoot a 9mm 1911/2011 without one
  4. chest carriers are fine but not really needed. I typically carry 1 spare rifle mag thrown in the back as a backup mag as I use a mag with enough rounds to finish the COF on the gun. The rifle mag has never needed to be used to date
  5. The magwell comes right off and is not needed in GSSF as there are no reloads. Much more competitive outside of unlimited were everyone has basically uspsa open guns
  6. is anything done to the front of the trigger guard?
  7. I don't even think this should be a "Stage Zero". I shoot a match every month that directly addresses this issue. Rifles are always carried slung cruiser ready (verified by the competitor & RO before the beginning of any stage) if for some reason your cruiser ready rifle hits the ground you will not earn yourself a DQ. Iv had a sling break while in a full sprint at this match. This rule is designed for multi gun because of the circumstances and stress on gear that we have no control over. IE slung rifles. Now if a weapon is dropped while loaded for any reason theres your match DQ plain and simple. I shoot this match also and Fred simplifies the rules of "safe" condition when abandoning a firearm by making you drop the mag and rack the shells out. No questions if it is safe. Doesn't matter if it is a rifle, shotgun, or pistol. Unload it before abandoning it. Match DQ if you don't. gerritm The isssue with that however is for tube fed shotguns. It really sucks to have to rack 4 or 5 shells out of your gun. Pat It does suck to rack shells out. Or shoot em all into the last target. But this is part of the challenge, round count & target count. Iv got a video somewhere where I load up 6 shells only to shoot 2. Lost a lot of time cus due to my lack of multi tasking. Now I'm constantly scanning at the end of a shotgun run so as to minimize time added. I guess but I would rather be tested on my shooting ability vs my memory. (on how much to load) Pat Time and round management are all part of 3 gun.
  8. There is a way to safely do that situation without handeling 2 guns at once. Unload and show clear and give the stage up
  9. BGSL in wilmore, KY has a gssf match this weekend. Miami has one the 4th sunday
  10. Not a dq but a trip to open if equipment isn't complient
  11. Send it to carver and give him the 65 bucks or so and it will be done right and look good. Only the slide need be sent so shipping is cheap
  12. just make sure the trigger resets all the way forward so the trigger safety engages with than combo. A heavy trigger spring and a light striker spring work against eachother when the trigger goes forward and can cause the trigger to not go all the way forward for the trigger safety to engage
  13. From what I saw the only X5 listed is the all around so if its on one not listed, then its no good
  14. If you end up not being able to get it to work and sell it I would look at the race master. Simple swap of locking blocks and its not loose at all
  15. It needs to be from an approved model. The glock parts can be added because they come fr an approved model with them ie the 34.
  16. Wasn't Matt cheely offering that as well
  17. Run a race master here because it works for both my open sti and limited sti as well as the glock backups with a block shift
  18. Cheeley did the work. The matchmaster comes lightened though from the factory
  19. I would call glock about it or go aftermarket barrel.
  20. My trubor will with the same 11 pound spring. I do have a lightened slide though
  21. Its the same lock up etc as the racemaster. The holster mount is a little different and is actually a little more adjustible than the racemaster. The plate can be removed to adjust the tension if you need it too. If your looking for just a one gun holster its definately the way to go.
  22. Went with the spartan in 9mm here, added a dawson magwell, slim VZ grips and had extreme engineering parts for the trigger and trigger job and its just amazing accurate. The factory parts for the trigger are fine but I figured I would go extreme engineering like all my others. My smith did the work at the buddy rate of 20 bucks and it breaks about 2 pounds.
  23. Use the racemaster here as I wanted the interchangeable locking blocks to swap between guns. That and the racer are both nice holsters with good retention. When its locked its NOT coming out
  24. May I ask you why trying to hit majors with small bullets is more interesting to you than using larger bullets, like 45ACP? The reason is because its for an open gun and 9mm major, 38 super, 38SC get alot more rounds in the mag in the same space. You rarely see even a 40sw in open. For a non compensated non open gun there is no need to try to make major out of anything smaller than a 40 as thats the minimum caliber for major in anything but open
