  1. Nice timing, I took my nephews to my practice today (10 and 6) and they gave it a go with a .22 conversion and the were blasting away in no time. The 10 year old wanted to try my open blaster (.38 super) because he thought the dot would be easier than having to line up the sights. One shot changed his mind He actually hit the target, but the BOOM of a hybrid gun was too much for him. I doubt they will be trading in their skateboards any time soon, but they sure did have big smiles after they got done
  2. Race holsters are overated. The draw time and guns aren't as important as leaning to shoot until you get to the top levels in competition shooting, and by that time you will have spent enough time practicing that you will be able to draw well with whatever your gun sits in. Ie. over a course of fire for a newbie your time will be generally between 20-30 seconds and even if your draw is 2-3 seconds, that extra second on the draw isn't going to be what holds you back.
  3. you can learn a thing or two from Sand Captain about staying there I'm sure
  4. You mean I can only load 2,500,000 more rounds on my press I don't think I can afford the bullets, powder, primers to wear it out for awhile. You got to love people getting tweaked out of shape with only part of the story. Dillon, Can you buy the crank, journal, mainshaft, and bearings for a super 1050 and convert your 1050 to a Super 1050? Just my 2 cents, but maybe you should make a package deal for those 1050 owners who want to make their 1050 a Super 1050. Or is that even possible? Crazyaboutguns, I think you need to check your half-cock, it might be broke
  5. If mag capacity is an issue to you (I don't expect anyone will load it up to see how many rounds it will hold) but you could always put a block of wood in the mag to prevent more than 10 rounds from being loaded (ie. shotgun 3 round plug)
  6. Not realistic or practical. Speed comes from being able to be comfortable and relaxed with what you are doing. You just need to learn to accept the recoil of 165 PF I shoot 170 just to be safe. Once you learn to accept that the gun will recoil it doesn't become such a bother.
  7. Vince, don't you know Americans do thing our way
  8. There was a 1050 on the USPSA website for $950. I have the same feeling about reloading as you do and I LOVE my 1050, and I got it used on Ebay. You could load all your ammo in about 2 days for a year easy.

J1B, So what didn't you see that you really needed to? This is a big problem for me. Sometimes I get so caught up in the technical aspects, that I forget how to shoot during a stage, that is, I forget I need to see every shot and KNOW where it went. If you remember what you didn't see last time, then you can fix it the next time. This is a good way for me to recover from stage crashes. If it were easy...
  12. There is no wrong way, I prefer to put the top edge of the sight covering the spot I want to shoot when shooting limited sights. I have shot open much longer, and for me it is quicker to put the sight on the spot I want to shoot, so I don't have to change how I aim. After using a fiber optic, I have gone back to a standard post (.09) because my I am more accurate with it, with the fiber I tend not to see the black at the top of the sight sometimes and find myself shoting over the top of plates when I kick up the speed. Removing the fiber optic fixed this immediately. For me it is easy to call the shots with the standard post, and that was worth more to me the the quick sight aquisition with the fiber, the standard post doesn't seem to be slower, but then again you have to focus harder, and I need that. I am thinking more actual time is made up on the hard shots, so if I can do those very precisely and quickly, I will be ahead of those who can't.
  13. There wouldn't be much of a point to shooting major if A's and C's scored the same in major/minor. I just can't think of a reason to shoot major if that was the way you scored it. You might end up making major obsolete, more like cowboy action shooting, where full power isn't rewarded. The IPSC motto is power, speed and accuracy. I don't like it, although I would be forced to shoot it if you changed the scoring. You will never get the people who shoot recklessly to stop shooting that way my changing the point values unless you go to the extreme like IDPA did, and then they will still probably just blaze away. The 4 for a b would make sense.
  14. But SigLady we have to take care of all the people that come to Oregon illegally to sponge off the social welfare system, it wouldn't be "nice" if we deported them because they are so opressed by the country they fled. Besides that they only account for 30% of our prison population, they aren't criminals, just misunderstood. And some people just have too many issues to work, so let's support them also. And the trees, it is better to import them than to cut them from our forests and deprive the forest fires of all that fuel. Just over tax the corporations because they are "rich" and they don't care about the little people. Just a few of the reasons that Oregon is going to hell in a hand basket. But we can still have our class 3 toys
  15. TDean, I know the feeling you are talking about and I prefer to feel it because I know exactly when to shot breaks and if I focus on feeling it I don't miss. I think it adds another part to trigger control.
  16. I think it would be a fun match, but then again I think most all matches are fun. I don't think equiptment makes much of a difference though, as many people seems to think it does, as long as it is accurate and works every time. The big problem I would see is that if a gun had a malfunction, what do you do? Do you give the shooter a reshoot or just say they got the lemon?
  17. I would guess about 6-7 seconds limited. 2-3 seconds to get to the port open it and shoot the steel, .6 transition to the first paper. .2-.23 for each paper A hit and another .6 to the last steel. This is of course assuming you could see the target all from one port and the targets are 10-15 yards.
  18. Huh, "don't be deluded" You can spend as much on a SS as a full race S_I widebody. Besides, the arms race is more a falicy than a reality. If your gun shoots a decent group, has a decent trigger, and fits you, you will most likely never shoot up to it's capabilty. FYI a gun that can rip out .15 splits vs. .2 splits in el prez will give you a whopping 3.4 points extra (and this assumes you could shoot all A's with .15 splits, which very few can, and most can shoot .2 splits) Great shooting isn't all about fast splits, it is more about making the hard shots the fastest. So enough with the "arms race" already, besides if you make it a "from the factory" class, factories will make suped up guns for IPSC ala HK, Glock, Kimber, Tangfolio, and a few more and they will be expensive.
