Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks for the input. I went with an STI paddle. It works perfect for me without dropping the mags when taking from a table. I also have a set of Wolff mag release springs on order to try the lighter springs.
  2. Because when I shot an STI with an extended mag release at the last match I did not have this problem. Mag changes were flawless without changing my grip. So why should I have to learn to live with it in my Limited 10 gun if a $20 part will solve my problem?
  3. I shoot a Kimber 45 and have smaller hands. To perform a reload I have to release my grip, turn the gun slightly, push the release then regrip. I looks like I need more length to the button but would also like an oversize button. What mag release button should I try? Mike
  4. The best place to look is down the Route 66 corridor. The traffic is a little bad but the housing is more affordable. I live in Gainesville which is just on the west side of Manassas. As far a shooting goes there is indoor at Shooters Paradise and the NRA Range. I help run the match at Shooters Paradise. Locally there are a lot of clubs that put on matches in this area. You could shoot a match every weekend, sometimes two, within an hour and a half. email me if you have any questions kimber45@comcast.net Mike
  5. I need a good plan on how to construct a door frame and support system for use in indoor IPSC matches. I need to build it sturdy enough so that the gorillas that get carried away when the signal sounds don't rip it off it's hinges. The support system also needs to be removable for storage. I have a door that was left by my builder that I will use. It is a standard bedroom door. Thanks for your help. Mike A-48887
  6. Flexmoney, Thanks for clearing everything up and getting us back on track.. I am new to the sport so I was just looking for some input from some shooters who may have been in the sport and have some experience. It seems like everyone has their own opinion on where the divisions should be. I like what Denise Minor has to say about aligning the divisions based on todays gun laws. The divisions, as they are today, seem to please everyone and work just fine. I am a single stack shooter and want to compete with shooters using the same gear as me. Thanks everyone.
  7. Jon, I don't mean to make this a b*tch session, I was just trying to get the facts on where both candidates stand on the issues and where they intend to take the USPSA. I thought this forum was called: IPSC or USPSA Questions Specific IPSC or USPSA inquiries This is a very important time for the USPSA. Elections. It will determine who is going to lead the USPSA and where they intend to take the sport because we are electing them to make the decisions for us. If this area was not intend for USPSA political questions then where should we discuss it? This discussion/thread would fall under the "and other unrelated topics". If no one discusses the issues then everyone is forgetting a huge part of running the sport. It's like having a United States forum but not allowing Presidential or political discussions. It only lasts for a short time and before we know it the elections will be over and it will be business as usual. The members run and elect the USPSA President and board. The members need to be informed and get involved with not just the fun part of the sport but the administrative/political side also. If you are not interested in who is going to run the sport or what they are going to do with it then I appologize for wasting your time. Just my two cents worth.
  8. Is it Mike's position to combine L-10 and Production? Why not Limited and Open? What is the reasoning behind the argument? I'm just trying to get some of the facts before I make a decision. To me it seems that after the USPSA added the Production and L-10 classes it sparked more of an interest for shooters with, let's say, a Glock or an 1911 single stack to participate in the sport. They no longer have to go out and compete with people shooting SV's or STI's with 30+ rounds in their mags. They can now go out and compete with shooters using the same stock equipment and not feel inferior. I'm not questioning Mike's love for the sport nor his spirt. Hell, the guy has a competition gun with his name on it. That says it right there. But does he have what it takes as a leader to further the sport of practical shooting, to make it fair to everyone? I don't personally know either of the candidates but I don't want to be pushed aside into the "everything else but us blasters catagory" because I shoot a 1911 single stack and not a high dollar, high capacity blaster either. I like the divisions the way they are. I emailed Michael Voigt asking for clarification on the matter. I will wait to find out his answer. Here is another one for everyone. Who could make these changes if the new President decided to do it? The rules committee? Would it have to go to a vote of the members? And why would anyone want to take away divisions anyway? Who does it hurt? Surely not Limted, Open or Revolver division shooters; only the Production and L-10 division. And possibly the USPSA membership.
  9. I was curious if anyone has any comments on the two candidates? I recently came into the sport because of the new divisions which allowed me to compete with my single stack Kimber and not have to put out thousands of dollars on a Limited or Open gun. Here are the answers to a Division question asked to Michael Voigt and Denise Minor by Front Sight Magazine: What does this mean for the sport?
  10. I compared it to a new ejector and the ejector in the gun is in perfect condition. It does appear that the spent round is sometimes not hitting the ejector. I played with it some more with empty cases and duplicated the problem. It looks like the extractor is turning just a bit which is allowing the case to rise up as the slide moves back and the case misses the ejector. If I look at the back of the slide I can see that the extractor has turned and it will jam. If I line up the extractor properly the round hits the ejector every time.
  11. Lately my Kimber Custom II has been jamming. The spent round is still held by the extractor but will not eject (still straight forward, not stove piped). The extractor and ejector seem fine. I am down to the spring possibly being to heavy for the reloads and every once in a while it will not fully cycle the gun (at least that is what I am thinking). I am using a Wolff 16lb. standard spring. My loads are 4.7 grs of V V N320 behind a 230 gr Zero RN bullet. Velocity is 768 fps making 175.5 PF. This happens with both a clean and dirty gun so it is not the dirt factor. Out of the 10 stages at the Summer Blast this weekend the gun jammed 8 out of the 10 stages. Some stages I had multiple jams. I'm also using mixed headstamp brass. The gun is only 6 months old and has about 3k rounds through it. When I compared the 16lb spring from the gun to a new spring it was compressed about 3/4 inch. Any suggestions? I am going to try a Wolff 13lb. variable and 13lb. standard to see if this does anything. Thanks, Mike
  12. Rhino, Are you using shock-buffs? My Kimber choked three times while using shock buffs. I removed the buff and have had no problems since.
  13. I am looking for a mag well to put on my Kimber .45 that I shoot in Limited-10. What are some of my options? I want something easy to put on and take off if I need to. I have found the following: Barrett 1911 Auto Magazine Guide by Clarks Wilson Combat 1911 Auto EZ-Loader Any comments? Suggestions? Thanks
  14. I shoot 5.5 grns of V.V. N320 with a Berry's Manufacturing 185 gr. HBRN. with an OAL of 1.260 in Limited 10
  15. I love the bullet. I shoot them with 5.5 grs of VV N320 at 1.260. Never had a problem. Berry's Manufacturing makes the bullet. Berrys Manufacturing
