How many different brands (pistols)

Recommended Posts

Another thread got me wondering about this. How many different brands of pistol have you shot matches with?

In no particular order, I've shot matches with six that I can think of: Beretta, Colt, Glock, Smith, Springfield and STI. Lots of people have to be way over that...let's hear it.

Not that many, actually. I tend to shoot in matches my carry gun. And I carry only what I know works. Staring back into dim memory, I have shot matches with:

SIG

Wilson Combat

Les Baer

Glock

A custom Makarov (hey, don't laugh, I won a plate match with that thing)

Nowlin (one time, for an article).

Colt Gold Cup

Colt Python

Colt Govt.

Brief run with S&W 25-2

Para (my first "open" gun built on an early Para frame).

Followed by several generations of Para frame kits built into open guns

Glock 17 and 34 (I was running a fever at the time.)

S&W 625 (Fever was worse)

Now sticking with the STI Hardy gun. (Fever broken thanks to Tami-flu.)

Sorry, I laughed at that one...not as much at the gun as your comment. :P

Some pretty cool lists folks have going here....thought it might be interesting. R,

I actually really enjoyed that one, taking my little double action first shot Makarov and beating all the guys with Glocks, HKs, 1911s, Browning Hi-Powers, all the short trigger pull guns. One guy running a custom Para P16-40 said to me, after I beat him on a run, "You can't do that. That's not possible. That's like running an eight second quarter mile in a VW."
