List your favorite smiths and your location. In case we're traveling and shooting there.

Mine are in the Phoenix Metro area...

Nelson Ford from The Gunsmith, Inc. for 1911/2011 and Revo's (when I shot them :) )

Derrick Martin and Marty Kolodziej at Accuracy Speaks for AR's

DYI the Glocks

Jim

I'll go with Marty & Derrick (Accuracy Speaks) for AR's....Mesa, AZ

Virgil Tripp for Limited guns.....TX

Ed Cameron for Open guns....Phoenix, AZ

I haven't used a shotgun 'smith yet....anywhere.

I use Marty for most of my repair work on all my guns but Ed Cameron has my Open gun right now.

Jimmy M, you beat me to it. Though I have not had Marty do any work. Jake did my last gun there, it has been a while :(

Everything I have ever had done from Accuracy Speaks has been first rate, 1911, Open Para 9x23, AR15.

Nelson rebarreled my K frame with a 1" slab sided Douglas and slicked up the action. Took 4th Lady with it at 2001IRC.

Frank Glenn at Accurcy Unlimited in Phoenix, AZ has done some really nice work on my guns over the years.

He helped me with barrels in my OPEN and did a super smooth S&W K-frame Bianchi Gun for me manu years ago.

I'll recommend him any day for any hand- or long gun work

another toot of the horn for JPL Precision for my 1911/2011 needs. John knows how to make a major 9 BARK!

CZ Custom Shop (Angus/Rob/Eric) does my CZ's.

  • 2 weeks later...

A number of really good smiths out there serving the competitive shooter's needs.

With that being said.

Benny Built is my choice. Various Ar's, Shotgun, S&W revolvers and a number of bottom feeder pistols - along with my deadly potato canon.

Jim Lambert at Firebird for the fancy high end Premium AR and components.

Pistol work: Benny @ Triangle Shooting Sport (another vote for him)

Bolt Gun work: GA Precision

AR work: Myself or again Benny @ Triangle Shooting Sports.

Around here Benny Hill at Triangle Shooting Sports is the go to guy. I was there yesterday picking up a part I needed for my AR.

Mike Johnson of Shooting Specialties (Chinook, MT) does excellent work on Pistols, Rifles, etc.

Have had a couple Limited guns and an Open from him - takes the time to do all the little "extras" that makes a gun unique, and nice.

Benny Hill of course, for anything.

Mike Caylor has built me a couple nice Limited Guns. I think he is still out of commision right now with back issues? His website is still down.

Speaking of gunsmiths, I need some one to fit a barrel for an STI Limited .40, and looking for a fairly quick turn around....(ie. not months) can anyone recommend someone who is not to backed up for a quick job? I'm in LA, near TX/AR.
